  1. I REALLY hate my statics textbook. It goes over the basics on how to do the mechanics problems, and then the homework problems given are incredibly hard with the lesson barely explaining how to solve them. Even my professor has complained how it's more of a reference book than a book to teach first-time learners.
  2. Wow! Every time someone tries to tell her that what she's doing won't work, she turns around and says that they're the ones being immature. Basically, she's acting like the spoiled child that will keep on whining and crying until she gets what she wants. So who really is the immature one?
  3. Yeah, the entire falling action post climax lasted about...forty five seconds? Horrible ending! But I still loved the lava tennis ball (should be a new smilie ) EDIT: The movie's IMDB page lists it as Miami Magma, which makes a lot more sense than Swamp Volcano.
  4. Everyone's said it...Lava tennis balls. I repeat this only because it was an awesome death scene!
  5. Tranan at Skara Sommarland in Sweden. It's the only S&S Free Fly operating. It looks like a great concept, I'd love to see more.
  6. If you can read this, why aren't you watching Swamp Volcano!?!
  7. Gotta love how TPR can take even the most boring SYFY movies and up the entertainment value.
  8. Speaking of Six Flags New England, Flashback used to operate at Nanhu Amusement Park in the 1980s. However, the ride didn't get a lot of attention because I guess visitors were intimidated by it. I guess it's understandable when the concept of the ride is only a couple years old, but it just sounds silly nowadays. Source. Just a sidenote to chrisj0509, Moonsault Scramble was the first coaster that came to mind based on your description. Best of luck with your research!
  9. When I was going home for Thanksgiving last year, I had booked my train later than usual, and got stuck with a 5:15 AM train, no big deal. My sister and I woke up early and got to the train station with plenty of time to spare. We decided to have breakfast at the train station's McDonalds since it's a 24/7 place...so they claim. Apparently the 24 hour McDonalds likes to open at 5 AM. We thought, "Oh well, it's fast food. We'll have it in no time!" The staff doesn't start taking orders until 5:05, and they decide to move slooooow. It took them eight minutes to get us our food. Most of the time, we could see our meal just sitting around waiting for an employee to move it to get wrapped, put in a bag, and handed to us, but the employees were moving so slow despite my sister and I yelling that our train would be leaving in less than five minutes. We finally got our order and RAN to the train. Luckily, Amtrak was running amazing that day and the conductor politely told us that we could take our time. Thank you Amtrak, screw you McDonalds!
  10. 1-3 are interchangable for me, I thought that they were fantastic! I was hoping to check out more movies since I tend to do reviews for my friends on Facebook, but I found there to be a lack of time and not many movies caught my interest. So here's what I put in order of interest with #11 and #12 scraping the bottom under the category: Horrifically bad! 1. The Artist 2. Drive 3. Rango 4. Kung Fu Panda 2 5. Horrible Bosses 6. Super 8 7. Thor 8. Cowboys & Aliens 9. Pirates of the Caribbean 10. The Green Hornet 11. Battle: Los Angeles 12. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
  11. I'm interested in checking out Safe only because they shot a scene about a block away from my apartment Other than that: The Dark Knight Rises (obviously) The Amazing Adventure of Spider-Man Men In Black III The Avengers Kind of interested in Chronicle I may check out: John Carter Rock of Ages I love Pixar, but the trailer for Brave was disappointing. I'll wait until it comes out, and listen to what others have to say to see if it's worth my time. I haven't seen a whole lot of trailers, but it looks like it's going to be a typical year for movies.
  12. To be fair, it may have been a documentary on the tallest complete-curcuit coaster in the world, but it would have had to been made sometime within the three months it actually held that record.
  13. Would the late dictator even be tall enough to ride his own rides?
  14. I had an online quiz due tomorrow, but I also have church and I am going to go see The Artist, and I didn't feel like rushing to take the quiz after the movie. So in a rare turn of events I neglected to procrastinate, and got that quiz out of the way. With that being said, bring on Sunday! Edit: Also, I submitted my Mitch Hawker Ballot for the first time! Getting snowed in has turned out to be more productive than I thought.
