  1. Was the chat about japan posted? I haven't seen it.
  2. I'd like to see them get it, I think it would be a good fit for Dollywood. And since it isn't likely to cost them major bucks to purchase, only to move and re-erect, it shouldn't impact their current long term plans. Could the car ride be moved, if it is indeed put there? I know that part of the reason people said it would go there is because Screamscape reported that their next ride could go there. However, I wonder if they're taking in to account that Zippin Pippin may just be a quick impulse purchase and Dolllywood could put it anywhere (Thunderhead is on mostly flat land too, that was made flat).
  3. I've yet to do the one in Fla, but I can see this expanding to more of the backlot and soundstages to become just as scary in Hollywood if it is a success this year. Why was it canceled in the past? I just wonder if HHN Fla will go back to IoA and/or both parks next year...
  4. I'll have to get to C3 some time. Looks fun!
  5. Actually, other than on X-Scream's platform, there isn't much vertigo on top of the tower, it's pretty wide. The shot tower is great, it's pretty much like any other, but once you get shot up to the top, you can tell you're not down on the street. I AM afraid of heights, but loved the Strat, can't wait to go back.
  6. Oh well, guess I gots a park credit (and for now, coaster credit) that you don't . Not to mention all those posts I'm rackin up while you can't get in to T&J (okay, maybe that last part isn't true...)
  7. I rode it 4 times the first nite I was there (which was Insanity's launch party, in which Insanity gave about 3 rides and then went down, not giving us the opportunity to ride). I'm terrified of heights, and this was by far the scariest thing I've ever done. But I'd do it again.
  8. The weird thing about this park is that the Go Kart section was really nice and well kept. The rides part, though, looked like a parked carnival. I never got the Top Star Tour, but I got the mouse credit, and I'm glad it's sold and going elsewheres. As much as I hate any park closing, this one I can see. It was never busy anymore and way past it's hey day. That section of Myrtle really needs some sprucing up, and so hopefully something decent will be put there. I just wish they would have waited a couple more weeks, would have liked to do the Top Star tour and taken some other geeks to get their credits at the end of the month.
  9. When it comes to the ACEr comments, I know plenty of ACE memebers who, in fact (as Robb pointed out) are not like that at all. And some people may actually think BMRX was a great coaster (I know a few that did like it honest). However, I've also experienced the 'OMG Japan is hard to get around/coasters are hard to get/bla bla bla". I've read the guide to Japan, and had a trip all planned out for this month. Well, due to stupid former best friends and other stupid reasons, I had to cancel and am now looking at the TPR trip option for next year. I will get there next year regardless. But Japan can not only be done, but it can be done on a budget. A lot of the "OMG best coaster EVAR" are from people that didn't think others would end up going out there, but I hate to let them know, Japan is one of the last big coaster destinations. Outside of Japan, Europe, and America, most other contries/geographical regions don't have the amount, density, and diversity of coasters that those 3 areas, all of which have seen an increase of trips among enthusiasts over the last couple of years, has. I know plenty of normal ACErs (the true 'typical ACErs'), but its the idiot few that have kept me from ever joining. I don't need an affiliation to any club I have to pay to get in. And I have a feeling that in another 2 years, after a few more trips (like the TPR trips) to Europe and Asia come and go, that you will see some differences in Mitch's poll. Highly rated 'average' coasters that are in countries once thought to be a rarity in the collection of Coaster Traveler Nerds will find their correct place, and some coasters that have been overlooked for far too long due to low ridership will end up raising to the top.
  10. Actually, Beckley is closer than bluefield (and slightly bigger), but not by a whole lot. I tried to post this at CF.com, but i'm still having pass word issues at work . Lewisburg is a very nice town. You're about 7 miles from White Sulfer Springs in Lewisburg (home of the Greenbrier Resort). Nice area.
