If you consider Knott's a theme park, then definitely! Well, I've never been to Knott's Haunt, so I really shouldn't have an opinion on it! However, when I refer to the Haunt experience - at least to me - I'm including the experience of the park ambiance, and especially the coasters I'm able to ride in the dark. Given KI has the best collection of coasters to ride in the dark, that weighs heavily on that statement of mine, and would probably mean I would still prefer it over Knott's, even if I did experience Knott's. I mean, you know me, and my typical lack of interest in the haunt mazes first hand! -
We had a negative experience with our skip the line passes at this park. We have the diamond elite memberships as well. The skip the line passes at six flags parks are good for up to 4 people(at least the many six flags parks we have been to). At this park, they were only for the 1 person. We bought our diamond elite memberships for the skip the line passes and discounts. Since we have 2 kids, it was a great deal as we could all ride together with the skip the line pass. Now at New England, it was only for a single rider. That threw a wrench in our plans. The weather policy at this park blows as well. One of the days we were there, it was sunny in the morning and a rain storm moved in around 2 or so. They announced at 2:30 that they were closing the park due to weather. So we left to go see a movie around 3pm, came out of the movie to find a sunny day with not a cloud in the sky for the remainder of the day. The crowds were very light that day, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with there decision to close. There was no reason weather wise that they could not have stayed open. A passing storm is a weak excuse. It sucked for us as we drove all the way from Michigan. It was funny how they shut the park down before you could use your dinning plan at 4pm as well.

See...I look at this in another perspective. So you are going to miss a days work, spend all that $$$ for a fast lane, separate from your friends, all so you can skip a couple of lines? If you plan your day right, you can get away with not needing fast lane. Hit mystic timbers and Diamondback first thing in the morning. Next, try to do stunt coaster. The only longer lines you will have to worry about are for the beast, firehawk(if you even want to ride it), and flight of fear. Vortex, racer, adventure Express, banshee, and the bat lines are very manageable. Typically, banshees line dies out at night making for a few rerides. If you have a platinum pass, you get early entry for a few coasters. Last time I was there, it was mystic timbers and a few other rides. I would check with the park though, as I hear they are switching the morning ert rides every so often. I have done a bunch of Saturdays at the park, and was able to do all the coasters(and 2x on a few) , a bunch of spin and hurls, log ride, see a show, and eat my meals....all with no fast lane. You just have to plan it right. They also have an inverted boomerang coaster that we always skip because it's not very head and ear friendly. Sundays at the park are typically slower. You should be able to bank a bunch of coaster credits with no fast lane. The only time I have used fast lane at the park, was when I renewed my pass and got a free fast lane. Even then, it really wasn't needed. As a matter of fact, we ended up waiting longer for the beast in the fast lane line on that day...I remember that we were laughing at that. Now if you are planning on just doing the coasters hardcore non stop, the fast lane is you're friend. If you do choose to get fast lane, wait till you get to the park and monitor the crowds first. You may not even need it. For me, I skip on the fast lane for the reasons mentioned above, but also because we have been to the park a bunch of times. I mean...its nearly $100 just to skip a few lines. If you are going to be there for 2 days, you will have plenty of time to get multiple rides on each of the coasters. A few things... Beast at night is a must! Like mentioned, the line closes early for the fireworks show. Take the time to check out a few shows and explore the park. The coasters are great, but this park has a lot of other things to offer as well. Its obviously your trip, but I would skip firehawk and faceoff in exchange for extra rides on the beast and mystic timbers. Banshee is great as well. It's one of the more intense B&M coasters. Food wise, our favorites are panda express, skyline chili, outer Hanks burritos, and larosas(sp) pizza. A lot of people like the new bbq place as well. We tried it, and while it was good, the portion size was a bit small for our liking. A few things to do if you find the time are the train and Eiffel Tower. From the tower, you can get a great view of the entire park, and the train ride is a lot of fun as well. Hope this helps, and have a great time at the park! -

I think that the problems that cause low ridership on rougarou boils down to 2 big issues. 1. Believe it or not, a lot of people think it's still a standup coaster. We were talking about cp at work, and everyone thought that it was still a standup coaster with a new theme. 2. The parks coaster collection. If you placed rougarou in most other parks, it would be one of the more popular coasters. But when you put it in a park with dragster, millennium force, maverick, steel vengeance, raptor, valravin, and a handful of other decent coaster....well, you do the math. -

Cedar Fair typically doesn’t do them all on the same day, Like SF. They are spread out through now until next year (sometimes). But you are correct in saying a lot of them happened on NRCD last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Does anybody know if six flags has announced what day they are announcing new attractions? -

Wow...that's crazy. I wonder if its because it's in another country, and they have different standards for amusement rides? -

