  1. DisneySEA was designed to have boats on the lagoon that could have performers disembark at specific locations. Its just not possible at DCA.
  2. Legend of Mythica was in my opinion the greatest daytime show ever. The way it utilizes the rest of the harbor sets it apart from every other show on planet earth. A genius show for sure. The show is expected to be replaced by another Steve Davison creation for TDS' 15th but thats not until 2 years after Legend of Mythica closes so speculation is that OLC will use seasonal shows in between.
  3. Again, after Hard Rock Park, Celebration City, Cypress Gardens, etc. I think everyone was just glad to see ANYONE in the wave pool. I personally rather see a park under build and expand the following year then overbuild and go under.
  4. In fairness, up until the past couple years, parks were closing left and right due to the market. Not so much poor planning as much as overwhelming response (which is great for the park!
  5. Premier's website is older than my grandmother.
  6. From an attempted non-fanboy perspective, I still am a bit hazy as to why Disney is going so deep with Avatar. I understand if they paid an astronomical amount up front to get the rights and now want a return on that investment, but if they haven't paid hundreds of millions for the rights already, it just doesn't seem that there is the interest like there is for Star Wars and Marvel. Not just from a theme park enthusiast perspective but from a cultural perspective. Star Wars and Marvel are going to likely dominate theaters so why wouldn't Disney invest in getting those properties massive theme park lands?
  7. I'd rather have Intamin build another Superman freefall coaster right next to Gold Striker, call it Superman: Flight Unlimited or similar. Soon they won't be able to hear the noise anymore. You my friend just won life. Superman next to the building would be the funniest.
  8. Monsters was featured in numerous parades prior to Monsters Inc Ride n Go Seek. Considering that TDL just introduced a new parade that featured plenty of lesser known characters including Aristocats, it just makes me wonder why they wouldn't invest in what is a supposedly-popular franchise like Cars.
  9. What makes the suspicious about Carsland in Tokyo is the total and complete absence of the Cars franchise in the park. There is no merchandise, there is no feature of Cars in any one of Tokyo Disney's abundance of shows, so on and so forth. The only and literally only mention of Cars in Tokyo Disney Resort that I'm aware of was the easter eggs of Mater and Lightning. Monsters Inc, Bugs Life, Toy Story, Incredibles, and even Tangled have all had much greater presence in the parks in recent years through characters and shows. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a large franchise based addition to Tokyo Disney in the near future but I just don't think Cars has the popularity to do so.
  10. There's really no point for them to start out with a smaller ride, they already know how to make a big coaster, so there's no problem there, just build what the first buyer asks for. Making launch for a smaller coaster won't be any different than making a launch for a bigger coaster (unless you want it faster than 120km/h) it just needs to be longer to gain the speed, but on the technical side it's all the same. I would have to disagree. If you look at most of the models is very much a ease in in recent history. The stand ups and inverts are a different story. But Tatsu & SkyScraper are certainly a step up from Air & Superman. SheiKra & Griffon were a big step up from Oblivion and its Korean brother. And most recently we've seen that Ratpor was very conservative compared to X-Flight, Swarm, and GateKeeper. B&M definitely does like to ease into their new products with something forceless and rather unremarkable into something more dramatic.
  11. They did go to Tokyo in the 2nd movie, so maybe this will be a unique Carsland based on the 2nd movie... Whatever the case, I'm sure it will best the already impressive CA version. Sorry but I have literally never understood this logic. One of the biggest complaints with DCA when it opened was the fact that it was a park about California...in California. Americans seem to think that because Cars 2 had a part in Tokyo, any Cars attraction should be made in that setting. Why would the Japanese want a faux version of what they have 20 minutes away by train. Furthermore the entire premise of DisneySea was to give the Japanese a total escape experience. Indiana Jones was redressed as a South American theme to make it more exotic to the Japanese. I think its simply illogical to ever make a "Cars in Japan" ride in Tokyo Disney Resort. I find the entire Carsland in Tokyo rumor questionable at best but I've been wrong before.
  12. I'm as happy as the next guy but there is simply no denying that the walls are hideous. Obviously get the ride open but the walls need to be addressed in the future as well.
  13. Wodan switched to steel wheels this season to reduce maintenance cost because the poly wheels were so expensive (I due believe they are replaced much more frequently). If the massive Europa Park can't afford poly wheels, its impractical to think that CGA can.
  14. If they are going to put up a wall, I would prefer an entire tunnel. Yes its significantly more expensive but I really do think the more tunnels the better.
  15. There are dozens of ride systems patented by Disney that are never ever built.
  16. It was added for theming, had nothing to do with noise or appeasing the neighbors. As much as anyone wants to say that, I don't buy it at all
  17. So Universal Orlando can build Transformers from the ground up in 10 months but Universal Hollywood takes a year and a half to build Despicable Me?
  18. "Pioneers get slaughtered and settlers prosper." Not exactly the best ideology to impress fanboys but does make B&M one of the most popular coaster manufacturers out there.
  19. My biggest issue with a Marvel centric theme park is that I feel that the super hero movie is the new Western. And we all know how Western movies kept their popularity high for decades and decades.
  20. Its also worth noting that Hollywood Dream is the only B&M with 4 trains. Considering that the existing trains are already purple, if none are in maintenance, than there could be 2 purple trains running forward, and a red & yellow train that run backwards. Bringing an even count.
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if B&M just finished testing and gave the okay in the past few weeks. Since it sounds like a fairly easy switch out, a lot of parks might want to adopt it for 2013 season headlines.
  22. Beginning March 15th, Universal Japan will run their B&M Hyper Coaster, Hollywood Dream: The Ride backwards for an unknown period of time. Just announced by the park. Source
  23. That obviously wasn't what I was addressing. I was referring to this point in the article: I just don't think this is that big of an issue. I don't know anyone who ever comes back from Disney Parks saying "Gee, I wish I spent more time with my family on that vacation!" That's why I don't understand the reservation system as a whole. Its just complicating matters rather than fixing any real problem. If Stagg's boys like riding "mountains", maybe he should invest in more mountains!
  24. My own personal, means absolutely nothing, opinion is that I think this is investing in a new way to experience the same old thing. Rather than investing in anything thats actually new. I just think that if the issue was that pressing of a matter than it could have been solved long before the digital age with a ticket and punch hole system based on times given for each ride, or other options. I just think they're reinventing the wheel instead of just building anything worthwhile. But again, that is my humble opinion.
  25. ^ I was just more impressed by the principle of keeping something semi-exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland for a period of time. Its rather obvious that for most parks it doesn't matter. Also, I believe Tokyo DisneySEA had a similar exclusivity contract when it first opened (if I recall correctly, for 10 years) for all of its unique attractions.
