Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
KDcoasterMAN replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Rebel yell is running pretty smoothly this year. Regardless, rumor mill says that GCII is beginning a 3 year "Thunder Road-esque" renovation. I'm excited the prospect. With a new coat of paint. -

^ If a water park expansion happened in the next few years KD doesn't need a taller water slide than Pipeline's Peak (not saying it wouldn't happened) The park has a few missing likes in its water park line up.... Some version of a water coaster (like Wildebeest or Mammoth) or a Proslide whirlpool. They could take a chance on a Aqualoop though Water Country USA has a similar slide. It doesn't have a mat racer (once again something WC USA has) but it could benefit from one. Maybe a longer, faster, rapids like alzy river could be built. Lots of options. But by looking at the water park trends. I would make the guess a water coaster COULD come to the park by 2014/2015. I know everyone is asking, when will we see the next major coaster installation? With a Planet Snoopy expansion (Space ship teaser anyone?) and a probably water park expansion in 2014 (These only happen at KD every 7 years or so), I wouldn't expect it until 2015 at the earliest. Just my $0.02 -

Think about next year? We have seen Execs walking around the dated kids area, the question to be asked is what is it missing? For me, two things: 1) another large scale kiddie ride (like a til-a-wirl) and 2) a step up kiddie coaster. For younger kids looking to jump up from Taxi Jam they have Scooby Doo. From Scooby Doo where then? Rebel Yell? Backlot? Anaconda? Log Flume? The park needs another step up coaster like a Roller Skater. I have heard rumors that the ole' slime zone is at its end. Maybe we'll see a Marquis kiddie ride put there? The park is getting goods next year, relative at least. Rumored phase 1 of the Rebel Yell renovation? Rumored station renovation of Volcano? If everything is true that's a pretty big year for the park. -

Agreed. Replacing it with a Wacky Worm would be an improvement. It'll be great to see all that real estate available for something good. Disaster Transport? -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Even though Leviathan is a great name and theme, I would prefer an original name. But of course this is Cedar Fair we are talking about..... -
I doubt there is any grudges, its all business, and if another manufacture puts in better bid than Intamin (which is the case of Verbolten) then Seaworld Entertainment will go with it. Why would anyone hold a grudge against a quality manufacturer? (yes, that's retorical). I bet, and this is my opinion, that Mach Tower's idea was bidded upon by the major manufacturers and Moser won out with the best bid that the park was looking for. Yes, IF Busch built an Intamin drop tower, it would probably more reliable since they have more experience with this type of ride. Moser had only one or two major towers built by the time MT construction started. There is a difference in experience, but I would wager that Moser just had a better bid than Intamin. I hope that they don't remove MT, ever. I find it to be a quality attraction, though it does have its problems (extended downtimes, problems with the audio)... But the ride is more aimed for families compared to thrill enthusiasts. /rant

I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon. What I want to see is for them to tear down Shockwave and put it a compact GCI coaster about the same size as American Thunder. Also, exactly how much land does KD have available for expansion? Just curious. They own enough land they could double the size of the park easy. But that's never gonna happen. The Animal Country Safari (ACS) has not been touch by the modern park other than the Intimidator/Flight of Fear site -

I doubt Anaconda 's days are numbered. KD's upcoming offseason should be pretty uneventful but busy. So far.... There's the unconfirmed/rumored Volcano Station renovation. The beginning of the GCII Rehab of Rebel Yell (like the Thunder Road renovation) and rumors from the Dippin' Dots guy is more fun for families in Planet Snoopy. -

Skyrush! watching trains leave with 7 to 9 empty seats per cycle was ridiculous. I was at least glad to see the ride ops making efforts to put people in those empty when not busy -

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
KDcoasterMAN replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This past weekend I was very pleased with the ride ops except for the Storm Runner Saturday night crew. As a former ride op, I know how it feels to operate late at night, especially if you have worked all day, but their lack of interest in the ride's operation was saddening really, and somewhat frustrating. -

Anyone at the park today? I hear the Arena is going up in flames as I type. Literally. http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/07/flames_now_reported_shooting_o.html