It's a great ride for family's....even though the height requirement is 48 inches for some reason. Every coaster can't be 100 mph and 500 feet tall. Even by family coaster standards, Mine Ride is awful. I don't get why people immediately equate "taking out a sucky mine train" to "replacing all the family friendly rides with x t r e m e t h r i l l s" There are tons of other family friendly coasters that would utilize that space better than CCMR. It has the same height requirement as Millennium Force and is on probably the best expansion space CP has. A smaller GCI like InvadR, or even just a less sucky mine train (although that won't happen) would be great there. It's not blasphemous (is it???) to think that even for a family coaster CCMR is laughably bad. I disagree. For a family ride, it was the only coaster my daughter wanted to ride over and over again. She outgrew the kid coasters(Woodstock and jr gemini), and loves mine ride. Now she is a lot braver and rides all of the larger coasters in the park, however....she still makes it a point to ride mine ride every visit. It's a good mid sized coaster for those that are not into the larger/faster coasters. Iron dragon and "maybe" blue streak are the only other coasters in the park that are for the people not into the huge coasters. Remember...cedar fair is really anal about height requirement. Similar rides at other park chains have much lower height requirements. For example, my son can ride the demon coaster at six flags great America, but he needs to be 6 inches taller to ride corkscrew at cedarpoint. My parents still visit the park once a year, and the only coasters they still go on is blue streak and mine ride. They dont do the bigger/faster coasters. My mom even mentioned to me on her latest visit that she was glad that they still had mine ride, because without it she wouldn't have much to ride anymore at the park. I wouldn't say that mine ride is the greatest coaster in the world, but it does it's job. People need to realize that coaster geeks are not the only demographic that the park attracts. Family's make up a big percentage of people that visit the park. I'm all for putting new trains on the ride. One of the issues with mine rides trains are the seats. Years ago, the seats used to be cushiony foam that you would sink into. When they redid the trains, they put in hard seats and did not take into consideration that people are losing a few inches of room because you no longer sink down into the cushion seat anymore. I believe it was that same time that the height requirement changed as well(don't quote me on that, I'm just going by memory). A few tweaks to the ride could make a huge difference for guests. As far as that plot of land being the best expansion space is crazy. You have to remember that the train tracks and the water are obsicals next to mine ride as well. Is it a plot that can be used?...sure. Is it the best plot? Short answer is probably not. There are several other large plots of land in the park. Here are just a couple.. 1. The island. The dinosaurs are going extinct soon. The island is a large area that has more than enough room to be home to a whole new area of the park, including a few well placed coasters. 2. The shoot the Rapids site. This is a large space that is kinda a eye sore right now. The ripcord can easily be moved again, or better yet just removed. 3. The sandcastle hotel space. This area could be home to a large expansion for the park. 4. Behind the main midway games are(behind Johnny rockets). There is basically just a Warehouse that occupies that area, and that could be moved easily. 5.frontier trail. Granted that there is no large area besides the shoot the Rapids area, but you could squeeze in a mid sized coaster or a few rides into the area that fits right in with the frontier trail theme. 6. The picnic area in the front of the park next to blue streak. This area can easily be relocated, and that would open up a good sized area for expansion. 7. I'm not 100% sure about this one, but I thought there was a smaller chunk of land between maverick, and thunder canyon behind the old carousel building that now houses a halloweekends haunt. You could weave a coaster into that area. 8. The stadium area where the night time show is now. Sure its probably not a large enough area for a coaster, but a great spot for a huge flat ride or a good spot to relocate ripcord. 9. The area that is now used for the Bayou haunted trail. That area and the area behind dragsters lockers combined, are plenty of room for a coaster as well. 10. Last but not least, the area that the cedars dorms sits on(next to famous Daves). This building is falling apart, and has been rumored to be going away for some time now. A simple reroute of that part of the Perimeter Road would open up a decent sized area. Just because "you" don't like an attraction, does not mean it "sucks" or should be removed. I'm not a huge fan of Gemini, but I dont think it would make sense to remove it because I know that people still enjoy it. What's next? Should we remove all the kiddy rides because they essentially do the same thing by going in circles? -

Some....not most. You will have a great time as long as you go in not expecting Disney type service for everything. -
Thank you. This is one of the reasons that we have been passing on cedar fair parks lately. Six flags parks has a lot more rides that the family can ride together. My boys(3 and 4yo) had a blast at six flags. They were both able to enjoy larger coasters like whizzer, dark knight, and demon. Plus, they are able to ride a bunch of the spinning puke inducers and water rides. The whizzer was a perfect "larger" coaster to wet there appetite for coasters. The kiddy coasters at most other parks were rather tame to them.

Not a good week for the park. Another incident took place. This time it involved the little phantom kiddie coaster. The train got stuck on a piece of bent track and came to a sudden stop. No injuries were reported, and everyone was evacuated safely. What the hell is going on at this park? I also hear that there are a bunch of closed rides, and phantoms revenge was stuck on the lift all day today. Not sure who to give credit of the picture to. Not good! You can see the bent track sticking up in the front of the train. -
Funny story about flash pass at this park... With our diamond elite memberships, we get 2 skip the line passes each visit. So during our last visit, our first stop was the flash pass building. I ended up waiting 35 min in line at flash pass to get our skip the line passes. After leaving the flash pass office to explore the park, we found no line in the park longer than 15 min(only la and Toro had a slightly longer line at maybe 25-30 min tops). Basically, we spent more time in line at the fast pass office, than we would have riding several coasters in the standby line. While I was waiting in line, my wife went on the joker, Harley Quinn, skull mountain, and the sky screamer ride. She was just getting off of sky screamer as I was exiting the fast pass building. Needless to say, we passed on getting our skip the line passes the next 2 days at the park because they were not needed. This is a huge park, and dispersed crowds quite well.

Good theme park themed birthday gifts?
thrillrider replied to elc98's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One year for my birthday, my wife bought me a piece of wood and a bolt from son of beast at kings island. Being the coaster nerd that I am, it was my favorite gift. -
Not that I want to see the ride removed, but it does occupy a fairly large chunk of land. Storm runner is the only big draw in the area, and that part of the park could use some more atteactions. It was kinda like a ghost town walking thru that area on the way to storm runner. I'm not really that familiar with the size of crowds the water ride pulls in, but it was either closed or nobody was riding it when I was there last.

I wouldn't go as far as to say people don't enjoy millennium force. The problem that I see with it, is that people praise it like it's the best coaster in the planet. It's a good coaster, but there are better coasters out there.
