  1. Kings Island just posted a video on their Facebook showing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and challenging CP, CW, and Reds mascot Mr. Red. The challenge originally came from Holiday World.
  2. Aren't there actual water coasters/travelling log flumes with a layout similar to the double jump? Also, didn't TPR find some similar rides in Japan?
  3. ^That might be one ride that I would WANT one-train operation on...
  4. Please, I beg you, stop making dumb posts. Do you *honestly believe* the engineers on the project haven't figured out a way to add or modify the structure in a way that it won't collapse??? Saying "I'm skeptical about adding new structure...can the old one support it" is like all those people who were worried that the wheels on Texas Giant were gonna hit the bolts. Let the engineers do their thing, and let us do our thing...ride and have fun! Sorry. I'm just saying that a huge extension might be a bit more challenging. Any way, it'll be epic!
  5. I heard about that. Isn't the structure like one double-wide version of a normal woodie's support structure? That's why I'm skeptical about adding new structure atop the existing one to heighten the ride. Could the old one support it?
  6. They do not. Not at all. They have "slightly better than the floater air you get on the rest of the ride" air, but "ejector air?" No not at all. Does any B&M hyper have even mild ejector?
  7. I'm still waiting for that day. Just don't see it coming soon. As OrlandoGuy said too... Pre-dropping hypers have ejector in the back on the first drop. Raging Bull would probably have more throughout the course if it weren't for those FREAKIN TRIM BRAKES. Who is he then? How would he get his hands on this material?
  8. I doubt they'll make it brown... They probably would want to use the old structure (didn't somebody confirm it will use part of the structure, effectively screaming "RMC"?) and I doubt they'd scrape all the paint off the structure. Nor would they let the white paint rot away completely - imagine the bad publicity THAT would create.
  9. The leaks thing is sorta a dick move to the park, I assume he's an employee. Oh, well. Two more days! Hopefully, B&M will continue to make forceful, more intense rides like Banshee. Ejector on a B&M anybody?
  10. I remember liking it more backwards than forward. I also felt the same about Psyclone. So, I decided to ride with my nephew from out of town this past reverse stint. In that Psyclone train, in whatever row we were in, I thought it was one of the worst wooden experiences I've ever had. LOL But back in the day, I remember really liking it. go figure. I wasn't planning on riding Colossus ever again after that. But figured I'd get one last ride before it closed. I hadn't ridden Colossus forward in a number of years, but felt it was surprising decently smooth. At least in the front. After riding SFGA Goliath last month, and Robb saying its his least favorite RMC, I'm hoping for any RMC to replace Colossus. Hoping for a zero g stall! Sorry to derail, but why the least favorite? Length? I'd say Goliath is a kickass ride, but quite short. Wouldn't the orange/red or blue or whatever rails on Colossus stand out, as well as the inversions and steep drops that the ride may very well get? If it gets a drastic transformation, a GP would have to be a complete idiot if they saw that and thought that it was the same old Colossus. NTAG, IRat, and Medusa were not repainted. I think Colossus should stay with white supports. The ride is iconic, and it would be nice to keep an appearance that is reminiscent of the old times while still having an epic ride experience.
  11. Ah, now I remember. Although wasn't that maze protested in part because there was a deadly disaster at a mine not to far away?
  12. So do I! I feel like with the park becoming more and more guest-friendly, it could happen eventually. Also, update to the Miner's Revenge rumor - on top of the protestors last year, now Virginia's new ADA laws may not even be allowing the park to have a maze in the WWC line. Even though it was always a weaker maze no matter the theme, it's always a disappointment to lose a maze. I guess that just means more monsters everywhere else! What protesters last year?
