1984 10th Season It's been a somber past couple of days with the announcement of Carolina Calamity's coming closure. The coaster has had up to three hour waits as of late, something that is unheard of on any normal occasion. - Joseph Reynolds A group gathers outside of Carolina Calamity's entrance before the ride opens. In a piece of brighter news, Vulture is still attracting a good crowd. A Vulture train plunges towards the water. Vulture's queue line.

1984 10th Season Hello, it is a sad day here around Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. I regret to inform you that Carolina Calamity will be closing at the end of this month so that it may be removed by the end of the season. We had heard whispers of this coming from our parent company, Funtime Parks, Inc. but nothing was confirmed until this morning. The removal of this ride will make for a yet-to-be-announced expansion of the park for next season. The ride will remain open for two more weeks - I suggest if you have not gotten the chance to experience this fun family coaster yet, do so soon. - Joseph Reynolds This is Carolina Calamity's tenth and final season of operation. Carolina Calamity was the only coaster at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park when it opened in 1975. It is a product of Arrow, the same company behind Vulture.

1984 10th Season Good afternoon! We are approaching the busy (and warmer!) summer months and things are starting to heat up at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. Have a great day and enjoy the update below! - Joseph Reynolds Charleston Railway has quietly closed for the rest of the season as a major re-routing is done. The train will no longer loop around the lake in front of the park but will rather do a quick pass by. Rumor around the office is that a second station will be added soon! I don't think this was ever made known in the press release for Harbortown, but Scrambler was moved down the road literally a few yards to become part of Harbortown and to make way for Vulture's station. Charleston Gardens Amusement Park skyline. One last ride on Vulture for the day!

Hershey Hawaii [RCT3]
coasterdude5 replied to coasterdude5's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Hello again! The Volcanic Venues & Suites portion of the new Hershey Hawaii resort is progressing smoothly. Parts of the indoor themepark and shopping mall are still being converted from the former waterpark which once stood in its place. Brand new LCD video screens will grace the inside of the "Venue" side of the Volcanic. This entrance will connect the indoor theme park and shopping mall with the hotel. As guests enter, they will first notice this family coaster that has been a part of Hershey Hawaii ever since its opening as Hawaiian Escape. Looking down the elevator shaft that will transport guests from the lower level of the indoor themepark and shopping mall to the upper level viewing area. -
1984 10th Season This is our tenth season of operation! That is very hard to believe! I think this season will be the best ever! - Joseph Reynolds A small concrete area has been added to the entrance plaza. It breaks up the asphalt quite nicely. Vulture's train plunges toward the water. "This is my new favorite coaster at the park" said Susie White. Vulture's station at sunset. Vulture soars high above the lake. This was a great day to kick off our tenth season!

ANNOUNCEMENT - 1984 1984 proves to be an exhilarating tenth season at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park with the addition of Vulture, a steel suspended swinging monster of a roller coaster. Standing 120 feet over the park, Vulture will take its spot as one of the most frightening rides at the park. The ride will contain speeds of over 55 mph and will be one of the longest rides at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. A product of Arrow, a renowned roller coaster company known for solid attractions, Vulture will surely hold a spot on guests' "must ride" lists. Vulture will open for the park's tenth season this Spring. Vulture at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park Vulture will soar high above Gully River Rapids Vulture's track blends with the sky. Vulture's train can hold up to twenty guests. Vulture will be set next to a lake that is currently being dug. Vulture will command a presence from nearly anywhere in the park. 1983 9th Season Well, today is the last day of our 9th season! Despite no new major offerings, attendance has held steady. We're sure next year's new attraction will bring in the crowds! See you on Monday for the announcement! - Joseph Reynolds We've received record amounts of rainfall this year and it's raining today! Derecho will receive a new coat of paint during the offseason. Monster Mash Hotel closed early for a minor rehab. The midway isn't as busy when it's raining. Derecho, Parachute Falls, and Carolina Calamity. How long will Heatwave hold the "tallest" title? Those who still weren't wet enough took a spin on Gully River Rapids. I've been told this is an area to keep your eye on. Stay tuned for the announcement!

