Love reading the captions! But preferring Carls over In N Out? Hm, interesting, haha. Just wondering, are the burgers+fries more expensive over there or just the same or cheaper? How about a 12" Subway sub? (In Belgium these things cost more than 8 USD!)

Bas does TPR West Coast Tour 2009

Seriously, I LOVE your pics, although I don't like the Photoshopping you did . Brings back so much good memories from my SFMM-visit this Summer (We stayed at the Best Western)! Thanks And better than Troy? Hm tough one, especially cause Troy stands out in Toverland, and Terminator is 'just one of the good coasters' in SFMM. Guess I'll have to ride them some more to decide . -
I'll start: Name: Maarten Birth year: 1988 Gender: M Place (city + country): Leuven, BELGIUM Nearby themeparks + distance: Walibi Belgium (40 minutes) Bobbejaanland (60 minutes) Other parks within 2 hours: Phantasialand, Toverland, Plopsaland How many people can you host: 1, maybe 2 Couch or bed: 1 bed, 1 airbed Link to your couchsurfing profile (if you have one): http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/iplf/

Because we probably all love travelling, meeting new people and visiting new themeparks, this thing MIGHT work out. I'm not sure though cause I always get the impression most themepark-fans prefer a decent hotel over alternative ways of travelling/sleeping. Quick info for anyone not familiar with couchsurfing: Couchsurfing is basically offering a place to sleep for free so that other people can contact you to sleep over, and you can contact others as well. There's already a HUGE website with a ton of profiles: www.couchsurfing.org What I'm trying to do with this topic is setting up a list/index/whatever of people hosting a couch or bed close to a themepark/some themeparks so that other people might meet up, stay over and visit the themepark (or anything else). So IF you're interested in doing this, how about you fill in this form: Name: Birth year: Gender: Place (city + country): Nearby themeparks + distance: How many people can you host: Couch or bed: Link to your couchsurfing profile (if you have one): If this isn't a big success, just let this thread die in peace

Photo TR: Walibi World + Amsterdam 2 & 3 September

I actually was pretty excited about it too, but got a lil disappointed because of the lack of decent (not good!) coasters. Goliath was amazing though! -

It actually is a lil creepy, but right when we saw those 2 girls passing by, we started laughing immediately. I know the pic doesn't show it well, but it looked like they directly came from a pure nineties dance party! The girl on the left her pants were WAY too tight, and their hair was in some kind of fluo yellow/pink. I just couldn't resist pushing the button on my camera . And I didn't show their faces to 'respect their privacy' -

Is it intact? or a lot of rebuilt things? Cause seriously, my girlfriend and I were almost disgusted by the way it looked from the outside. -

