  1. I'm very certain that the suggestions of a LeBron James themed ride are a joke. Why do people keep taking it seriously?
  2. Lemon chill guy? Dippin Dots guy? C'mon! Those guys know nothing! I get my info from the Chocolate-dipped Frozen Banana guy!
  3. How about a simple anagram of the old name: SITMAN Unless, of course, SONY already copyrighted that name.
  4. Exactly. You can also lean forward. I have drilled into my son's head on Arrows with OSR's to lean forward and keep your head out of them. But once you know the layout, you can anticipate as Rob just said. The best way to make an SLC rideable as well! Or keep your head firmly against one side!
  5. Though I don't think the layout will change I, personally, would like to see them try to at least break the American records for most inversions on one coaster since the most we have is seven. Don't know how they would be able to add four more inversions to the existing layout but I would love to see a zero-G since I don't see the inclined loop staying. Will the ride go back to three train operation like Mantis was originally supposed to run or will they stick with two? Why couldn't they keep the inclined loop?
  6. While speculation about the fate of a ride and what may or may not replace it can be fun, I for one can wait a month and a half to find out the real story. Am I going to go ride Mantis one last time? Probably not, I always found it a bit too painful to be fun. But I anticipate the upcoming change with excitement.
  7. Chuck, I always felt the same way about SOB. When I heard it was being removed, I was so joyful that people around me probably thought I had brain damage. Though, if I did have brain damage, I could easily blame it on Son of Beast.
  8. cfc said: Am I the only one that laughed hysterically at that? "Ain't nobody got time for that!" Too bad about Firehawk, I thought it was decent when it was up here at Six Flags Ohio- Worlds of Geauga Lake. But as a Vekoma, I guess it falls apart quick! Robb or Elissa, how did KT like the Beast?
  9. Did Kentucky Kingdom re-use the station from Greezed Lightnin' for Lightning Run? Good to see they are open again and getting back on their feet.
  10. I agree, The Beast at night= awesomeness
  11. LOL-ing over this one! At the first pic I knew something looked familiar, and I've never been to Wisconsin (though I can't imagine it being much different than Cleveland) Thanks for the laughs as usual!
  12. This makes me sad ... but honeslty I can't say it surprises me. At least I'll have the memories of plenty of years riding it.
  13. It's amazing how much the park has changed in the years since I lived in St. Louis. Those log flumes used to seem so big to me! And yes, Colossus (the ferris wheel) gives you excellent views of the park.
  14. I found this in my stash of randomness.. from my first visit to WDW back in 1986. I was only a tot then, but I remember bits of this trip. Unfortunately, I don't remember much of World of Motion, which is a pity because it is fascinating how much this pavilion has changed in the metamorphosis into Test Track. For those who weren't around to see it, WoM used to have an educational dark ride using Omnimovers, much like Spaceship Earth still is. Much of the rest of the building was the Transcenter, where General Motors (the sponsor of the pavilion then as well as now) displayed their latest products and technologies. Most of the pamphlet showcases GM vehicles, but the second page and the back cover show the pavilion. Not much info on the pavilion, but I thought it worth posting for posterity's sake anyway. There are some on ride videos of World of Motion on Youtube. (not mine) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ-mfRQhC8M Calico System.nltrack Back when it was EPCOT Center. That is the Aero 2000 concept car. The map is fascinating. I just wish it showed the ride's path through the building Wow! back when the Astro was kind of new! "We Build Excitement"- not anymore Another extinct brand Buick is now a bestselling brand... in China. The new Cadillacs look so much better! Photos of the pavilion. The top one is a scene from the ride.
  15. 14/20 on the past & present US parks. Not as good as I'd hoped for, but oh well. 22/25 on the Disney quiz (I didn't know when DisneySea opened; where there is another Gadget's Go Coaster; and what the first free-range animatronic dino's name is) 22/25 on the Cedar Point quiz Thought I would do better, but I was wrong. There are some TOUGH questions! Where is Lucky the dinosaur, anyway?
  16. ^ I totally agree. That's why I had to vote for him, he put so much effort into it.
  17. 1. Purplepills 2. JimmyBo 3. Supercrack Great ideas guys! You put good effort into your submissions!
  18. Great pics! I'm a photography enthusiast, but your work looks very professional. All I can say is, Well Done! ^Er, I'm guessing your pics of Maverick are from construction? Maverick opened in 2007, But I have lots of construction pics from 2006 (actually, construction started just after the 2005 season!)
  19. No, I'm pretty sure the Blue Streak at CP lost the manual brake quite a while ago. The first time I went to Cedar Point was 1994, and although I can't quite remember if it had them then (probably not), I'm certain that by 2001 they had been replaced by the computerized brakes. Regarding your first point about the handles looking like decoration, the Big Dipper at Geauga Lake had its manual brakes right up to the time Six Flags turned the park into Six Flags Ohio. When it was converted to computerized brakes, they left the handles still in the floor, inoperative but still there as decoration. One final note about another "gone but not quite" coaster, it always amused me how the brakes on the Conneaut Lake Park Blue Streak curved around before reaching the station- which is not possible to do with squeeze brakes. Or Waldameer's Comet curved station. With hi tech squeeze brakes we lost the more interesting station and brake designs.
  20. Sorry, I should have worded it differently. The shoe slides have always been there, but it's just recently that they reworked that area in the building, and made it so guests could play in there. If you look at dj snow's pictures of the shoe slides, they have added the bars across the top to make sure no one falls out! That would be a nasty plunge! ___________________________ Nate "was too chicken to climb to the top of MonstroCity" Leyes
  21. Oh, I love St. Louis. I just went back to my hometown (I grew up in St. Peters) just last week, to visit my sister. Couldn't squeeze in Six Flags, but we did go to the Zoo and Missouri Botanical Gardens (Shaw's Garden), both of which are widely regarded as among the finest in the country. We also did some other things in Forest Park, as well as of course the Arch, and the one thing that must be visited on any St. Louis trip, Ted Drewes. ^And yes, FLIPDUDE, the City Museum IS a totally random place. Skilled artists have transformed it from a shoe factory into what it is now. Everything in it is junk that has been recycled and made into everything from stairway bannisters to slides. Click here to visit the City Museum website. It really does have some museum in it, as in the architectural hall which has relics from St. Louis buildings gone past, but most of the place is like a playground for everyone. The Enchanted Caves was the highlight for me. Crawling around exploring wonderful sculpture is just plain fun. They have since added on the shoe slides and more, so I must go to the City Museum again the next time we visit.
  22. Like I said, there's a lot of coasters I haven't been on, but this one is an airtime machine!
  23. Look at the queue line... Doesn't it look like 300 ACErs leaned against those railings?!?
  24. I'm glad to see that Dominator is doing well in its new home. It was my favorite Geauga Lake coaster along with Big Dipper. Did it get new trains? They looked new in the pics. As long as they don't have the ugly gouge in the seats where they cut out the Batman logo!
