  1. Does anybody have an idea of how crowded SFOG will be on Friday 3-19 or Sunday 3-21?!
  2. ^ It always made me upset that Mantis, Riddler's Revenge and even Georgia Scorcher were featured on Travel Channel and National Geographic! However, where was Chang?! Chang broke 5 world records in 97 before Riddler's Revenge eclipsed it in 98! I seen shows produced in the last 5 years that featured Mantis and Georgia Scorcher, However Chang was NEVER featured and NEVER got the credit it deserved! Chang is widely considered to run better than Mantis, and is known to be preferred over Riddler's Revenge and the smaller but younger Georgia Scorcher by some!
  3. Does anybody know how crowded SFOG will be on Friday 3-19 or Sunday 3-21?!
  4. Didn't Corkscrew at CP open 8 days later?! I could be wrong however! Speaking of which, I chose Arrow! More first for them than any other company including first steel(Matterhorn), inversion(Corkscrew KBF), Stand up trains(River king mine ride/Railblazer?!), Suspended trains beneath rails(Bat)(XLR8)(Big Bad Wolf), Hyper(Magnum), and 4D(X/X2) When I get off an Arrow like Vortex at KI or Magnum at CP, I just feel thats what a rollercoaster was meant to feel like!
  5. ^ I believe that the smaller individual parks (Holiday World for example), take care of their wooden coasters way better than the huge corporate chain parks! (SF,CF,Busch)
  6. Mark Shapiro did warn that "Some enthusiast won't like the changes" I do think this MAY be a good decision for the GP if it actually lives up to it's intended purpose!
  7. This was a Premier decision! Premier made a lot of strange unintelligent decisions, like buying so many parks in the first place!
  8. ^ SF does WONDERS with the parks that they "Like" (SFMM,SFGam,SFGadv, SFoGA,etc...), However, they got a hold of KK and turned it into a septic tank!!! If CF gets a hold of it, they will probably Geauga the park so everybody comes to KI, just like they killed Geauga lake so that everybody would come to Cedar Point!
  9. ^ Agreed. I'm not too fond of PARC but it's better than SF or CF! I believe the park was doing great until SF/Premier got their hands on it! Now that SF is out (Providing they don't get all the rides) KK has the ability to prosper under good management!
  10. I agree with midgetman! Also Ed Hart's investments might have already been paid for before the park was sold to Premier! (Twisted Twins trains come to mind) just carried out over a period of time! Also I do believe that Twisted Twins was being designed during 1997 before the sale! (Feel free to correct me) I believe the real issue here is that SF only reaps profits from running the park but doesn't own much of it which would explain why they only wanted to pay a portion of the profits to the fair board instead of a fixed amount! Anytime SF removed a ride, It was replaced by SOMETHING if not another ride. Chang, KK's flagship attraction was never replaced with anything and even though its not mentioned, Twisted Twins trains were not replaced either. I believe the lawsuit is a way to try and get money that will HOPEFULLY be put to good use for the good of the park (Maybe not). The space that Chang occupied can be replaced by a another large coaster thats less than 180 ft (Intamin mega???), Twisted Twins can get trains that are not G-Trains, and another train and transfer track for Thunder Run would also be a much needed improvement along with other countless other improvements that could be financed using the settlement money! I do realize that i'm jumping the gun BIG TIME, but "I HAVE A DREAM!!!"
  11. What about Flight of fear?! Ive been told by ride ops more than once to take my bag with me while riding the one at KI! Seems to be standard operating procedure! Does the one at KD "operate with bags" as well?!
  12. ^ The park will do great without Six Flags in the name! Six Flags has been the main problem! The park was great when it was Kentucky Kingdom "The Thrill Park"! Something nice and shiny should go in Chang's old spot however as well as a general rehab on the entire park! Also, I believe the park can expand into the area behind Chang's old spot and T2. I hope if someone takes it over, the park will grow and prosper a little instead of being taken over for absolutely no reason and neglected like SF did!
  13. ^ What makes me believe that SF wanted to close the park the whole time is the fact that SF started to remove Chang in September before Fright fest and before the end of the season. I wouldn't question SF motives so much if someone explained SF rush on removing Chang! SF is not in a rush to get Chang up at another park,(now in storage) nor was SF in a rush to have Bonzai Beach built!(wasn't due until 2011) So my question is why couldn't they have ran Chang until the end of the 2009 season?!
  14. Speaking of a home park that closed recently, a couple of years back, there were 3 separate rape accusations over the course of the last decade that took place in SFKK's wave pool! All over local news but I don't think any of them made national news!
  15. ^^ Agreed. I believe that this was premeditated all the way back from last summer when Twisted Twins Trains were removed from the site.