This is my first TR on Themeparkreview. Don't expect too much of it, but I can imagine some of you would like to see some updated pictures of Walibi World and Amsterdam. Normally we would have also added Duinrell and Drievliet + Rotterdam, but thanks to heavy storms, our tent got destroyed so we had to return home. Such a bummer. If anyone wants my tickets to Drievliet: 19 euro for 2. Major bargain! The pics are uploaded on Photobucket. I hope this is okay? My pics are mainly registrations of the rides, no arty-farty shots! The main reason we drove almost 3 hours for this park. GOLIATH Remainder of Six Flags Holland? Wasn't very crowdy at the park because of the forecasted rain and heavy storm. Although the picture suck, I have to admit I like the entrance. Too bad the big building right after it is SO ugly and not cosy it all. The great view on the giant wheel right after the ugly building makes up for it though. Carrots, the ride? Wait, what? A penguin-ice-cave Splash battle. Too bad the weather was already wet enough! Although I didn't take any pics, I have to admit I liked the kiddie area of the park. They perfectly combine some up to date 'things' with some nostalgic rides. And now it's time for the coasters, cause this park was to become the coaster capital of Europe. F*CK, what a disappointment! La Via Volta: out of order "Working on the future". Might want to actually tear it down then? Flying Dutchman Goldmine: not really my kind of coasters, but I guess it was okay. But can someone please give this thing a new paint job? Not a coaster, but pretty tight though El Condor: Vekoma SLC. Nothing special, but definitely not as good as Vampire in Walibi Belgium. Xpress: I believe this is the clone from Disneyland Paris' Rock 'n Rollercoaster? Enjoyable first part with a good launch, but like many people have said before, it's way better indoor with some nice themeing. Useless pic, but I wanted to point out how bad Robin Hood is. Definitely the worst woodie I've ever done. The speed and elements are still okay, but the whole ride is bumping and shaking so hard. This was NOT a pleasure to ride, at all! Hands down the BEST ride of the day! GOLIATH. I think we rode it six or seven times and the airtime was great every ride, every place. I love it, although it's not that high, but the 3 airtime bumps in the end and the short turn are amazing! Some more Walibi World shots: (less intimidating than the Magic Mountain sign) Even in September, they were annoying! But is it so hard to empty this thing every now and then? Me and my girlfriend weren't impressed by Walibi World at all! ONLY Goliath is worth doing more than once and overall there was a pretty boring atmosphere in the park. Only the Mexican area was a nice place to just sit and relax. Luckily we scored some 15 euro tickets, otherwise we would have felt ripped off without a doubt. After a night at the Gaasper camping near Amsterdam, we went to visit the city We liked the city, but it's not really on top of our list or anything. Just a few shots: (me) The Anne Frank House. F*ck, I was so pissed after seeing this, cause they completely f*cked up the outside of this building. Way to ruin such an historical house! We didn't go inside because of the longgg line, and the fear of being disappointed even more. Our plan was to visit Duinrell, Drievliet and Rotterdam, but due to heavy storms our tent got destroyed sadly enough. Luckily we're heading to Parc Asterix and Prague next week, to make up for this.

Non-Death at Universal Studios Hollywood
iplf replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A close friend of mine used to work at Disney Paris during the summer and she encountered 3 deaths in the 2 months she worked there. Last year I talked to her friend who works there permanently and she says it happens about once a month that someone dies at the Disney resort. -
Seriously, everyone, thank you SO much! I'll take everything into consideration and plan it out nicely. I will book my trip so that I'll only do the themeparks on Monday-Thursday, which already should be an advantage. But once again, thank you! In the future you'll prolly see a couple of other threads from me, asking for help. I hope the response will be as good as this one! If anyone needs any information about Belgian themeparks, just let me know!

Must've read over that quick queue system on the website. It's only 15 USD, so that's a good deal! I might do both parks as you suggest. Be at KD at opening and score some early rides and do the better coasters. Then drive to BGW, get the quick queue pass and enjoy the late afternoon and evening at this park. About the KD-coasters: Is this a realistic list of coasters to do? Best ones one top, and divided into batches: Intimidator Dominator Avalanche (I just love bob coasters) Back Lot Stunt Flight Of Fear Shockwave Volcano Hurler (looks like a lot of airtime?) Anaconda Grizzly Ricochet Rebel Yell Scooby Doo Taxi Jam Just hope I'll have enough money for both parks, hehe!

On my next trip to the USA, I'll either be visiting Busch Gardens Europe or Kings Dominion. I'm still not sure which one though! So here's a couple of questions: 1) In BGE I obviously wanna do Griffon, Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot. Which other rides in this park are worth it? And what kind of ride are they? Will this park be able to keep me occupied the whole day? Cause from what I see, there are only 12 rides? 2) At Kings Dominion, actually only Intimidator305 and Dominator look like a must-do. And maybe Shockwave and Volcano? Which other rides in this park are worth it? And what kind of ride are they? 3) For my trip to Magic Mountain this year, I used coupons. Are there usually coupons available (online) for BGE or KD? 4) If you'd have to make a choice, which park would you pick? 5) Is it maybe possible to start the day at Kings Dominion and score the most important credits? And then head to Busch Gardens Europe at like 4 PM, to enter the park at 6 PM and be able to do the important rides in the evening? It's more expensive, but I don't really care about it that much. Thanks in advance! (Other 2 parks I'm visiting will be SFGAdv and Cedar Point)

