  1. I guess I should say theres a video with good amounts of testing rather than just good video huh? You guys are right, the quality of the footage is very poor, especially for it being on the official website. But it is nice to see more footage of the trains making the circuit, regardless of quality and source, I guess lol. Oh and as far as the trains just crawling thru the circuit your right it is pretty slugish, and the reason is simply phyisics, less weight = less momentum energy, which in turn will make it seem more slugish around the peaks of the ride's elements. But that video was shot way back on the 7th, which was one of the first days it tested, so they may have adjusted the train to perform better.
  2. Ok Jahan has clarified the policy and no one is FORCED to use the lockers... I had seen that the thread had jumped quite a few pages and thought to myself "cool, sumthin new at SFMM is firing up the boards!" then I had a flashback of this whole locker discusion from a while back as I read through the pages. Now lets all move on to the more interesting topics of SFMM, any new word on what to expect from X2 when it opens as far as the audio and visual experience? Oh and for all of those people that wanted to see video of X2 test runs, the X2 update page has a good video of a few test runs on it...heres the link: http://www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/rides/X2transformation.aspx
  3. Wow, I was just looking online that if you have a unprocessed season pass from last year you can upgrade it to a 2008 season pass for a fee. Well I called them and asked them what the fee is and they told me 35 dollars, does anyone think that this would be negotiable especially since i have been a season pass holder for the last 13 years? I guess im just mad at myself for not goin last year! lol
  4. Dang Eric! You beat me to it! Oh well, so what do you all think of the new X2 logo? I like it better than before, good to see they are constantly improving themselves.
  5. I think that the whole park is a smoke free park, except for deginated smoking areas. Correct me if im wrong someone.
  6. ^Totally agree, even though ACE presented it doesnt take the significance away from the rides history. That ride pioneered the way for so many rides in the world today. Too bad that the GP doesnt have respect for that, or even others property for that matter.
  7. True Eric, but nothing has been confirmed 100% so i think all speculation is fair at this point, and who knows they may suprise all of us with something that no one has even imagined. But I do agree with you that it will most likely be a family type of ride.
  8. That's barely over 1,000pph. What is Vipers max theoretical pph? To answer your question Viper max is 1700 per hour according to RCDB. 3 trains running on Viper seems like overkill unless the line starts spilling out past the entrance. I think 2009 is going to bring us something along the lines of an Intamin hyper. A Intamin hyper huh? Interesting thought, but a very good one at that. As much as I would love to have a Intamin hyper I think I would personally rather have a good rocket coaster, but with a more extensive layout than Xcelerator, maybe even a record breaker, say 490 feet or somthing HaHa that is wishful thinking huh! Seriously though, I think a good rocket coaster would fit nicely in psyclones old spot.
  9. LoL That ride used to be right next to the panda express over by viper and I think they pulled it out to put in more tables for those resturants. The ride consisted of i think five or six of thos little mice carts that ran around a big piece of cheese...it was quite the thrill!! Oh and Robb, kudos to you on your update and also putting on such a great event (along with all the others who put their hard work into it) I was unable to attend this year but cant wait till the day I can join all the fun.
  10. You also have to remember that the old trains were very jerky as well, i saw the old trains make some runs on the track a few days ago and realized that the rotations on the old trains were just as bad, and you have to remember that the new trains need some tweaking done to them im sure (not 100% positive though). Plus the "jerkyness" of the rotations may not even have anything to do with the trains, remember that the rotations are controlled through the extra set of rails on the track and if those arent smooth well then your rotations wont be smooth. the biggest difference in ride quality will be less vibration in the entire train from the way it sounds, and that should cut down in the vibrations in the seats naturaly.
  11. Dang bat man trains on tatsu? That would be wicked!
  12. It is so amazing to hear all the positive comments about Magic Mountain. Just a year ago when the word spread about the park being sold i dont think I heard but maybe a handfull of positive comments about the park and that was mostly just the hardcore fanboys. I have absolutley loved the park since the first time I have gone, even through the "rough years" the park has had, and i have not been to the park in the last two years due to heavy work schedules and starting my family. After hearing all of the positive feedback I can only imagine how fantastic the park has become and can only dream of how much greater it will get. Hopefully i will be able to attend the wcb event next year.
  13. You may be correct NYtrojen, but the bottom line is that it is Six Flags New policy and if it really bothers you that much than you should either A:not ride the rides that enforce this policy, B: deal with the policy and enjoy the rides, or C: Write a letter to them and complain about it, enough people might feel the same way and do the same which in turn may force them to change the policy. The park is there to find the best solution to the problem, and they feel they have found it, if you feel its not the right decision then you need to let them know why rather than moan and complain about it everytime you have to pay a doller to secure your 3 dollar cup.
  14. ^ That was very well said. I personally find it a lil annoying to HAVE to buy a locker if I want to ride their rides, I do understand their reasoning behind it, and after reading the post above I think that six flags is taking a very respectable approach to this. Theres no way to please everybody all the time, and this is one of those times.
  15. I thought it had looked like the rotations were jerky when I saw them test it on the 6th. But as mentioned above, im sure it has alot to do with the seats being empty and little adjustments that need to be ironed out. They were also making runs with the old trains today (the 10th) and I noticed that the rotations were jerky on the first drop and the top of the first raven turn with the old trains. We will have to wait and see what the final result will be. Oh and I had also seen a crew with a manlift working in the track area, maybe construction is starting on the tunnels???
  16. ^ that very well may be the case...it could also be from the seats being empty and all the reduced weight from the redesign, but im sure the kinks will be worked out before its opened to the public. Oh and as far as the tunnels go there has been no construction going on anywhere that i could see...and thats as of yesterday (friday the 7th)
  17. Hey all im new here to the forums...i love the site its new to me too. Well on to the X2 update I have...at about 10:30 am on march 6th they ran the very first test run of X2 with the new trains! They made probably 30 runs with it thru the course of the day. As far as being smooth the old trains rotations seemed to be smoother and more defined than the new trains...they were very jerky, especially on the first drop. The overall speed of the train seemed a lil slugish too but still made the entire course with ease, and boy let me tell you the new trains look and sound extremly sexy!! As far as the jerkyness of the rotations i would imagine that there is some type of adjustment to iron out the smoothness of them but im not sure. I wish I had pictures but when i went to work with my camera today (the 7th) they were not running it. sorry if this isnt news to you guys but i hadnt seen anything on it so i thought id say sumthin;) My mistake guys...i just saw the night pictures of the trains testing...i just hadnt been online cause ive been working alot of hours and was not aware. I have been working right next to the park for the last couple of weeks and this was the first time id seen the new train run...whats weird to me is a few days bfore the new train ran on the 6th they had the old trains makin test runs also...and they had been doin work to the lift all week and i figured that they were using the old trains to test repairs they had made to the lift (they were workin in the area where the chain sproket is at the top of the lift) because the new trains were not ready or sumthin. Thats what I get for assuming i guess! lol
