^^ Would you prefer they spend millions and millions on each park every year and send themselves back to bankruptcy? It's not like SFSTl was ever a park that got major rides every year. And isn't it better to fill a rotting hole in the park first and clean up what they have, so it's a better park when that big addition comes? Honestly, with all the talk we've had of things like Boss makeover, park expansion, kiddie coaster and a moon car expansion coming from the park president, I'm excited to see what the future brings for this park and these smaller additions will definitely help in the long run.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I guess I just got lucky last year because I had no problem with Mantis, and enjoyed it enough to ride it again. I wasn't in the very front, but both rides were in the first few rides. For a ride that gets a lot of hate I really didn't think it was all that bad! -
I actually like the name Goliath for this ride because at 165 feet tall it will actually be a giant among wood coasters at the fourth tallest in the world. And if the rumors about biggest drop and fastest speed are true, even better. Unlike some of the other Goliaths this ride will actually be... goliath.

Phantasialand Discussion Thread

^ Just has to do with the fact that more people on the site are going to make it to Cedar Point each year than to Phantasialand. I love a good flume ride, and this one looks amazing. I love the way that the drop is hidden with the waterfalls, without the caption I probably wouldn't have found it! I do wish we would see more parks build flumes like this, it just looks so great and really adds to the experience of the ride. -

I actually think the exact opposite. When I first saw the new pov my first thought is that it looked way better than the first pov they posted. Still nothing to how crazy the leaked pov looked though. -

^ I'd love to know how the Chinese ones are "weak" when they are taller, faster, and more forceful than Powder Keg. -
While I don't know about footers, Outlaw Run went vertical early April 2012, and the last piece of track went in late September 2012, so about six months. Great America tends to aim to get rides open by Memorial Day, which is about nine months away. So assuming they start working on the ground soon, I wouldn't say a late May opening is entirely out of the question. Of course they will be working through the winter versus the summer and the terrain is different so I could be totally wrong and it could open in July, but OR is the only RMC coaster we have to go off of. As long as it doesn't pull a Deja Vu and open in October, I'll be happy.

^^ I'd be pissed too but it was all going to come on Wednesday anyways. At least this is all she said about it, there's still plenty to hype about the ride. Speaking of the teasers, they did a great job of throwing people off since those videos were filled with so many false clues. But now I'm wondering what the real clues actually were.

I love how she said plans are confidential and then went on to say what it was. If this is true though - I'm ecstatic. I really thought we were going to see something like Full Throttle, but I was hoping it'd be something like this. This could really be the chance to give Great America an amazing top 10 coaster since I can't see them working with anyone besides RMC or Intamin.
-
I'm going to go to the park tomorrow and write Intamin on my face with a sharpie so Screamscape will think I'm an Intamin engineer. Seriously, that picture is so fake and I really think anything regarding Eagle is red herring. None of the clues in the videos relate to anything with Eagle and there is more evidence against it. I will be thoroughly shocked if any 2014 plans have to do with Eagle.

^ I don't think so, I don't think they would make the Guinness book logo so prominent in the video if the ride wasn't breaking some record. To show all that and then not have it break some record would just be setting people up to be dissapointed, I think they'd be smarter than that. Especially after the reaction to the IgNight announcement.

Photo TR: TPR's Texas/Midwest Trip 2013

Ugh, these reports are making me so mad at myself for skipping the Summer Adventures park. Hopefully I can find a way to make it back down there in a few years. Looks like it be a great place to spend an evening after a day in the city, but it's current hours don't really allow that. It's a shame SFOT was so bad. You'd think after the whole NTAG accident they'd be going out of their way to provide good service and get some good publicity. Sounds like my visit which was rife with problems and annoyances was actually a good day for the park. What a shame. Looking forward to the rest of your report, especially the SFGAm day. Hopefully they were able to make up for how bad opening day was!