Beyond Pixelation It's playtime! Hey guys I have chosen the title Beyond Pixelation for this film. Despite the unfortunate news that the movie will not feature voice talents, I am having a fun time putting it together. It's not going to be a work of art, but I think most of you will enjoy watching it. To hold you over, I've put together a short preview trailer. Tell me what you think! This film will poke fun at many things, including but not limited to: Miley Cyrus, myself, Voodoo Village, and more! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NkroZOK3LU Preview Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NkroZOK3LU

1983 9th Season I thought I would take the time to review these past eight seasons in case you've just come aboard the Charleston Gardens Amusement Park train ride! 1975 The park opened its doors in 1975 to large crowds, even though it was half the size it is today! The park opened with Carolina Calamity, Parachute Falls, The Great Twist, Charleston Railway, Carousel, Indigo Plunge, Scrambler, SkyWheel, and Monster Mash Hotel. While the park had a limited selection of rides, famiiles knew a great day would be had at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. 1976 To celebrate our nation's 200th birthday, Charleston Gardens Amusement Park debuted "Derecho", a patriotic storm of a ride. As one of the tallest roller coasters in the nation, Derecho quickly became a crowd favorite and placed Charleston Gardens Amusement Park in the national spotlight. 1977 In 1977, Charleston Gardens Amusement Park opened the "Atlantic Avenue" area of the park. This was the first addition that added to the park's size. Charleston Railway's station was relocated in order to make way for Atlantic Avenue. Granny's Bakery opened, among other shops and eateries on the street. However, the park began to suffer that year as internal management issues sidetracked operations at the park. In the hours before an auction was to be held, Funtime Parks, Inc. bought the park and would reopen it in 1978. The Great Twist was removed from the park midseason due to mechanical issues. 1978 Funtime started things off right in 1978 with the addition of The Great Swings, replacing The Great Twist. It was the first ride the park had seen in two years. Though it was a small addition, guests were pleased to see that a new ride was at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. 1979 In 1979 we saw the addition of Heatwave, one of the first rollercoasters in the southeast to go upside down, not only once, but twice. The ride instantly became a recognizeable landmark at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park 1980 1980 brought another massive addition to the ride lineup at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. Gully River Rapids opened as one of the first of its kind and became a huge crowd pleaser, especially during the summer months. SkyWheel was removed at the end of 1980. 1981 New for 1981 was Gully Gulch Grill, a large family eatery that offers guests a great view of the entire park. Scrambler was removed between 1981 and 1982. 1982 Debuting in 1982 was the largest addition in the park's history - Harbortown. Among the new Harbortown Drive ride, Scrambler and SkyWheel both made triumphant returns in Harbortown. 1983 And here we are in the park's ninth season. Welcome to 1983! We see great things in store for this park. Be sure to stay tuned! - Joseph Reynolds

1983 9th Season This season is moving along seemingly a bit slower than past seasons. It's likely because there is no headliner new attraction to keep things interesting. However, I have a feeling next year will more than make up for the "slump" this year has been. Actually, I know it will! - Joseph Reynolds The remnants of a tropical storm have been passing through the area the trend is expected to continue over the week. Thankfully the weather has not been bad enough to close the park! Stay dry out there!
-
I've never thought of that. I'd say they're similar to most amusement parks (late morning to late night). 1983 9th Season Welcome to Charleston Gardens Amusement Park's ninth season of operation! While there are no new attractions this year, we are making improvements all around the park! New costumed animals will be making their way around the park this year. Our gift shops will feature a wider array of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park apparel. I look forward to this season!
-
1982 8th Season Welcome to the end of our eighth season of operation. While there will be no large additions next year, we will be doing some "upgrades" around the park. Expect fresh new coats of paint, a new show in our theater, new park maps, and alot more. I hope to see you next season! - Joseph Reynolds Carolina Calamity makes one last run of the season. Goodbye for now! See you next season!

I'll be sure to update you if I hear anything more! - Joseph Reynolds Gully River Rapids is ther perfect ride on a hot July day such as this! Libertyland Demolition Begins
coasterdude5 replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not so much the ride experience itself but the fact that it was the second-oldest operating coaster in the country. To Elvis fans it has a whole separate kind of historical value. -
^ That's really strange. I'll go through the CS packs and see if there was one that was somehow left out. 1982 8th Season Hello again! Here are the postcards that were submitted for the "Create a Postcard" contest. There were alot of great entries and I would like to get your take on each of them. Tell me which are your favorites! Please notify me if I mistakenly left your postcard design out! - Joseph Reynolds A: B: C: D: E: F: G: H: I:
