  1. Too funny. Poor Coasterboy is probably still curled up in the fetal position, hugging his blankie. By the way, where can I download the Nemo ride?
  2. 10/20 on mostly guesses besides the TPR question and the last question.
  3. I know how to GUARANTEE success for the park. Just rename it "KILL ALL LAWYERS PARK". No offense to any lawyers out there, but man... When does common sense ever enter into the legal equation? The only fitting end to this particular legal issue would be for the judge to rule that while Goodwin's corporation does own the intellectual property, that said property is worthless, as evidenced by the crash-and-burn failure of the park. Slam the gavel and declare, "Judgement in favor of Mr Goodwin's corporation in the amount of $0.00, reflecting the value of the intellectual property." ...Then Doug Lewellen interviews the parties outside the chambers. Roll credits.
  4. I think he did exactly what he had to do given the situation. He was talking to the press. If he had made the slightest acknowledgment of the possibility of bankruptcy, the headline would have been: CEO THINKS SIX FLAGS MIGHT DECLARE BANKRUPTCY You hit the nail on the head. He has to come across as confident. The head management at SFMM came across as similarly confident during WCB 09. If you believe you can accomplish something, regardless of the circumstances or challenges that you face, then chances are far better that you will succeed. Attitude isn't everything, but it's pretty damn close.
  5. While I've been very impressed with many positive changes at SFMM, I've got to agree that they whiffed with Thomas Town. I've seen several PTRs since Thomas Town was completed and most show it empty, or nearly empty. It was all but empty when we visited on the week of 4th of July last summer as well. Not that I care about the popularity of Thomas Town per se, it's just that I like the park heading in a more family friendly direction. I hope the kiddie areas they add are successful for that reason. I think a couple more attractions, like a Bertie Bus and Harold Helicopter, would help to fill out the area and make it more popular. I can't imagine those cost too much either.
  6. The official announcement and flyer were made available over a month and half before the event. You can check the date of the first post in this thread to verify that. I doubt that many people have a boss less accommodating to their employees scheduling time off than I do, yet I was still able to make it to the event. Just remember to start watching for an announcement sometime in February and you should be able to make it as well. It's a great event and not to be missed.
  7. S:TE gets my vote. That ride could have been named Flight Deck and the sound would have made the name appropriate.
  8. He definitely has something going on around the destroying the matix/managing the alien world type of look! All we know is what he does during the day! You know... I did see a bright flash over near Terminator. I think it was right about the time that one of the tours was ending. So here's what I think happened: Tim summoned some of his time traveling alien buddies to zap you all into the future. While there, you joined the resistance, fought off the Terminators, rode the coaster, and thereby saved mankind as we know it. After all that excitement, the aliens brought you back to our time where Tim busted out his MIB mind eraser zapper thing-a-ma-jig and erased your memory of any of those events having transpired. Or... Someone took a flash picture. You decide.
  9. I'm sure that WCB has to be putting some serious pressure on Solace. Hopefully that will push Knott's to improve their event. I considered going to Solace and WCB, but with Xcelerator being iffy, I couldn't bring myself to commit to it. Also consider that I'm footing the bill for 7 attendees, so I've got to factor in the "bang for the buck" part of the deal. WCB alone was great, and exceptionally affordable. I don't regret not attending Solace. If they step it up a notch or 2, then I may make plans for it in the future. As it stands now, I think it is expressed in the enthusiam on this forum for WCB, and relative lack thereof for Solace, that WCB is clearly the superior event. Don't get me wrong, I like Knott's. I just don't like it enough to justify spending twice as much for a lesser event.
  10. Personally, I thought he was going for more of a "Men In Black" look.

    email Dan?

As near as I can tell, we email Dan because he finds unsolicited emails annoying. Is that right? Also, when did the "email Dan" thing start? I was just considering this while sending Dan my comments on the various aspects of WCB highlighted by Robb in the WCB update. You know, the ones where Robb suggests we email Dan. Anyhow, I was just curious. Thanks.
