  1. You are adding Deluxe Dining to a Diamond Membership, I was adding to a Gold Membership, that is the difference between $6.10 and $9.75. I entered what I wanted at the 3 lowest levels and compared the prices. When you add in your taxes and processing the Diamond Membership is about $240 for one year, the Gold Membership is about $215, the Gold Pass is abut $175. I'm not looking for an argument or debate about what is the best option, I stated the best option will vary by person. If I was a different person with different park visiting habits I would jump at some of the other deals, but they are not right for ME. The preferred parking means nothing to me, I have never used it in the past and paying extra to get something for free is not an upsale tactic I generally pursue. I don't use BAFF passes, I think they should be done away with. The private entrance doesn't mean anything to me as I usually go on less crowded days. I'm not sure what the "private seating" is. The skip to line passes would be nice, but again not necessary on most of my visits. The membership rewards program is already broke. You track your experiences online on the honor system and are given rewards for reaching point levels. I'm not sure what stuff they are going to provide, but again I'm not drawn in by shining objects and probably wouldn't need or appreciate the stuff they give me. 2. I thought I was going to go with a membership this year, but after running the numbers it just didn't seem worth it. After looking at the cost of what I wanted (parking and entry to all amusement parks, deluxe dining plan and unlimited drinks) it was $173.13 for the Gold Season Pass, this includes about $20 in taxes and processing fees). The cheapest Membership Gold was $46.96 for the first month plus $17.85 per month thereafter ($8.10 + $9.75). Even if I ignore the first month of the membership (which includes the processing fee) and focus on the per month charge thereafter the Gold Pass is a better deal for me. $17.85 x 12 = $214.20 It appears to me that the deluxe dining with unlimited drinks is actually cheaper with a season pass ($84.99) than a Gold Membership (12 x $9.75 = $117) Since I do not ever use BAFF and rarely go to the parks when it is busy I could not see paying the extra $40-$60 just for the special entrance and one time preferred parking. However, the best option is going to vary per person and if this doesn't work for me, I'll try the membership next year.
  3. I've only been once, the water park was very busy. The ride side picked up later in the day, but it is definitely a local's park. I can't say how big camping is in the Baton Rouge area. Throughout the country many campers are local travelers. According to this report (on page 20) 37% of US camping trips are less than 50 miles. https://outdoorindustry.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/2017-Camping-Report__FINAL.pdf

  5. I prefer Mantis to Rougarou. Patriot is smoother than Vortex, but extremely boring, same thing that I expect in this situation.

A permit notice was issued Monday by the New Orleans District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to clear, grade and fill in an L-shaped tract behind Home Depot on the west side of Highland. The corps previously authorized the expansion in September 2010 and the permit was extended five years later. The work would impact 2.81 acres of wetlands and 2.85 acres of water. Elizabeth Haynes Harrison, director of marketing and entertainment for Dixie Landin,’ said Wednesday the current plans call for “the same exact thing.” A 20-day period for public comments on the permit application opened Monday. Comments can be submitted to the corps and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. Owned by Sam B. Haynes Jr., Dixie Landin’ opened in 1999, built with several amusement rides Haynes had operated at the old Fun Fair Park on Airline Highway near Florida Boulevard. The accompanying, Blue Bayou Water Park offers several water slides and swimming areas. In addition, the park has expanded its offerings by hosting concert performances, especially country- and Christian-music artists, as well as younger performers who appear on Disney’s cable TV channel. Based on the described location this is my best guess as to the actual placement.
