  1. While I'm not the biggest fan of the ride, I can't deny it was a great add for a lot of smaller parks once it was introduced so it's neat to say I rode the first.
  2. The maintenance staff had to manually unlock some of the trains, which seemed to be why it kept going down.
  3. It stands out more now, that's for sure. It used to be white for a while and then a faded purple.
  4. Steel Pier I had tried going to Steel Pier once before in 2017, but the park closed shortly before I arrived. This is one of those parks that has a rolling closure depending on attendance. So this time, I made sure to arrive midday. I parked across the street at the Hard Rock Casino and made my way to Steel Pier. Like many of the Jersey Boardwalk parks, social distancing and mask compliance was an afterthought to most guests. However, the park was reasonably dead in the afternoon on a weekday, so it wasn't an issue for me. I was in and out of the park in less than an hour. The park is home to two coasters, most notably a historic Reverchon spinning coaster. This was the prototype that was relocated from the defunct Dinosaur Beach. And I have to say, it's one of the best compact spinners. This one has a great location alongside the Atlantic Ocean and this one spun a lot...if you got the right vehicle. There was one vehicle that consistently wouldn't spin, so I made sure to avoid that one. 5 out of 10 Just a warning for any enthusiast going to Steel Pier by themselves, Crazy Mouse doesn't allow single riders, a restriction you won't find anywhere on their website. It's also laughably sketchy. You have these sun-faded, ragtag signs alongside the station. The vehicles collide into each other in the station. And best of all, there was an employee atop the station manually taking the on-ride photos since the automatic one was down. That's something you'll never see at a corporate park! The other coaster is Loco Motion, a SBF non-spinning coaster. This coaster was surprisingly shaky for a kids coaster and it kept sending me around and around much to my chagrin. I definitely earned this credit! 1 out of 10 The only other ride I experienced was their giant observation wheel which is creatively named the Wheel. It was pricey, but the views of the park, the ocean, and Atlantic City were spectacular. 9 out of 10 Unless Steel Pier adds a new coaster, I probably won't be back here. It's fine for what it is, but it's a pricey pit stop for some off-the-shelf rides I can experience elsewhere. I'd prefer to spend my time at the other Jersey boardwalk parks. And that's especially true since Atlantic City isn't really appealing to me as a whole.
  5. This definitely looks like a smaller version. What I'm most interested in is how much flipping they'll allow this one to have. I'm dreaming of an American Arashi!
  6. Great report! Was Batman running consistently for you on Thursday? It had a ton of downtime on Tuesday and only ran for 1-2 hours.
  7. Nickelodeon Universe's two big coasters have two annoying operational quirks I've noticed in my visits. Per the operator, Sandy's Blasting Bronco triggers a fault if it's not continuously running. Having been to this park on dead days, Sandy's seems to run extremely well when people are marathoning it, but if it sits idle for a few minutes, maintenance often needs to reset it. I saw that happen a few times in my visits to the park. And then Shellraiser has no way to rescue/reset itself if it rolls back after the launch. The train stops halfway down the launch track. This actually caused the ride to go down for the day in my most recent visit.
  8. I actually like Cyborg IF I can ride it with just a few riders. If I get a near solo ride on it, the ride tends to flip non-stop start to finish. If it's mostly fully loaded, you get stuck in rocking purgatory and the ride becomes quite boring.
  9. One crazy one that I've seen posted is that Skyrush's trains weigh 13 tons!
  10. With Kennywood and Idlewild announcing removals, I'm just waiting for Lake Compounce to follow considering that park removed their best water slide and unique sky ride in the past few years. Kangaroo is the one I'm saddest to see go because it was the last of its kind. Unfortunately, it was closed for my visits this year and I'd love to see a park pick that ride up.
  11. Most people touched on the big ones for me, but another underrated one is on the 4-across B&M loopers when you don't have much arm/elbow space so you're often grazing arms with the person next to you.
  12. Fyi to anyone going to Candylane. If you intend to ride Candymonium, you also need to watch out for wind. Candymonium closed due to wind before any other coaster yesterday. Winds were listed as 16-18 mph on my weather app.
  13. It seemed a bit shakier in my visit earlier this month than it was last year, but I still enjoyed Shellraiser. It's about on par with Mystery Mine for smoothness, which just means I'll lean forward to avoid hitting my head. But we need to talk about the bigger news, Invader Zim's Flip and Spin of Doom is no longer listed as closed, which suggests it finally reopened after a year of downtime and being relocated.
  14. I definitely would have ridden Coal Cracker had it been open, but it's not a big deal for me seeing it closed. More time for the hypers!
  15. Massachusetts has been mostly bark and little bite, but they're relying on people tattling and I know of a few people who were fined but they had no intention of getting tested and bragged about their trip to coworkers. I know NJ is technically an advisory, but I want to try respecting their rule. Although it looks like you're exempt if it's just a 24 hour trip per the way its written. The backup plan is to use my Hershey season pass instead this weekend. I was just leery about their temperature limits (though it looks ok based on what they have on their website) and the drive is a bit longer.
  16. Thank you! I love when parks are specific about their temperature limits. I'm guessing the water rides won't be running, but I wasn't expecting them to be open.
  17. I was planning on going (since I had a Flash Pass), but I had to cancel since Massachusetts was put on New Jersey's travel advisory.
  18. Saturday is 10 degrees cooler than Sunday. I'll keep an eye on the app Saturday to see if things are open. If I went, I was driving down on Sunday morning.
  19. Ok thank you! It should be a good 8-10 degrees warmer than that at the coldest so I should be all set then.
  20. Does anyone know if Skyrush has a cutoff for operating temperature? I'm considering going Sunday (assuming there's no rain). I'm guessing it can run when it drops into the 40s, but I figured I'd ask since this isn't Great Adventure.
  21. Superman is my favorite floorless coaster. I love the forces and that layout. It also surprised me last time when I stopped at the nearby shopping mall and saw it poking above the quarry up there.
  22. Great report! Even when I went to Nickelodeon Universe on a busy Saturday last year, Shellraiser was a walk-on. I think the location in the back corner of kiddie land is the biggest culprit.
  23. Great Chase at Six Flags America. I had no shame since it was a walk-on.
  24. El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure, my new home park for the rest of the year with New England's parks all closed.
