To be honest, I'm not really thrilled with the idea of a Marvel theme. Imagineering will only be creatively exclusive to build Marvel attractions. They should have the theme of the third gate be a tad more broad so they can also fit in any original concept or other property attraction as they please. I totally agree, there's still much more they can do with both parks, I'd rather have them focus on that. Also, with the 3rd park they still have a huge parking problem, not sure how they will figure that one out. on a side note, I thought the avengers movie was pretty boring And honestly, how prevalent will the superhero movie sensation be in 10-15 years? Anybody remember the western genre....

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Maverick opened long before the Intimidator theme had even crossed Cedar Fair's minds. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwqcx-aGzN8 The first POV! Its very old school Disney and is a great twist on the classic Big Thunder Mountain. The show scenes are much better than the Big Thunder versions and the drop track is great. The backwards portion is fairly gentle but I was impressed with how intense the launch was. Great job to the Imagineers. Original ideas are alive and well in WDI!

Yes, I understand that its likely this could be a Zero-G roll but nothing provide so far absolutely confirms that. The ride hasn't rolled yet. -

The exterior queue and surrounding area is very similar to DCA while the interior queue is a more vintage version of DHS's. All wooden toys inside but very much like Andy's bedroom. Following photos courtesy of Deep Disney. Mr Potato Head is not in the queue but rather has his own private corner Following photos from DreamSweetsLove's twitter: I love love love that the ride's boarding area is the side of Andy's bed and the ride trams enter the show building through going under his bed: Reminds me of the pages in Hunny Hunt's queue: Outside area: The ride is apparently the same. The theme is a bit of a stretch for 1920's but the design is so well executed, I'm very very impressed (but when's the last time tokyo didn't impress. -
I've got it! So doubling the capacity wouldn't make a difference. /sarcasm We're going to be lucky if this ride breaks 300 pph. Doubling that would be a HUGE difference. With your logic, we might as well cut it down to 1 person per a cycle because lousy capacity is lousy capacity no matter the number! Who cares!?

The surrounding area has opened up and testing is to start soon. The trolley theme ties in very nicely to the rest of American Waterfront and the cast member costumes are great! -
We're approaching the home stretch, smaller details are coming together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb5MISaGG6Q I also think its very interesting that often times enthusiasts say parks don't give a flying rat's a-- about having cloned rides. But HKDL's management is VERY proud to declare that Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Manor are world exclusives. Here's an excerpt from a recent interview with the Creative Director: MA﹕ How unique is Grizzly Gulch to Hong Kong Disneyland? Ali: Grizzly Gulch is a completely new and original land to Hong Kong Disneyland, and in fact to Disney itself. Though we have Wild West themed lands in other Castle Parks, this is a completely new and original story, for both Hong Kong and Disney. Also, whenever HKDL is in negotiations, they frequently declare whether or not it would be unique to HKDL. So apparently it matters to them

Its not like the billion dollars was spent over night. The real investments began back in 2010 with the Paradise Pier re-do (I don't believe World of Color was included with the $1.1 billion budget) and has continued for two years since. The billion dollars was spent over a multi-year period. The increase in visitors was already present (and quite large) in 2010 when World of Color caused a jump in attendance (not to mention its a killer money maker keeping guests in the park later than ever buying dinner, merch, etc. I think it is rather likely that we will see 5-10 million new visitors in the coming years than we would have if there were no expansion at all. Call me out all you want, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Disney did their math correctly and this will be a worthwhile investment in the long run.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qztA1Ca6Ix4 A few things worth noting, -the trains are really short (only 4 cars long) so capacity likely won't match that of Big Thunder or even Everest. -The lift drop is working and looks far more effective than Expedition Everest's random stall. -The effects for the lift drop are not working, they have been tested but no video of the two in sync. -At 1:51 mark you can see a catch car going down the lift -The geysers of the area have now been tested

Oh, god... Here we go again.... --Robb "Read my rant a few pages back..." Alvey This has nothing to do with the quality, I mentioned that. I was saying, let it be unique. Not that it was the greatest ride on earth. If the resorts were all total replicas of each other than there would be no incentive to visit different resorts. If Journey, Tower of Terror Tokyo, 20k, Hunny Hunt, and Sinbad were at all 5 resorts, then they wouldn't be as exclusive and there would not be as much reason to visit Tokyo. I'm not saying that Carsland is the best thing on the planet, I'm saying that it would be better if it was no cloned left and right ala Mermaid and Toy Story Midway Mania

Best Dark Roller Coaster?
Justice replied to drewelap's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Space Mountain at Disneyland as its soundtrack gives it a whole new dimension and narrative. Plus, I appreciate that it isn't just a coaster in the dark, its a coaster set in outer space. 2. Revenge of Mummy Hollywood - Good dark ride section but why is the coaster taking place in darkness? It seems random, why not rushing through giant pyramid. 3. Mummy Orlando - Same reasons as Hollywood except poor poor poor pacing with much more cheese. 4. Space Mountain Florida - No soundtrack = lame lame lame lame lame experience. -
Whether or not the attraction is god's gift or just decent, here's hoping the addition remains unique to California. Its about time we see some more diversity in large scale attractions across the globe, especially for DCA. I don't understand the connection. If there are more people in the stand by line, that doesn't mean there will be a smaller, lesser need for single riders.