  7. You just reminded me that I forgot to post the following from two days ago. The link has a shot video of the coaster construction. An April 2019, opening date is still planned for the mall and Nicklodeon Universe. https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2018/08/28/meadowslands-american-dream-mall-opening-date/ Meadowsland's American Dream Mall To Open In April 2019 August 28, 2018 at 7:53 pm EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – The Meadowlands American Dream project has been dragging on for more than 15 years. Now the planners they have an opening date, reports CBS2’s Meg Baker. Among the concrete beams, the roller coaster tracks are rising, the water park is being connected, a big round amphitheater is being constructed and the ice hockey rink is in the works. The American Dream project has come back to life, and project managers say it will be ready to go by April 2019. The builder says the project creates 23,000 construction jobs, which will turn into more than 16,000 permanent jobs. Today Gov. Phil Murphy joined Triple Five investors and other officials to talk economics… “These jobs – get this – will pay annual wage of $1.2 billion,” said Murphy. “And those wages will find their way into broader economy.” With brick and mortar malls closing all over the country, developers expect this mall to survive since the emphasis has changed from shopping to fun. “(It’s) 55 percent entertainment, 45 percent retail and culinary – different mix than tradition shopping destination,” said Lincoln Palsgrove of Triple Five. Palsgrove says they expect to draw 40 million people every year. They are working hard to capture the international market and the 65 million visitors who travel to New York City annually. “We are going to have great connectivity with the region working with NJ TRANSIT in making sure everything is set up day one,” said Palsgrove. For drivers, the mall will have 30,000 parking spots – 22,000 as part of the project and 11,000 in agreement with the stadium.
  8. Let's lead the crusade for an Endeavor in Spinmeister's old location! coasterbill - the Golden Kingdom path has been open since May (if not earlier)
  9. The reason the words "only floorless roller coaster in Maryland" shouldn't be used is because the vast majority of the GP consider suspended coasters (and even flyers) to be "floorless". True Story Quick insight into the naming the coaster. Project Manager: A coaster is rising from the ashes and being reborn what should we call it? Team Member 1: Phoenix, like in Greek Mythology Project Manager: Sounds great, it's a wrap Legal Team: You can't use Phoenix New meeting: The Project Manager shows pictures of the mythic Phoenix and asks Team Member to describe the picture Team Member 1: It looks like a bird on fire Team Member 2: Yea, a Firebird Project Manager: Sounds great let use it.
  10. As the summer is winding down, I decided to stop by Coney Island tonight to just walk around. The place really comes alive at night and the light packages for the old parachute tower and Thunderbolt are very impressive. Starting from the west, are the parachute tower (80% lighted) and the B&B Carousell Now fully lit Future home of the flume between the B&B Carousel and Thunderbolt. This street (West 15th) to the east of Thunderbolt is where the ropes course will be built. The new AstroTower The Brooklyn Cyclones had a night game so the area was busy tonight The Endeavor shows off its lights Continuing to move east, this is Stillwell Avenue, about 1/3 of this street will bcome shaded, receive benches turn into a game area. About 1/3 of West 12th Street will be reclaimed and turned into shaded food stands and seating. Looking out over Luna Park from the Boardwalk. Yes I skipped right over Deno's WonderWheel Park with the photos. The other new 2018 addition, Coney Clipper
  11. Cedar Fair has confirmed that a Hyatt House/Hyatt Place will be built for the 2020 season. Plans and permits turned up in April, but it is nice to see they have approvals in place. 12. I'm not a fan of New England style either, just give me the lobstah and the buttah on that roll
  13. Even a double carriage is too low capacity for Grona Lund
  14. It appears this will be replacing Ghostblasters. The teaser for the ride gives off a "Nights in White Satin" vibe. One can hope it is only half the ride.
  15. No, they really don't. Agree with Afterburner, there is no basis for this conclusion.
  16. KW flats are a strong suit. KK is has a solid base of flats (Breakdance, ARM Drop Tower, Endeavor) HW flat selection is just plain lame
  17. I spent parts of three days at SFFT from August 24th - 26th. I have always gotten a good vibe at SFFT and this continued for the most part on this trip. Here are my thoughts from those 3 days. Woman Woman did not open with the park on any day. It opened 45-120 minutes after the rest of the park each day as best I could monitor, since it is not on the app. Every day WW also went down for part of the day, one time for at least an hour when riders were stranded on the lift hill. Crews were quick and efficient especially dealing with non-working seats. And this ride delivers the goods. Iron Rattler was operating well all days, the line was moving quickly and ride ops the working hard. It's not as balls to the wall as more recent RMCs, but I love the pacing Superman: Krypton Coaster - on every ride there was at least one rider filming while on the ride. People were holding cameras in their hands, a few people had the camera inside those big lanyards and filming, one person had on a GoPro, one person rode in the 7th row with a selfie stick. I was tempted to take a picture of the selfie stick guy from the on-ride photos but didn't want to be reprimanded for taking that photo, quite the irony. I love Roadrunner Express, but did not ride it as it has the longest line each day, outside of WW I though this was very interesting. No way, not for me. Definitely more my style I not sure why people would question what's new for 2019, it seems pretty obvious. What's up with this?
