SCarowinds 2009
Whoa, Davie! replied to Whoa, Davie!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yea i agree with you DarkStitch626, Asylum was my favorite also along with the slaughter house. And ok ok ok! I will say HHN is waay more detailed in their houses but idk like i didnt get scared scared like I did at Scarowinds haha! And oh lord! bgwfreak777 your right..boy did it rain that day ugh!! Oh well still a pretty good time i'd say. Sorry to those who might not have like me saying how Scarowinds was "better" than HHN lol. I only said that mainly for two reasons..it was jammed packed with huge wait times and 2nd bcuz express passes were waaay expensive! I would have probably enjoyed it more if it wasnt so packed. Anyways I cant wait for next Halloween:) -

I heard that they are adding new rides and changing the name back to adventure park? Is this true?? -
Friends and I visited our third and last Halloween event for October. We vistited Carowinds on Halloween day for their Scarowinds Halloween Haunt Event in SC//NC and it was by far waaay better than Howl-O-Scream & Halloween Horror Nights! [even though they kinda stole the Saw house idea in the Slaughter House where they were playing the saw themed music and everything] I was pretty shocked and wasnt expecting such scary houses and scare zones. Wait times werent has long as time at Universal and there were more houses also. This was our first time checking out the event and my friends & I agree that its now our new favorite Halloween event:) Did anyone else check out SCarowinds this year?? If so what did you like or dislike about the event???

Worst Coaster Experience
Whoa, Davie! replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Great American Scream Machine @ Six Flags Over Georgia by far one of the most painful wooden roller coasters ever! Very very VERY rough ride! I heard this thing had been operating since 1973 and yeah its time for this thing to be torn down already. There isnt anything "fun" about this coaster. The Gwazi @ Busch Gardens Africa is also a close second BUT is a pretty fun woody. Isnt as rough BUT its one insane wooden coaster and my head always hurts everytime i get off this thing! -

Last year the last coaster friends and I rode was the Starliner & Triple Hurricane wooden coasters @ Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, FL. Too bad they closed down again(one of our favorite parks) This year however I think were ganna close off the season with a visit to Carowinds for their Scarowinds Haunt Event this Saturday, on Halloween:] But then again my boyfriend & I will probably visit Universal again in Nov/Dec to ride the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rocket(our new favorite) considering most parks in Florida are open year round.

Howl-O-Scream 2009
Whoa, Davie! replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh ok, thanks. I'm guessing you work for the park. I almost kinda wanna go back because my bf and i really wanted to do more but just wasnt possible with all those people. Too bad theey can't make those "front of the line passes more afforable! 40 bucks is kinda steep on top of the ticket to get in as well plus food $ -
Howl-O-Scream 2009
Whoa, Davie! replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Friends & I went last night and omg it was beyond packed. I was in total shock to see that many people were there as compared to last year's event. Shiekra was a 95 minute wait and most of the houses were over an hour wait also. I guess we should have spent the extra 39.99 a person for the "front of the line passes" Overall we did one coaster(Gwazi) and four houses(13Eat Your Heart Out, Toys, D.E.D, and Recontruction) within about 5 hours of being at the park. Favorite houses:Toy house--the music that they were playing in the house was very very spooky and freaked the hell out of me haha! Oh and I almost forgot the front of the park runway show was GREAT!! Even though its almost exactly like the Howl-O-Scream website shows its still pretty neat to watch in person:] So overall I still think Howl-O-Scream was good but had waaayyyy too many people at the park to truely in joy the experience. Plus the "unexpected" cold front didn't help either..it was very windy last night and in the freakin 50s! Not your normal Florida weather... -

It was noted today on the screamscape website that a reader went by Cypress Gardens yesterday and reported seeing what looked like two large cranes on site near the old parking lot. Sounds like they may be getting ready to take something down perhaps… anyone know more? I wonder what they are building around their parking lots or possibly tearing down?? -

Whoa, Davie! replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
New rides? That's always a plus. Wild Adventures was anything amazing when my bf and I visited this past March..BUT it was a pretty nice sized park and had a little bit of everything. Overall I would have to compare it to Cypress Gardens in Winter HAven, FL. Only difference is they have more animals and more coasters. Can't wait to hear what the new thrill rides we be:] -

Yeah Triple Hurricane & Starliner are great wooden coasters. There aren't very big BUT they sure do have alot of those bunny hills where you flying out of your seat. Lets hope if or when the park opens back up they keep all the coasters. -
Howl-O-Scream 2009
Whoa, Davie! replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last year's Howl-O-Scream event was great! Can't wait to go next Saturday:] -
I wasnt too impressed about this years event. Maybe it was because i went on the first night..idk? But the scare zones seemed a little lame. The houses were "ok" And the lines were so looonnngg! Maybe I should have spent the extra cash for express passes?? I couldn't believe some of the wait times. We waited over 75 minutes for Saw and over 50 minutes for Chucky! Friends and I were only able to do four of the houses cuz they closed Friday @ midnight. Wasnt worth my money oh and the Rockit coaster wasnt even open. Lame! Oh well at least The Mummy coaster was open and only ten mintues:) Overall i think i would have enjoyed it more if it wasnt so packed. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to check out Busch Garden's Howl-O-Scream. I bet its ganna be a lot of fun:]

So yeah not too surprised that they closed down again. Last year when friends & I visited the park it was pretty busy, but not packed. They had alot of rides and a few roller coasters. Overall we had alot of fun. It was kinda like going to a zoo, theme park, water park and botanical gardens all in one.(You cant get that @ Disney or Universal) And for the price (I think we paid like 29.99 or 19.99 with our AAA discount) it wasnt too bad. Soooo yeah closing down all the fun stuff and focusing on just the gardens was a poor choice on their part. It didn't work in the past and it sure as hell aint ganna work now. Why replace rides with another parking lot? Make no sense??? My last visit was this past April and it was a sad sit to see. From their "old" parking lot we got picked up in a trailer that was being pulled by a truck right through the old rides section of the park. It looked as if they wanted to show off the graveyard of all the old shutdown rides. I couldn't believe what I saw... Hopefully the new buyers will keep the rides/roller coasters that are left around at Cypress Gardens