  11. WARNING! This PTR has one photo that fat people may be offended at. I wasn't, neither was my sister, she thought it was funny. But you might be if you don't have a sense of humor. So, I went to the State Fair this weekend. Here are my pix. And as we drive towards the outskirts of Lewisburgh, WV, we see the Fair's Skyline. Not just a Dollywood Thang... Although there were tons of people, the day was nice and I left before it got too crowded. I paid $24 for all I could ride. That ended up being 3 rides and one of them 2 times for a total of 4 rides. Credit or not? You be the judge. Cause I ain't chasin Rainbows at Dollywood... The Tango (Do That Dance). This is a Sick ride, and the only re-ride for me. "We Likes They Anton..." icon_wink.gif OMG! This thing ROCKED! So, Juggapotamuses can ride they Zipper by they selves. I could not. Uh...No Comment... Heyyy... Hey Sweety! "So, Betsey, what do you think of that nice shaggy bull over there?" "Oh Bertha, he's cute, but I'm looking for more Substance in my life". So there it is. For more pictures from the day, check out my pics on Flickr:
  12. ME has the new trains on now. Speed is fun. Despy is great according to me, but I have an acquired taste. Canyon Blaster is worth the credit, not much else. The real thrills, though, are at the top o' the Strat. If you're parents are going to be going to a convention at Mandalay Bay, and it is booked, NYNY is close, but Luxor, which is very nice is part of the company that owns Mandalay Bay IIRC, and is right there at it, as is Excalibur. We stayed at Excalibur, which offers a cheap to expensive range of rooms. Our room was ultra nice, very clean, as is the hotel, and we enjoyed it. A lot of people were all 'Oh, Excalibur is gross'. I dunno how. I mean, sure I've probably stayed in places more luxurious in the past, but Excalibur was MORE than adequate. Plus the casino and buffet are huge. Another thing I kept hearing was 'Oh, watch out for all the kids', and yes, families stay there, but that was fine with me. I did wholesome vegas, I don't gamble, so we enjoyed Excalibur. If you're into the whole medival thing, it's fun.
  13. So, Nicole, since Derek hasn't answered, what's the going rate of having you on my arm all day at the park?
  14. I'd like to go to Niagra with Nicole. Derek, what's the standard rental these days? No touching required, other than her arm around me so other hot girls will see her and be all Jealous.
  15. Then you may want to stay away from internet message boards. Tommy, I think you're fat, ugly, and smell. Oh, and your movies sucked too. And that silly website you have? Hated it. But I still love you.
  16. They should really follow the advice in your sig . Can I make fun of Tommy, Robb? I haven't figured out for what yet, but I'm sure I can think of something...
  17. I personally really enjoy X, so I can't wait to finally get on this one. As per the computer thing on the back, IIRC, someone said that it was for (at least partially) the restraint system. Which, I believe, is controlled by compressed air (hence the tube on the back). Of course, I could be wrong.
  18. I've never met Robb or Elissa (although I did have a Robb sighting at SFMM, but he was with his friends riding coasters, and I didn't want to interrupt), but I have hung out with other people, some on this forum, some not, that have 'fanboys' and/or stalkers. It does get annoying for us and them at a park. I'm the type of person that can get along with almost anyone as long as they're normal. But oftentimes, other enthusiasts have an idea of how someone, often times coaster site webmasters and/or videographers, are or should be, and when they're not, the person gets mad and other times tries to 'invoke' how they think the person should act. If I get to go to Japan, I'm going to ride coasters and see Japan. I may even tack on a couple days of Me time. But at the same time, I'd end up hanging with the people I like for a large part of the trip as well. But if you're spending 2 weeks with someone who is a fanboy (which really is just a nice term for UBER-Stalker), that gets old, and that isn't what the rest of the people signed up for.
  19. Tommy, you gotta at least try and go, otherwise I won't know anybody else. I may even play the part of 'Tommy Fanboy' during the trip . Seriously, though, it would suck if you don't go, but If I do and you don't, I'm sure I'll manage...
  20. What? No Japan with Tommy and James?!? I may have to re-consider...
  21. A) It isn't even in the bottom 10 in total population B) Wheeling is sandwiched in between PA and OH C) This area could draw from a few metro areas D) WV needs a theme park and this would be probably one of the better locations That is why WV. Not to mention that as far as size goes, WV is comperable and even surpasses many other larger states. While we're not one of the most populated, that doesn't affect how 'dense' our population is, which is population compared to size.
  22. Well, I'm in WV...
  23. 2.5 for Batwing opening year (I remember seeing Stealth and thinking "I'll never get to ride one of those, it's too far. And now I've ridden all three of the Vekos, though not Stealth where it used to be). It was hot and I had spent the night before screaming at a concert in D.C. (Janet Jackson). Then there would be the 2.5 I waited for Milly in 2004. I'll never wait that long for it again, regardless of how much I may have liked it. I rode TTD 2 times and never waited that long.
