  1. Like everyone else has said, stay hydrated and keep yourself fed. If you feel tired or lightheaded sit down and take a break even if it's only for a minute or two... if you're in a rush trying to get on everything you can stress yourself out and make it worse, so don't ruin your day by not taking a breather if you need it. A few other tricks I use in any situation where you can overheat, is putting an ice pack/ice/cold towel on or around your wrists, neck or against your chest for a few minutes. I know that sounds silly, but it helps to chill you down, especially those spots where you can really feel your pulse. Definitely dress for the weather. I know socks and sneakers are ideal for walking/standing all day, but shoes that breathe (shoes that have holes or use breathable fabric) or sandals can help keep you cool as well, just make sure you keep a balance of being comfortable and avoid blisters, etc.
  2. It's great to see all the good things happening at this park. I haven't been there since '03, but I remember feeling there was a lot to be desired... looks as though it is really coming around now. I can't wait to see how everything will look when completed!
  3. As far as they are saying, no damage to the park, but the area had a very damaging tornado earlier as well as severe weather most of the day. The downtown area a few miles from the park has a lot of damage/injuries. Not sure if they closed rides or whatever just in case, but according to the SFNE Facebook they were unaffected. Good thing too, that's a lot of people in an open area to try to get to safety/shelter.
  4. ^ Six Flags NE just posted on Facebook: "To our Facebook fans, thank you for your concern. Our park was not hit by this severe weather and will be open tomorrow as scheduled. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our local communities that were hit by the tornado." Glad to hear no one was in danger at the park - thoughts go out to everyone in the area around SFNE though... bummer
  5. Anyone at the park today when the tornadoes hit nearby? Looks like the funnel cloud was only a few miles or so from the park... Just wondering if there was any damage from the storms, Springfield/Agawam area was hit pretty bad. Hope if anyone was there, or if there's TPR members in Western, MA that you're all safe and sound!
  6. Wow, those animatronics are amazing... I especially loved Eric and Ariel in the boat, but... What about Ursula as a human? Eric vs. Ursula? Even the chef/Sebastian scene would have been cool to see. Not really sure why they chose only the scenes they did, because it seems so rushed... I mean, she goes from losing her voice to already being in the "Kiss the Girl" scene? I feel like it was a collection of the Little Mermaid's greatest hits/scenes and not telling a story. The "Under the Sea" scene could have been made a little shorter to allow for more development. Oh well... Having said that, it still looks like a great ride, and is visually really stunning... I will end up riding regardless since I love the movie.
  7. I really really love everything about this coaster. Busch and Intamin did an amazing job with this one. The layout throughout the park just looks incredible. I also love how this coaster speeds up and slows down throughout the duration of the ride - it seems to give the whole ride a great dynamic. It's so nice to look at, and seemingly will be just as cool to ride. Can't wait for more TPR reviews!!
  8. ^ Blatch - I did the drive around the back roads next to the park last weekend, and now with all the trees in bloom, it's not that easy to get that good of a look - you can see it, but unless you're gonna get out of the car and walk up to the border of the park you're gonna have a semi blocked view. You can see the coaster peeking out from behind the Cannonball's hill from the parking lot. The best way to see it is definitely from inside! Can't wait to ride it!
  9. What!?! Amazing! Never thought I would consider mini golf one of the reasons to take a Florida trip, haha... can't wait to see how this turns out!
  10. Aw, great pics of Kasi - what a sweetheart! This ride is so awesome to look at... can't wait to hear how it rides! Going to have to live vicariously through trip reports until I can get down there!
  11. Worst line was for X in 2003, hot weather and the line was painfully slow. The longest line was 3 and a half hours for TTD the summer it opened - drove to OH from Boston to ride it and it kept breaking down all day both days we were there. Rode once in the daytime but my dad and I were determined to ride it again the night before we headed home. We waited those 3 and a half hours through multiple breakdowns and "technical issues" and finally made it on close to midnight. Totally worth it!
  12. Loving this TR! Didn't realize you could take tour of the ship. All of the cruise ships anchored next to each other was cool - the Oasis is so freaking big! The Norwegian Epic looks so awkward - pretty ship though.
  13. So cool! I'm a total nerd when it comes to space stuff, and I have yet to get to the Kennedy Space Center. You're so lucky to be able to see the shuttle... I'm bummed I never got to see a launch. Guess I will have to settle for seeing one of them in their respective museums after they're officially done. It looks like there's a ton of stuff to see... I take it it's worth the price?
  14. ^ Oh, sorry, thought you took 'em That's crazy that they're not doing a whole to keep people out... seems like a there's a lot of ways for something to go wrong or to get hurt in there. BUT understandably, there are probably things higher up on the list of priorities for New Orleans to handle.
  15. Wow... amazing pictures! Very haunting... great place to shoot a horror movie. The picture of the SF sign that said "Closed for storm" was kind of sad, sort of says a lot without too much to it. How were you able to get into the park? Is it pretty easy (obviously people have gotten in to vandalize) or do you know people who worked there? Thanks for sharing!
  16. Thanks for the links/info! Might take a ride up there over the next week and see the construction for myself... getting excited - the ride and new themed area already look great... such a great addition to the park! Can't wait to ride it, never ridden a euro-fighter!
  17. Booo... I will definitely miss it when I'm in Vegas... unless of course it's somehow saved!
  18. When I first read this I had the same reaction like, what the hell? For parking? BUT like you guys have been saying, Six Flags really has done an awesome job with ticket pricing/deals and being able to use passes at multiple parks/etc... so in the end it's really not that horrible. For hockey games/sports games in Boston it's like $25-$75 to park on top of the ridiculous ticket prices... you would spend less than that with a SF pass, parking, and some food for a whole day at a park! I just got a season pass from SFNE, and hopefully will be using it there and SFGAdv this summer and will happily pay parking for what I got the pass for!
  19. Screamscape is reporting that Speed will close May 1st and not when the hotel actually closes... hopefully no one was planning any last minute trips after the 1st... I mean, it could be wrong, or mis-communication within the employees (evidently the front desk was the source of the May 1st date), but I don't see why they'd keep it open anyway... it can't be bringing in that much extra money.
  20. Loving this! Have a hidden Mickey guide book, but unfortunately haven't really been able to take the time to hunt for them on the past few trips. There's so many it seems that it would take forever to find them all! It's a cool extra thing to do though when wandering the parks or waiting in line for a ride... I also had trouble seeing the Mickey on the shirt in the Maelstrom mural. I think it's one ear on the flap of the pocket, one ear on the pocket itself and the face to the left. It's definitely pushing it...
  21. I know it's been said before, but those trains are AWESOME. The cheetah face looks great... Really impressed with how this ride turned out. So jealous of everyone that will get to ride it this summer!
  22. Are you just afraid of being on a ship or do you get seasick? I can tell you that the ships are so big that you really don't feel like you're on a boat. I haven't been on the Oasis, but it's the biggest one out there and judging from all the pics and R & E's TR on here, it seems like the only time you really will know you're at sea is when you can see the water. Sure your body will pick up on slight changes in movement, but nothing like you're probably thinking. I went on the Disney Magic years ago and we plowed through a tropical storm and I was sleeping on one of the fold out bunk beds in the room at the time and I barely moved/felt anything. You can certainly bring medication on board - your doctor may be able to help you or you can get some Dramamine or the patch you can wear to help with any motion sickness.
  23. How far in advance do you/can you book excursions? Is it best to do it beforehand?
  24. Oh man, koala and kangaroo cuteness overload