  15. ^^I had to read it twice myself, but look at the context a little closer. Larry pretty much summed it up, FeelTheFORCE meant no Arrow is safe from the demolition trend.
  16. I don't know why, but I find this satellite picture very eerie. Source. Photo by DigitalGlobe
  17. 1. It's been pounded to death, but line jumpers, including the people shoving through the queue to rejoin their group after getting the popcorn. 2. Employees who hate their job. For some reason, my mood tends to sway based on the mood and efficiency of park employees. While park goers may find that peppy yet fast employee annoying, I am happy knowing he/she's having fun with his/her job. The miserable employees not only darken the mood, but they slow the line down as well. 3. Guests overreacting to the rides breaking down (and this is from a guest perspective, not employee). I'm relatively patient and understanding. I am aware that rides are machines and machines tend to malfunction from time to time. It drives me nuts when guests "boo," or act as if the staff is purposely trying to keep them from riding. 4. Guests standing in the middle of the midway. This is probably my biggest park pet-peeve and my recent visit to WWoHP only exemplified it! These are congestion starters and makes the simple task of getting from point A to point B suck. And the whole time they are blissfully unaware of how many people they are affecting simply because they picked a poor spot to stop and decide what to do. 5. Guests who think that purchasing a ticket entitles them to do whatever they want. It doesn't...the park made their rules for a reason. If you're not willing to follow them, then maybe you shouldn't have gone to the park in the first place.
  18. I'm sorry, is it really January? Why is it 60 degrees out here in Connecticut!?!
  19. I had been on TPR long before I created my account, but when I decided to finally make my account at the enlightening age of 16, I was clueless as to what to make my screen name. Before, all of my other web accounts had names that were beginning to wear out in terms of accuracy (mostly including "kid" and whatnot when i am growing up), so I wanted something that would last. At the time, I was an attendant at Six Flags, and I loved my job. I thought that I was going to be working there for a long time....I haven't worked there since 2010... Needless to say, I don't think creating a new account just to change my illy-chosen screen name is practical, so it's here to stay. And now I actually take time to think about a decent screen name rather than choose the first thing that pops into my head.
  20. Merry belated Christmas TPR!! This year, I got: A new guitar amp Super 8 (DVD) Battle: Los Angeles (DVD) a DVD of 1001 commercials Personalized guitar picks An Angry Birds (black bird) throw blanket Chocolate covered cookie dough $100 worth of Best Buy Gift Cards a couple of funny graphic t-shirts An Angry Bird plush Pajama Pants (one this year, last year I racked up 4 ) Boxers Money An ammunition carrying case for snowballs! And a Magnalite flash light from a grab bag. My family has quite the sense of humor, but that's why I love them. Merry Christmas TPR and (in case I miss it on the actual day) Happy New Years!
  21. I'll be getting a new wood credit before the year's end, so I'm not submitting mine quite yet, but I've got my ballot ready to submit for when I do get to it. My top 5: 1. Favorite Steel 2. Boulder Dash 3. El Toro 4. Comet (Great Escape) 5. Lightning Racer (L) Bottom: 5. Hurler (King's Dominion) 4. Predator 3. Georgia Cyclone 2. Rolling Thunder 1. Wildcat (Lake Compounce)
  22. I don't think there is a credit at Santa's Land. Are you sure you're not confusing it with Santa's Village (one state over in New Hampshire) or Santa's Land (the one in North Carolina)? Either way, it's always sad to see little amusement parks like these go. There's just a certain charm to them. Thanks for sharing!
  23. The semester is FINALLY over! I now have time to post to TPR once again
  24. O.k., I've been sending out apologies to admins, and I'd like to extend my apologies to everybody else on the boards for my actions. I wasn't thinking and I clearly do no deserve the bag after what I've done. I wish everyone the best of luck on the Facebook contest.