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Even in Belgium, West-Vleteren is VERY rare, and the brewery is on the other side of the country . Thanks for the advise though! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
iplf replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just 2 quick questions: 1) Does CP have some kind of flash pass system? Cause I can't find anything about it on their website. 2) Is it possible to do all the coasters on one day (from start to end) on a weekday in July? Or should I rather go 2 days, just to make sure? -
You mean Six Flags Great Adventure, right? Practically on the way from NYC to Philly? I'd like a combination of both scenery/tourism and themeparks. To limit the cost I might just visit SFGadv, BGE and cedar point. Then SFgreatamerica is an option if my company wants to visit Chicago (I already visited Chicago this year). But, I don't want to exclude any parks just yet, although KD looks the least attractive, unless the 2010 ride will be huge. @ Yellow Jacket: thanks. Is the nearby park Monongahela National Forest worth it? Cause the pics on Google images look amazing. To everyone, thanks so much for the help. I'm off to bed, but I'm hoping to read some more tomorrow! I sure appreciate it, and if anyone needs any information about West-Europe, just let me know!

Pittsburgh has an interesting setting, so could be a decent stop. (along with a stop at Kennywood) Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis though I doubt would make decent stops. Those cities are not going to seem very interesting after seeing nice cities like DC and NYC. Unless you want to go to the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland. Otherwise I'd just say keep on driving past these cities. So it would be Richmond area - Pittsburgh Pittsburgh - Cedar Point and then Cedar Point to Chicago, right? (edited cause I forgot Pittsburgh) That's a reasonable option to cut the costs. Only thing stopping me from picking that option is Kings Island near Cincinnati. i'm not sure what to do.

Being from Belgium, I want to make a trip oversees again next year. This year I went with a friend to the West Coast, but now I'm going to plan everything on my own. I want to combine themeparks with cities, with culture with nature. I think until day 10, everything looks pretty solid. Everything is a short drive, so that shouldn't be a problem I guess. After day 10, the main goal is to do Cedar Point, and head to Chicago to fly back home. A national flight would be an option, but makes it more complicated with renting a car etc, so I made a trip to Chicago including Cedar Point and some cities and parks. I still have some problems though. 1) There isn't any nature at all included in this trip. And at the west coast I LOVED Yosemite Park. Is there anything like that somewhere on my trip? Where and what is it? 2) Are cities like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinatti, and Indianapolis worth visiting? If so, I can add extra days/half days to visit the city. I also have 2 people who rather spend time in the city while me and my gf are at a themepark, so it's rather important. Keep in mind I'm mainly into the atmosphere a city has, and if there's any culture to see. 3) PLEASE let me know things I should see on the road, or in the cities. Of course I'll do the major things, but if you know anything nice, PLEASE tell me. 4) Is 3 days for New York okay? I went to Chicago this summer and I thought one and a half/2 days was just enough. It's financially better to visit NYC for only 2 days, but I don't want to have a the feeling that I missed something. Seriously, thanks in advance for your help! DAY 1: flight, arrive in the evening DAY 2: New York DAY 3: New York DAY 4: New York DAY 5: Six Flags Great Adventure DAY 6: Philadelphia DAY 7: Washington DAY 8: Washington DAY 9: Kings Dominion/Richmond DAY 10: Busch Gardens Europe DAY 11: Pittsburgh DAY 12: Cleveland/Cedar Point DAY 13: Cincinatti/Kings Island DAY 14: Indianapolis DAY 15: Chicago DAY 16: Six Flags Great America/Chicago DAY 17: Chicago DAY 18: flight back home
