An Upgraded TPR Forum Coming Soon!
Skycoastin Steve replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I definitely like how spread out the new format is horizontally, it makes it easier to browse through the topics when they aren't as bunched up. And even though I have good eyes, I like how the font is a little bigger for the topic titles (makes it easier to see for everyone). -
Photo TR: Cedar Point!

^I had previously thought the threshold was about 116-117, but then again, the speedometer could be off. -
Is that actually true? Even though SFoG is the closest SF park to me, I was just planning on getting a SFMM play pass and redeeming it at WCB to save myself from having to go to SFoG before then. Will I be able to do that? The coupon book really means nothing to me because I don't go to SFoG enough to actually use them, I just want the season pass.

I've also noticed that (for a while now). I think it has been there ever since my first ride on Riddler's in June 08'...but I've never seen a photo booth for the ride. That's great that the ride ops now clap when you get back to the station. I remember everyone did that at Cedar Point and it definitely gave the park more positive energy. They did that at HRRR and I almost took it as, "Yay, you didn't get stuck anywhere on the ride so we're clapping for you!!!"

Wood: 160 - not too shabby for only 45 rated Steel: 138 - blech, my steel list isn't that great -
They had to have done a pull through on MF. There's a support that they actually had to modify at the end of the 2nd hill that was too close to the track (in fact, one rider was famous for smacking it with his hand until they modified it), the track comes kinda close to some supports during the middle portions of the island, and there are the two tunnels to worry about clearance. TTD also twists through its own structure on the way down, so there had to be some sort of clearance test there, as well.

Rampage, save for a couple minor potholes and one BAD pothole, is relatively smooth. It all depends on each park's maintenance department keeping up on track work. I think I'll ride in the front of GhostRider and make sure I'm not sitting on the wheels on any other rides. I'll probably stay away from the back.

Which brings up this question for me...is it the new trains making the airtime better since they are more sleek and aerodynamic compared to the bulky 4 across trains or has B&M actually redesigned their hills to provide better airtime? Since I'm not an engineer, this could be wrong, but I'll give my opinion. The newer trains are longer, therefore they provide more sustained air as opposed to the quick bursts of airtime on the older B&M hypers. That may or may not be right, but I know the sustained airtime on Diamondback with its new trains is way more extreme than on Nitro, Goliath, or Apollo's Chariot with the old trains. Oddly enough, I still like Apollo better. -

I frequently discuss the meaning of life with my friends as I am riding coasters. -