  18. All three woodies were just brutal the first week of August, at least last year Legend was running well during my trip. I do enjoy Thunderbird and rode a couple of times with a local and he was trying to convince me that Voyage is the best wooden coaster in the World. In the future I will just plan around Holiday World, by taking advantage the extra free day at Kentucky Kingdom.
  19. Just one slight correction CAI is a subsidiary of Zamperla, they were selected by NYCEDC (New York City Economic Development Corporation) to manage Luna Park in 2010, the only non-Zamperla rides installed in new Luna Park was the Wild River log flume. Using Coney Island as a test bed for new Zamperla attractions is accurate. Every time a new parcel of land has made available for new rides through an RFP (Request for Proposal) process, CAI has won the rights (Scream Zone, Thunderbolt, these newest additions) The new Brooklyn Miniature Golf Course and the new slick race track adjoining it are on property still owned by Thor Equities.
  20. I interpret it the same way. I'm curious to see what (if anything) fills in the rest of that area, especially because due to how narrow that street is and how close it is to the outfield wall whatever it is is going to get peppered with flying baseballs unless it's something indoors or they invest in a big ugly net. It's only 315 feet down the line which is... not much. The net does not have to be ugly, the only drawback to the net is the birds that will roost upon it. Maybe a permanent huge painted mural wall beyond left field. A huge mesh wall/net that can be raised during baseball games (similar to a field goal net)
  21. This brief news article states that a water park is part of the current plan. In my opinion that fits perfectly behind the log flume filling the vacant lot to Surf Avenue. https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2018/08/23/city-unveils-plans-for-new-water-park-arcade-on-coney-island/ City Unveils Plans For New Water Park, Arcade On Coney Island August 23, 2018 at 1:09 pm NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The New York City Economic Development Corporation and NYC Parks announced Thursday plans to construct a large-scale water park on Coney Island. The city has picked Central Amusement International (CAI) to develop 150,000 square feet of city-owned land in the heart of Coney Island’s world-famous amusement district. The plans call for a water park, a public plaza with open air food options and an arcade. “Coney Island is both a cherished summertime destination and an important economic engine for South Brooklyn,” said James Patchett, President and CEO of New York City Economic Development Corporation. “With these exciting new attractions and our ongoing investments in housing and infrastructure, Coney Island’s future has never looked brighter.”
  22. Filling that whole space lengthwise is an assumption of mine, quite possibly it won't be that wide. There was a lot of buzz about a water park when the applications first went out and I remember reading somewhere that one submission (of course not from CAI) was a water park on that whole site from Surf Street to the Boardwalk.
  23. Obviously there's the Carousel and the Cyclone. Everything else is a Zamperla attraction except for their Sling Shot ride, which is a Funtime semi-portable installation, and (I believe) their Coney Island Raceway go-kart track. So it's not unprecedented for Central Amusements to reach out beyond Zamperla's portfolio for a specialty attraction. To add to this. CAI (Zamperla) has been awarded responsibility for every ride in the Coney Island amusement district except for the following: Deno's Wonder Wheel Park, obviously a few independent rides on West 12th (Ghost Hole, Saturn 6, two other flats) Thor Equities still owns 55,000 sq feet, which is used for the art walls/food containers and Brooklyn Miniature Golf and Go Karts. They still have dreams of building a hotel and movie theater on these parcels someday.
  24. I'm still confused about the area between the Thunderbolt and the Stadium. To me it still appears that half of the vacant lot will remain vacant. I think this will be a future water park. My interpretation It sounds like the flume will be entered from the beach and will stretch from the walkway alongside the B&B Carousel/stadium to the Thunderbolt, but I can't imagine it stretching more than 1/3 of the way to Surf. Ropes Course/Zip Line will not go on the vacant lot, but on 15th street between Wonder Wheel Way and the boardwalk Stillwell Avenue between Wonder Wheel Way and the Boardwalk will be filled with skill games. 12th Avenue between Wonder Wheel way and boardwalk will be filled with food stands Fits between the Thunderbolt and B&B Carousel Fits between Thunderbolt and GoKarts Fits between GoKarts and Soaring Eagle Future installations
