It has already been said that a queue must be at least 4 feet wide, if any part of the queue is less than that, a building inspection will quickly fix the problem. Now I can understand that if it's not the begining of the queue and is just an entrance to the area then yes maybe it will be too small when a large crowd is pushing into the area, but I think that it is going to be the queue entrance. I looked at the funstruction site as well and didn't see the update, maybe we are looking in the wrong spot?

Well, the drainage wouldn't be that big of an issue, for all we know that slab has a 2% fall from center out(which is all that is needed for proper drainage) and then it eould be as easy as laying down perferated pipe for the sub drain. The roots could be a problem but only if your gonna plant large trees, which I doubt would happen. But foilage is planted on top of soil covered concrete all the time.

Well if they wanted to plant grass or shrubs or any other type of foilage they could do it in the concrete slab, all they would have to do is cover the slab with soil and then plant. But I doubt they will do anything of that nature because I think it will be fairly difficult to see any of that area through the dense structure anyway. Plus didn't Tim say that when you enter the pre show you won't see the light of day until you exit the station on the train? Therefor the need for any foilage beyond the preshow buildings I think would be kinds pointless. Unless of course the preshow will have foilage in it to give a sense of being outdoors.

Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

Wow that is incredibly smooth! I've never been on a GCI so I didn't realize just how smooth they were!! Man I wish I could make a trip out there and ride that thing! Oh well terminator will have to do;) -
This is just an example of how manipulative the news can be, as stated above every year the media comes up with something to scream about how the sky is falling, remember west Nile virus, or the killer bees a number of years ago? Or as mentioned above, the bird flu? Now you very rarely hear about anything related to those major stories! The stock market dropped today because of "worries of the swine flu" for crying out loud! Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't be cautious of it, cause it is an illness that can be fatal, however I don't feel it is cause for worldwide hysteria as it seems the news is making it out to be.

Maybe in the future if any of us hear or see somthing of this sort, we can get on our cell phones and make a call to guest relations. If your quick enough maybe they can send someone to that area and investigate. It may or may not work, but it's worth a shot. And if we all do it enough then the park might see its a problem and be more proactive about it in the hfuture.

I think it would look nice to have some more trees in the area, however I don't think it will happen cause it's supposed to be themed to an era of robots destroying mankind, I don't think trees and vegetation go along with that theme very well, who knows, I could be very wrong though, that's just my opinion.

^haha leave it to Eric to come up with something like that! Eric, you rock! Haha. I'm sure that these are different coasters as the customers names are different. I'm really suprised no one has nailed this down yet! -
Two Southern California Scandia Parks

Good pictures, I grew up in the Victorville area and this brings back some memories of that park! What's interesting about the sky screamer is that when we get the monsoon storms up here in the desert which produce some pretty spectacular lightning, they stop the arm in a horizontal position rather than vertical and close the ride. With the screamer being the tallest object for miles around, I would imagine it is a pretty good lightning rod if left vertical! Haha -
Great trip report!! I haven't seen this view of the park in a long time! It's been a few years since I've been able to go so it is nice to see how the park looks from those angles, most ptr's don't show those views! Thank you!

Regarding the size of the entrance bridge you have to remember that there are regulations in building code that ultimately determine how large paths have to be in case of emergency. Now I'm not sure of the size tolerances in this particular case, because I think it's based on the capacity of the area it feeds, but I'm sure the fire marshal will let them know if it is indeed too small. To add to that, I imagine there will be emergency exits in different areas througout the rides perimeter. Geeez, if that bridge were the only acsess in and out of the area, and something like a fire were to happen, could you imagine the trampling that might come from a few hundred people in a panic? That could be very bad!

Hey guys thanks for the replys! I figured the half off deal was gonna be the best I could find, but figured it wouldnt hurt to ask. And as far as the season pass, I was thinking about doing just that but figured I might not come back to the park again this year so didnt want to mess with the processing line an all that (I know in the past that line has been pretty long) so I think im just gonna go with the half off deal. Well thanks again guys!

Hey everyone, I remember seeing a picture of a Burger King coupon either in this topic or the Terminator topic that was a park admission for $29 and was wondering if anyone knows how long that promo is going for? If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it! And while im here, does anyone know if there are any better discounts out there? Thanks!

I don't think there will be many problems with the on board audio system, other than maybe normal wear and tear. As far as the deadline goes, I'm sure they will do extra hours to better their chances if they feel they are behind. Now my personal opinion is that they are on schedule. You would be suprised at what construction workers can pull off when a deadline is approaching. They have a little over a month left and probably 90% of the structure is complete. The station, pre show buildings and themeing can all be done at the same time. I remember when Thomas town was nearing it's deadline and looked as if they weren't going to open on time? Then it seemed like overnight it just popped up and was ready to go! I think we are in for a few exciting weeks of construction ahead of us!

Track Spotted in SO CAL
ethans_dad06 replied to mushrumjaz's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had seen that exact track as well going southbound on interstate 15 between barstow and victorville. Now if it were going to San Diego it would not have gone on the 710, it would have continued down the 15, I would be willing to bet it is going to singapore cause it did look like it was ready for shiping because it was not just strapped to the trailer it was framed up in an open crate fashion. When I first saw it I thought it was vekoma but im not 100% on that. -
What about people that have religious beliefs in not eating meat? What about people that cant eat meat for health reasons? What the hell did that comment add to this conversation other than the fact that you think its a personal problem that someone wants to be a vegetarian? We all don't need to answer to the almighty pure before we make a suggestion to the park, do we? Come on man have some respect for peoples beliefs!