  12. Thank you for the update. WCB is just all sorts of awesome. It is pretty amazing that even with 700+ attendees, the ERT lines for most rides were nonexistent, and X2's queue was very acceptable. I am very happy to have picked up some missing credits on rides that usually have prohibitive waits. I just happened to notice that Terminator will be opening on Ascension Day. Odd coincidence, or not? In any event, I really look forward to riding it. Did they mention if the canal would play any part in the theming? I ask since I didn't attend any of the Terminator tours. I had planned to, but my daughter thought her blood sugar was a little elevated so we had to head back to the lockers and check it. I'm sure the diabetics here will understand why that had to take precedence over the tour. I do appreciate all the great pictures that people have posted from the tours though.
  13. Those damned tacos result in pregnancy with frightening regularity.
  14. Thank you for posting the scores and the picture of the plaque. There was a lot of work put into that scava-ganza and we appreciated it.
  15. ^ At the time, I would have agreed. That has been the all time sucky episode so far, at least in my opinion. However, many subsequent episodes have shown promise. Once they started in on the time travel stuff, I felt the show was on a slippery slope. It just seems to be slipping faster after last night. Not only do they continue to leave far too many stoylines hanging, they keep opening up new ones, of which many will probably also be left hung out to dry.
  16. Wow! I'm already insanely jealous. Must have... More pictures...
  17. You can usually add 4 more words to that... High Dollar High Maintenance! Have fun Big Mike!
  18. Does anyone happen to have a picture of the plaque that was the undoing of many of the scavenger hunt teams? After spending so much time looking for it, and never finding it, I'd be interested to know where it is just so I can check it out the next time I'm at the park.
  19. It looks like you gave Mr. Six all he could handle. Thanks for the pictures and video.
  20. Personally, I'm glad the seat belts were added. They provide considerable reassurance on the first lift. I had mine snugged up very tight, and was glad I did.
  21. It sure would be nice to see some sort of cohesive storyline begin to emerge at some point in this show. I have hopes that they've got some silver bullet that will eventually tie everything together, but I'm honestly beginning to wonder if that will be possible. If they continue to further splinter the plot then we may reach a point where all the King's horses, and all the King's men, can't put LOST back together again. That is, if we haven't passed that point already. Has LOST "jumped the shark" yet? I've thought it did several times both last season and again this season. The thing is.. Will we really be able to determine when the show "jumped" until it concludes and we can look back? I'm really of the opinion right now that the show has "jumped". It's just exactly when that I'm having a hard time pin-pointing.
  22. Our group in general, and my daughter in particular, had a lot of fun with the scavenger hunt, frustration of the plaque search notwithstanding. It was pretty low of someone to have hidden the plaque. Karma will get you though, so I've moved on. It was really of no consequence to our team anyway, as we were all scavenger noobs and honestly only doing the hunt for the fun of it. And it was fun. You'd have thought we struck gold when we found the sign while strolling down from Tatsu toward Viper. It was a very "Eureka!" moment. You can count on our team to be better prepared next year and we'll try to make a run at actually finishing with a respectable score. On another note, I was finally able to ride X2 and Deja Vu at WCB 09. Those 2 coasters had eluded me on a total of 8 previous trips over the past 6 years. My coaster count, when I count dual track coasters as one ride, has finally hit the small milestone of 50. X2 was #49 and Deja Vu #50. I enjoyed both of them, with X2 moving to the top of my list. I feel fortunate that although I'm somewhat limited as to the coaster events that I'm able to attend, I am able to attend the best event there is... WEST COAST BASH! I hope that everyone involved in the event understands how much we appreciate it, and how impressive it is that you are able to continually make it better and better each year. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
  23. 26 is me, John Welch, TPR name Mechanic. 27 is a family friend, Tyler. 28 is my daughter, Whitney. 29 is my son, Charlie. 30 is Charlie's best friend, Jesse. 31 is my oldest son, Kevin. 32 is my wife, Marie. Everyone in our group really enjoyed the card game. We didn't have a spade in the group, but we still had fun meeting you and getting our pictures taken with a real live celebrity. All the kids thought it was cool to get to talk to you for a little while up near Ninja during the night ERT. Tyler said to be sure to say THANK YOU for autographing his card for him. Edited to attach the photos. John Tyler Whitney Charlie Jesse Kevin Marie
