  1. Yea, i guess i didnt realize how much these boards overlap. Its cool if everyones seen it. I may pick up RCT again this summer and see what turns up though, but no promises.
  2. This was a great set of photos. A lot of unique angles (I like the close-up of the people in the LNM loop)
  3. This was a project I was working on a few years ago on another site. I think its pretty cool.
  4. This ride looks amazing compared to the thier other offering. Is it just me, or the flying concept in general nowhere near as exciting as it sounded? I dont feel the sensation of flight, only the sensation of hanging by my chest. I rode Batwing and S:UF once and have no desire to ride either again.
  5. The drachen fire and BBW ride areas are connected. I'd prefer an intamin launcher, but I think BGW has a unique opportunity to build one of the greatest Wooden coasters on earth. If the drachen fire area was to be used as an el toro style lift, the hills and trees of the BBW land could be taken at huge speeds, and a drop when BBW's second drop was would be epic at high speeds.
  6. I'm 6'2" and my head clears the OTSRs just fine, but they press down hard on my shoulders . Loch Ness most recently, I couldnt wait for it to be over so I could get out of those things. (I'm not even that tall)
  7. Ah. You might as well call it a terrain coaster then, because the ex-BBW location is actually nice and hilly. Damnit now I miss BBW again.
  8. Isnt terra the denomination for 400 feet or higher coaster? Mega-200 Giga-300 Terra - 400 As in, megabyte-gigabyte-terrabye (orders of magnitude?) I'd wager busch gardens will never build a taller ride than griffon, but a low-flying terrain launched intamin would be super tasty. The BBW area could even use one of those launched "cars to the side of the track" intamin rides, though I've heard the one that exists is terrible. Having said that, the B&M flyer seems most likely, although I bet all eyes in the entertainment world are on cedar fair to see if their intimdator investments will pay off. If not, I foresee a dark 2010's for coasters. (Quick everyone, visit carowinds and KD)
  9. It is an hour and a half away, so definitely no public transport. You might wanna check greyhound schedules, but I find it unlikely.
  10. Yea, I feel like even at 6 feet shorter of a drop than SD200, a 2010 intamin at 85 degrees and a 20 mph lift just may be traveling faster than a 2000 (manufacturing precision must have improved somewhat) morgan at ~60 degrees and a chain lift, but that is just my uneducated guess. There have been a million different reports of how fast I305 has ever been clocked during testing, too. Edit: Steel Dragon cost 50 million?! What the what? That must be the largest roller coaster investment in history.
  11. Fastest Gravity-propelled roller coaster I'd presume, if any.
  12. It was a rough winter here, and operations were dramatically improved by sunday, when I went. I never, never waited in line and got on a bunch of rides, and the employees were friendly. Just give it a little time.
  13. ^^ speaking of rebel yell, Intimidator now towers over the back half, and the whole outward trip provides the most amazing view of the big hills, and the whole coarse at the turnaround.
  14. Ok, my first post: (for anyone looking for yet another I305 review: Ok so first of all: Its amazing. Amazing. I've been on a lot of coaster, including millennium force, maverick, el toro, kingda ka, both versions of Superman:ROS. These aren't comparable. The pictures/layout/pov don't show you the insanity, forcefullness, speed, or raw energy that this ride possesses. I rode about 12 times on Sunday (my girlfriend doesn't ride, so single riders line is my friend, and it was pretty much a walk on for me) with 2 rides in the front (do whatever you can to ride in the front, although they don't let you choose). I "greyed out" pretty severely every time in the first turn. My fondest memories of the ride are looking down the first drop (I prefer the view to millennium's, which may sound weird, but the amount of time you're looking straight down at brand new bright red intamin goodness is incredible) the second drop (when you realize what just happened to your brain, and see the insanity before you, all without slowing down) and the absolutely crazy ground hugging section. Yes, it is frightening to lose vision after the first drop (Well, I was quite frightened), and everyone I talked to on the rider experienced the same thing. You would need a strong composure, or very high blood pressure to avoid it. The air time does not so much replicate the feeling of floating, falling or flying; its more like a powerful beast doing its best to whip you off of its back. Its strong, strong air, but not what you're used to. By the time you hit the breaks, you're still traveling faster and more intensely than some respectable coasters ever achieve. As I grew up, I started noticing my dissatisfaction with coaster design, thinking everything was tame and slow for the comfort of the general public, but I thought maverick was the cure. Maverick (while great) is nothing compared to this ride, it has to be ridden to be believed. If a coaster has ever been too forceful for you, avoid this ride, because it is more so. I think some people are dissapointed with the layout because they have a notion of what a hyper or giga should look like, and what it is supposed to provide. It turns out an enormous rollercoaster is capable of many things, and one of them is generating enough speed for the most insane and powerful rampage on the planet. (Ok so I've over hyped it maybe, it doesen't cure cancer, but it goes places no ride ever has, and is the best riding experience I've ever had.)
