  1. Hey, sorry to bring up a dead thread here, but I just had the same thing happen with this .gz extension, except renaming it is not helping at all. Now I've past my download limit trying to see if anything changes. Also the file that I am downloading (RAW_1_wood.mp4.gz) is tiny, less than 1KB. Any help Robb or anyone else?
  2. Yeah I heard a guy at Valleyfair the other day telling his friend that the drop on Raging Bull goes past 90 degrees, and that was why it made you feel like you would fall out.
  3. ^To be fair, Demon did get stuck in its loop once.
  4. I've had fun on all of the stand-ups I've been on, but it really is just a gimmick. My guess would be that we've seen the end of stand-up coasters, but I'm not sure I would say the same thing about flyers, even though that's pretty much a gimmick too.
  5. Wow, this looks like it will be pretty intimidating. Even Perilous Plunge got my heart pumping like no coaster has in years, that drop is going to feel like it goes on forever. The elevator lift looks like it could be just as much fun as the drop too. I wonder if we'll see anyone else get one of these in the next few years?
  6. I guess these things need to be done, but the location of Colossus over the path was one of my favorite things about it on my one trip to Thorpe Park. I remember when I was walking out of the park saying something about how cool that turn (the last picture there) before the last roll looked just because of how open it was and how you wouldn't see something like that in the US. On the other hand, I probably would have been pretty upset if someone had dropped their phone or camera on my while I was saying this.
  7. Nice pictures, sounds like you had a great trip. I hate to say it but I agree with you about how slow High Roller has been running lately, and it's all because of the one trim that was put on the turnaround a couple years ago. That return run to the station used to be filled with airtime, now there's hardly any.
  8. Well, it wasn't too bad, but I think it's weird that they didn't mention Maverick or El Toro at all while at CP and SFGAdv. I haven't been on either one yet, but they seem like the best rides in their respective parks to me. I guess they figure people watching the show only want to see the fastest and tallest rides out there, not necessarily the "kind of tall but really intense" coasters.
  9. Thanks for the heads up, it feels like four or five years (maybe a little less) since there's been a new coaster show anywhere. Hopefully it's a good one.
  10. The pacing looks a little slow, but overall I think this will be a pretty fun ride. The airtime might not be amazing, but it looks like at least the back seats will get some nice semi-ejector air over most of the hills.
  11. Steel Venom at Valleyfair for me.
  12. I thought it was an interesting article, but Shapiro's approach of getting tons of money by bombarding people with advertising is one I really don't like, but I guess it's an easy way to start bringing the company back out of the red. I do completely understand why they're not planning on building any huge rides in the near future though.
  13. Great pictures. Oakwood looks like such a nice little park, I was disappointed that I couldn't fit it into my trip to the UK last year.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm Michael from Minnesota and I've actually been lurking around here for awhile, and finally decided to start posting. I'm 18 and I've been into coasters for the last ten years or so, and I'm not really new to the internet coaster world either (I'm guitarplayer over at CoasterCrazy if anyone already knows me). I've been on about 70 coasters, 69 if I'm counting correctly, and I'll be moving to Boston for college in the fall so I'll have to pick up some more of the east coast credits over the next few years. Anyway, great site Robb, I'm looking forward to getting more involved.