  16. The clip above is from the 12:00 news! The clip from the 5:00 news is much more detailed here, http://www.wlky.com/video/22478790/index.html
  17. ^True but, SFDK and Alton Towers can function successfully with height restrictions, so I believe that Kentucky Kingdom can without Six Flags at the helm. I remember being 11 and coming to the park in mid-June 1998 around when Twisted Twins first opened and saying to myself, no no Kentucky Kingdom being a Six Flags park would be horrible! The park slowly slipped to you know where since. The park was great before SF so I believe with proper management and imagination, the park will be great after SF
  18. I think that everything that predates Premier Parks (Before 1998) would belong to KFEC but that would have included Chang and Twisted Twins trains.(Twisted Twins was planned before 1998) This is a little far-fetched, but maybe SF planned on closing the park at the end of 2009 for a while, so to avoid red tape of the useful items (Chang etc.) they removed them and put on the face that they were going continue to run and improve the park! They might have taken some other small useful items, then suddenly announce the park closure when SF got everything they needed. The lease may have some sort of clause included that SF can move rides in and out but when the lease is broken, whatever's there must stay! I know I am probably wrong, its just a thought that may explain a lot.
  19. Just got done watching the news and Harold Workman (CEO of KFEC) said that the rides were the property of KFEC! Granted he didn't say which rides. The news also stated that Mayor Jerry Abramson and Harold Workman had spoken with Mark Shapiro earlier in the week and Shapiro made NO indication that the park was closing! I would post a video or a link to WLKY32's website but I don't have enough posts!
  20. ^^ agreed! That would be great for this entire region!
  21. Okay everybody, sorry for the doomsday like post but hey, look at my name! I just was trying to find another reason to justify the Kingdom sticking around. I knew this was bound to happen but I figured it wouldn't happen so suddenly! A lot of people in Louisville including myself still dont believe it! I also feel that the closure will have a more than minor impact on Louisville. I've personally seen some bad layoff situations, but this is the worst that i've heard. Six Flags did't notify any employees! All employees found out on Facebook and the news! That has to be a spit in ones face to get let go over Facebook instead of a meeting or other means! Also on the SFKK Facebook page their was a post advertising a job fair in 2 weeks the morning of Feb. 4th! Also the Kentucky Fair board acts clueless as to whats going on while SF blames them for rejecting the lease! The fair board stated that they were still up for negotiation and SF has the facts wrong! I smell a potential small conspiracy on either side of the closure of SFKK! Either the KFEC board or SF or both are trying to cover up facts! Also alot of people don't have a car or other means to travel and use to take TARC (Public Transportation) to and from SFKK, so traveling to other parks is out of the questions! But, for others, in past seasons KI sold cheap discount tickets in Louisville (around $20 at Kroger) so I hope that tradition continues!
  22. The same man also said SFKK was safe after the removal of Chang! (Sorry for posting twice!)
  23. Aside from Louisville's economy going rock bottom, I believe Louisville's crime rate will also go up exponentially! A lot of would be delinquents now are out of work/have nothing to do for fun. Kentucky Kingdom kept people out of trouble in more ways than one! I guarantee there will be more wanabee dope boyz running around trying to hustle up fast money cause they don't/no longer have a summer job! Also some teens will commit crimes for fun and thrill because their's no more fun and thrill in Louisville anymore. I pray that Mayor Jerry Abramson can fix this somehow for all of us here in Louisville!!! Some individuals/families don't have the time and/or money to travel to KI, HW, SFGM, SFStl, etc... even in a good economy let alone the 2010 economy, and sometimes kids can't convince their parents to travel or let them travel with others so other parks are out of the question!
  24. Both Ford Plants are STRUGGLING!!! Thousands of layoffs and contract buyouts over the last couple of years. The Explorer plant on fern valley rd.'s parking lot used to be filled with thousands of Ford explorers, but in recent years, the lot is either completely empty or maybe has about 20 explorers max. I wouldn't be surprised if the plants went under soon with the US under Obama becoming energy minded and cars like explorers are looked down upon and don't sell compared to the US of the 90s. IIRC, the plants are to expensive for a retrofit to sell compact gas savers so the plants will close or just slowly produce Explorers and the other plant slowly produce F-series trucks slowly which doesn't require the Louisville owning work force they used to have years ago.
  25. Hopefully Six Flags cant touch anything that wasn't put there by Premier Parks/Six Flags Inc. (Thunder Run, T2, various flats etc.) That way someone else can run the park or the rides and coasters will run during the state fair at the very least. I Agree... Mark Shapiro is killing Louisville! Without Kentucky Kingdom, there is nothing bringing in money to the city besides derby! Not to mention tons of seasonal jobs for High School and college age individuals which could fit this job perfectly into their schedule and still maintain their grades! This will be a lot of less money spent in the city economy that is already failing due to tons of other jobs leaving. ( I myself am a double victim of layoffs in this city) This city needs Kentucky Kingdom to fund those new bridges and rebuild the Kennedy Interchange, which i honestly don't see happening now cause we like the slow Kentuckians that we are used all the money on that new arena which we didn't need.(Freedom Hall was fine!!!)
