  1. I don't know about premier's but those things seem to get really hot. I noticed how on possessed at dorney they had dozens of fans pointed at the LIMs and you could really feel the hot air coming out of them. Cooling LIMs/LSMs is important. California Screamin' has water jets cooling the LIMs @ the launch that provide the majority of the acceleration. The remainder of the LIMs get air cooled either by blower fan or compressed air which by default is cold.
  2. ^Agreed. So they are building a 400ft tall dueling, quadruple-launch, 15 inversion coaster RMC coaster that can run 15 trains? Great! After its opening summer, it will start its decline. And yes, all the SFMM fanboys can say whatever they please but the park's track record doesn't lie.....
  3. Yep, definitely a LIM. I've seen one go up in smoke before. Not pretty.
  4. Hopefully a LIM didn't catch fire.
  5. The ride vehicle navigates the airtime hills with a good amount of speed. Looks like Zamperla has a potential winner on their hands.
  6. Sometimes running 1 less train than designed will give you better capacity and decrease downtime. California Screamin can run 6 trains but 5 is more efficient AND decreases downtime. TTD is more efficient with 5 trains VS 6.
  7. ^^Does the park still leave 2 middle cars empty when the temperature reaches above a certain point? I know they were having issues with the eddy-current brakes getting too hot and trains overshooting the brake run and causing downtimes. When I was there back in '05 they did.
  8. ^I agree, however keep in mind that there are some things that maintenance needs to do while the attraction is running. 2 parks that I've worked at call them "running repairs." Granted no running repairs should be within the ride envelope (In ride area? Yes. In actual ride path? No. ) however if he wandered (for whatever reason) into the ride path then he may be at fault. Until the findings of the investigation are released, we won't truly know.
  9. Intamin sucks! In all seriousness, I'm glad parks are being more open now with the details they are giving their guests. I remember a few years back that Samurai @ Lagoon had a gearbox failure to which they made a sign to put at its entrance that said "Manufacturer is fabricating a part which will take an extended amount of time" which I thought was a nice touch.
  10. ^^While lock-out/tag-out procedures are critically important when working on an attraction, we can't assume that lack of this was the cause. Do we have any ride operators from the park on the boards that can elaborate on how the parks Ride Access procedures work?
  11. Oh ok , just curious. Hats off to the construction team/RMC if they truly are this far along.
  12. ^Seems a little short for a testing time frame. Just my opinion. Hopefully all electrical work has been done for sensors, drive motors etc.... Has the lift chain been installed yet?
  13. It's because of the vibrating seats.......
  14. Some shots from Zamperla's FB page: I particularly like this shot.
  15. ^I have always been one to never pass up a chance to bash SF park operations but in regards to the Bio-metric scanners, I'd cut them some slack as it's a new system, so their IT department, front gate personnel and guests need to get used to them. If there's still issues at the beginning of the 2015 season then at that point we could place 100% of the blame on the park.
  16. According to Irvine Ondrey Engineering, 2 train operation should begin soon...
  17. Robb/Hanno, Thanks for sharing. I love the POVs that are mounted low to the track like this. Also glad to see more reverse POVs.
  18. ^PR also has magnetic braking as well.
  19. ^I 100% agree with everything you just said. Disney knows they have a great product and are charging accordingly. I couldn't be happier about them suspending new sales of SoCal APs. I hope the SoCal Select AP will be gone shortly as well....
