  1. I would like it to just be known that a guest took that picture ... we were resetting an A-Lift stop. The guest asked me if I wanted a copy when they got off the ride and I gave them my email address!
  2. I currently work Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours and Space Mountain at Disneyland but I have also worked Midway Mania and Grizzly River Run.
  3. Honestly, this wouldn't surprise me if it were true.
  4. I agree with Dane ... that coaster has some sexy curves!
  5. Dreams! Haha. That would be one of my million dreams!
  6. It was nice to finally meet you guys in person finally! Now I need to make it up to Magic Mountain for some fun!
  7. I would just like to point out ... Space NEVER runs 6-7 rockets due to budgeting. If only 7 rockets were available, it would be for unexpected maintenance issues. We are always staffed for at least 10 rockets during the week and are usually staffed for 10+1 (our current maximum capacity.) The ride used to be able to consistently run 11 rockets but is no longer able to handle it. Don't assume what you don't know. If Space has a 45 minute line, it is typically because we have that level of demand. I'm not saying that things don't happen to the rockets or the ride, but we are indeed staffed to run as efficiently as possible.
  8. Ah ... I love that we have storage, it is so very convienant. Unfortunately, we cascade during cycle outs all the time simply because the groupers and load 2 don't pay enough attention. Honestly, you really have a lot of time to cycle out if your tower does things correctly and your bars keeps their wits about them. Two loaded on main, two empty on spur and one empty in the blue room. No problem! But, we both know it doesn't always work that way.
  9. Most definitely! LOL, that's why we cascaded today! It's the best when guests refuse ... OR when we pull people out of row 4 and then their family freaks out thinking that their party fell out and we have a lovely Manual-E And btw, that layout is amazing. I wish I had a program to make the Space one! I would love to learn the rock ... everybody i've talked to has said it is much more physical then space. Space is supposedly quite a bit easier to break down so I guess it's more mental. LOL.
  10. Just for clarity, the heaviest rocket that can be sent in at space is 5198lbs. We do frequently load rockets with 12 adults ... just not 12 BIG adults. Heavy rockets happen all the time, we usually are able to pull two people out at dispatch unless we're at 11 ... then the rocket goes into the blue room.
  11. You know, I really do whatever I can to prevent line jumping. At Space, if someone claims that their party is at the load area we tell them too bad. Now, if they are at greeter and tell us their party is in line, we will generally allow them to rejoin simply because we know that they can't really get past our merge point and usually see them coming because nobody ever knows where the restrooms are. Line jumping can be very difficult to prevent though when we have a full concourse and things. Either way, if I have more than one witness, the guest is out of the line and I generally walk them back to the beginning. I have only had one instance where I had to threaten to call security. I pulled out my cell phone and the problem was instantly solved. (And before you yell at me for pulling out my phone, the guest was getting confrontational and I had no other access to a phone at the time.)
  12. I just want to pipe in and say this, when Space's Lift B chain broke we hat a zone 3 time-out. So yes, timers are in place on advanced roller coasters. Maybe Vekoma just screwed up royally?
  13. AHAHAHAAAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Oh wait, what? Sorry. On topic, the inside of these trains are very cool. I love the fiber optic effects they have.
  14. You should transfer to FL Classics and stay at Snow White console. You'd rack up apples on your nametag in no time. Worst part is 2 of the 3 I've caught out of vehicles there had small kids with them. That's fantastic. I've heard about it there ... and have considered transferring , but I love my air conditioning waaay too much! BTW, we totally pwn'd you on the battle of the mountains!
  15. Gosh I sure love stupid people. I have hit e-stops three different times for guests either standing up or getting completely out of the ride vehicle. Idiots. The best is when they ask you what happened.
  16. I got to see it in the roundhouse last night. Absolutely amazing in person!
  17. I saw Elissa at the exit of Space Mountain and said hello but I didn't have time to talk because I was update training. Glad you guys had fun!
  18. Okay, it's official, you're an idiot. Sorry, it's just that Disney World has been the news lately and it makes me sad that the most-visited park in the U.S.A. is suffering from all of these deaths. It surely can't be good for business. I mean ever since the 2003 and 2004 accidents on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain, I never seen it with a wait longer than 35 minutes (before it had lines that rivaled the Matterhorn's). But that was just one ride. This is a HUGE resort that almost 15 million people visit a year! I'm sure that this and recent incidents will impact business and the parks' attendance. Once again...my respects and condolences to Jeffrey Reed and his family. May he enjoy that great theme park in the sky. R.I.P. Jeffrey Reed ------space "I only act like an idiot" mtfan You do realize that when the matterhorn's line is wrapped all the way around the mountain it's only about 35 minutes .. right?