  13. On another note, did anybody here like Colossus backwards better than forwards? Considering the ride was a bit boring to begin with, the backwards ride added to it. Plus, even with the old Psyclone trains that the track wasn't usually used to, the ride was pretty smooth except in the "dip" of the double-up. On yet another note, do you think they'll continue the "tradition" of Colossus going backwards during Fright Fest if it is Iron Horsed? And on YET another note, I'm VERY excited to see what this will bring. Will it be an Iron Horse racer? "Single Ride Möbius" layout? One coaster? Will they make it taller? Will it follow a similar layout? As Colossus has a somewhat bland layout, I'm excited to see what RMC could do. As for names, YOLOssus sounds pretty good . I've seen other people call it that, too.
  14. What? He was banned from the park? For life? It's not like the project is a secret anymore... does SFNE have any legal right to do this? EDIT - Nevermind, it was a year-long ban.
  15. Didn't NTAG take 1-1.5 years to Iron Horse? Was that due to the fact that it was the first or that it was a long, rather twisty layout? If it was the latter, Colossus also has a long layout which isn't extremely accessible from the outside, so it might take longer. iRat's layout was more spread out and easier to access, especially when the helix was demolished. Of course, Medusa was a (smaller) twister layout, and didn't it get Iron Horsed in a short time frame?
  16. Question - how long before IRat and NTAG did the RMC track start showing up? I'm excited to see what they do. With a racing coaster, there are so many possibilities with this. Hopefully they'll utilize the ride to its full potential!
  17. Has anybody actually ridden the launched loop screw? I don't think it has a name, even.
  18. RCT3 El Loco... could that be a hint to the 4D Free Spin? Both are S&S.
  19. I'd love to be evac'ed. Imagine the pics you could get from that vantage point! (Yes, my camera is always in a secured, zippered pocket.)
  20. You always hear about the liberal anti-gun, anti-religion media... screw that, they're really anti-amusement rides!
  21. Right, but this is what you've got to think about. One HUGE track is a *LOT* of track to have to maintain (even if it's less maintenance than a traditional wood coaster.) Two separate tracks means in 10 years they can still be running one while they do work on the other. Do we honestly think that SFMM is going to be able to maintain a ride with 8,000+ feet of track? I wasn't aware iron horse track really required any maintenance at all. But to answer your question, this being Six Flags I'd fully expect them to make a massive investment for the short term attendance boost, without any thought at all to how they'll maintain it or if the state will even allow them to run it as planned. Would California really not let SFMM run an intense RMC? In that case... Cal/OSHA or whoever is mandating this should REALLY lighten up.
  22. ^^They already have world-class pavement themed rides! (OK, the parking lot coasters are not extremely world-class until Iron Colossus comes along, but better than nothing! YOLO-Swag!)
  23. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's a wonderful idea in theory, but could you just image the clusterfuck that would create? And trust me, if it could be done anywhere, I'm sure Universal Orlando could pull it off, and even they can't. Has it worked at SFGAdv on El Toro (where the strategy is hawked all the time?) El Toro is near a midway, it isn't inconceivable that somebody could throw an object at the midway. Same with TTD's queue, you'd think that would be a recipe for disaster (although wasn't KK's old queue closed for that reason?) You and I are talking about two totally different things. We started discussing the idea of a dueling coaster and what happened on Dueling Dragons, and now you're onto "What happens if someone throws something off El Toro???" I don't even know where that came from. It's probably best to just table this right here. Both involve people throwing things off other people. I'm saying if loose article regulation works on a fast coaster near a midway, there might be a way it could work on a dueling coaster. Unfortunately, there is more temptation for a moron to throw things from a dueling coaster.

  25. You would really have to rip apart Colossus'supports to do that while keeping the ride synchronized. How about an interlocking racing corkscrew? One train passes under another as it corkscrews over and then the pass-under train does the same. Here is a picture - the s-bends are stretched-out corkscrews/barrel rolls. The trains go in the same direction in a synchronized manner. One train passes under the rolling train. Then the train that rolled passes under the other side as the other side rolls over. How about they just enforce a no-loose-articles policy? Zippered/Velcro/Button pockets only (except maybe things like tissues, napkins, etc. that are too light to fly directly at another train.) Mavelossushark? Seriously, though, maybe they could do something like California Screamin and use launched lifts. RMC could probably pull that off.