  19. Though I am by far an expert on the subject; typically any time the wind causes debris to fall on possible crowds is bad. So, south towards Main Street = Bad. East to TL = Variable depending on strength. West to AL = Variable depending on strength. North to FL = typically seems ok but is all variable on wind strength.
  20. I've passed your KA, I'm down. Seems like fun except for the constant rumbly spaceship noise. Just don't let anyone within earshot claim SM only has 2 hold zones when unload is never used. Come over to mine and experience the overwhelming joy and happiness of riding your tables. So much fun. So true. I really want to ride the HTT ... just for the hell of it. Talk about laterals!
  21. Nice Trip Report! I just thought you might like to know ... I was at Bars while you were chillin' in that rocket! And to the matterhorn man ... come work my mountain for a day. Just try.
  22. Fyi, they train people at Space while the attraction is operating. In fact, they frequently make the ride cascade on accident because they back up the station. Also, in reality average guests would not like space mountain pitch black ... I've ridden the ride many times with both the lights on and the lights off and I prefer the way the attraction is normally.
  23. Let me just say, that was the best worst trip ever in my life to the mountain. We started off the day by going to bed at 3am. After waking up at 630 to get ready and get to the park by 1030 we went inside. First ride was X. We sat in the very front row, left hand side and I was on the outside. I got so incredibly beat up on that godforsaken ride, I died a little inside. Next ride was Viper. Same painful arrow transitions but still fun nonetheless. After that, we headed over to see if we could catch Tatsu but decided that waiting 2 hours on a very uncrowded day in the sun was not the smartest idea. Since it was almost 11, we next headed for the rapids ride and got thoroughly soaked. Literally, there was 4 inches of water in the bottom of the raft ... good times. Next, we went up to the summit to catch Ninja and Superman. Ninja was a good ride like usual, especially since we walked on. Superman was a near walk on until we were next in line for the ride. We heard the car come in very quickly, hit the brakes and then came the technical difficulties spiel. We decided to wait about 15 minutes and right at 14 minutes they opened the doors and we got on. Fun ride, about 3/4 up the tower. Ok, so somehow I got conned into riding that dang like freefall drop thing and let me tell you, most bone jarringly painful experience of my life. I loved it! Next up, we hit Goliath. Awesome and fun and a walk on. (2 trains running) Then Scream. Okay, so somehow my sidekick fell out of my pocket and landed below my seat on the purple section of the carriage and stayed there the entire ride! The rest of my party was screaming OH MY GOD and all these things watching my phone stay glued to the ride. I should have taken this a sign to keep all my belongings in the bag because after we hit colossus (bone jarring) and then went to Batman. Great and forceful ride, get out and notice that my camera is gone! I'm walking down the exit, look to my left and see it in pieces. Hence, no pictures. Next, we went on Riddlers and had a blast then we made the horrible decision to ride Deja Vu. The ride was cycling fine for at least 10 trips and then we got on. Strap in, floor drops, and then we start to go up the spike. About half way up we hear a loud bang and the ride stops completely with us vertical. Literally, we're sitting there with nothing happening. We hear the ride ops spiel to the line that the ride is experiencing technical difficulties but they say absolutely nothing to us. Several people on the ride start to cry and freak out but they still say nothing to us. After sitting on the spike for about 30 minutes there is another bang and we lower back to the station and are told to exit. No explanation, no apology. Nothing. Very bad customer service. (Shocker!) The rest of the night went very smoothly and we were able to hit up Tatsu, Revolution and then Goliath again. The park was very uncrowded and the only coaster that I saw running one train was Goldrusher and that was still a walk on. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I truly enjoyed myself! (Thanks for those of you who actually read all of this with no pictures!)
  24. I know for a fact that some weird things have happened during closing at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Disneyland. After the last guest had loaded I called unload and photo edit to tell them last car and then load and I put all the blasters into their nighttime positions, out of the holster and sideways into the black hand holds. Once the ride had fully cycled out, I powered down and tagged out to do the walk through but our lead stopped us to do roll call. Halfway through the roll call, we heard lots of banging coming from inside the ride and we went in to investigate and every blaster had been taken out of the night position and was hanging in front of the cruisers. To this day, I will not walk through at closing on BLAB because of that very event.
  25. ^ Exactly! It's a beautiful thing! Let me tell you though, guests in wheelchairs often don't like when we tell them they have to wait because the queue is fully complaint. But hey, at Disneyland, we believe in full inclusion for everybody ... to enjoy the line.
