  1. Wow, RIP Dorney Park, I guess. Well, they did officially come out and say that Wildwater Kingdom wasn't opening with Dorney Park's rides on the 8th, but haven't ruled it out completely. CF also owns (and operates?) those two Schlitterbahn parks in Texas, and they've been open since the middle of June. In states where masks are not mandated, staffing is probably a major issue more than anything else. Figure 2 lifeguards per pair of slides, not to mention the 10 at the wave pool and who-knows-how-many for the lazy river, then you have all of the food service stands...it all adds up. In states that have said "if you're in a public place you have to wear a mask," then waterparks are a non-starter.
  2. No they shouldn't do that right now. With cases rising parks are the last thing that should open. After watching videos from Indiana Beach people obviously can't follow social distancing. "Number of cases" is a worthless metric that will of course be skyrocketing now that they're conducting more testing. "Hospitalizations" is a better number to pay attention to, but the media never mentions that number, because for most of the country it doesn't fit their "the sky is falling" narrative. My local newspaper is one of the few that does. For example, despite a "massive increase!!!!11!" of 132 positive cases in Delaware reported Saturday, we currently have only 53 people hospitalized and a whopping 15 that are considered critical. And they are decidedly left-wing and were claiming it was the end of days when this COVID nonsense started. Those two numbers have been plummeting the past few weeks, despite more and more reopenings...Delaware is pretty much back to normal activity, albeit at reduced food service/retail capacity. Indiana Beach may be the worst example you could possibly reference. Plenty of other parks are getting by just fine, with people for the most part "following the rules," and there is no difference between Virginia and Ohio or Pennsylvania or New Jersey or any other state where parks have opened that calls for Virginia to maintain their closure.
  3. Quick review of Wildwood/Morey's 4th of July: -The entirety of Mariner's Pier except for Sea Serpent appeared to be operating, including the water park and PigDog. -Surfside Pier was closed further back than Kong; everything "in front" of that appeared to be operating. -I encountered 0 wait for either pier; Mariner's at 12:00 and Surfside at 5:00. Take their "We highly recommend you spend money to guarantee your spot on the pier!!!!1!1!" with a grain of salt. -99% of boardwalk stands/business were open, at least between Mariner's and Surfside. -On the piers, I'd say probably 95% mask wearing. On the boardwalk, less than 5%. Both of which I'm fine with.
  4. Just sayin', listing a wild-mouse-in-a-box in your top ten, with some of the most intense coasters in the world, kinda weakens your credibility. Not saying I disagree with your assessment (to be confirmed in a week and a half when I make it to KI), just kinda sayin'...
  5. Are their CP-employed mechanics dedicated to each coaster, perhaps even specially trained on Inatmin rides? Sure, I'd believe that. But I'm not going to believe that there's a branch of Intamin AG on-site at Cedar Point. If that were the case, Dragster wouldn't have like 50% downtime each year.
  6. Either way, your best bet is to just call Express and ask them rather than hope that someone has been in your exact situation in the...oh wait, that's right they're not even open yet this year, when for obvious reasons everything might be different than in the past. How could anyone possibly know? Just call them. I'll even look up their number for you. Here you go: (419) 626-0830.
  7. No one, including CP, has said you won't be able to buy you parking pass at Express as you have in the past. Tndank was saying that you will have to pay if you want to move your car from the express lot to Cedar Point, they said nothing about where you have to pay. That said, the world is a different place than what it was last season, so your best bet is to just call Express and ask if you can buy a parking pass there.
  8. In the defense of Knoebel's original policy, the Governor of PA has mandated that masks be worn in public places effective today, so I'm not sure how much of the change was their choice.
  9. They haven't even announced a date that non-passholders will be able to go, but if it's like Kings Island's system, there are separate counters for Passholders and Daily Ticket holders. And yes, in terms of a Platinum Pass, it doesn't matter which park's website you buy it through, you can process it at any CF park. Gold/regular Season Passes are park-specific.
  10. Thanks for the heads up; got my second day booked! And now, no more need to spend $$$$$ to stay at Express to get the guaranteed entry, so I'm rebooked at the famed Econo Lodge North for $350 less.
  11. In short, because wind will be pushing the mask into your face. Same reason glasses stay on. Unless you tilt your head extremely up or down to allow air to catch under/above the masks, it'll be fine.
  12. It definitely does say Onion. Look at the bottom where it says "rings."
  13. I can't say for certain, but Dorney and KD have the same system, so I'd say it's a fair bet that KI uses the same system too. This question is also probably answerable on their website.
  14. Unfortunately, except for the 4th of July, the park won't be open late enough this year to actually experience it while on the ride.
  15. Whatever makes you feel better. If more people are socializing, there will be more spread, this is inevitable regardless of what kind of phased reopening you try to implement. Whether or not this increased spread is acceptable or cause for re-closing things, that's between you and your governor.
  16. That makes no sense. If you believe the hype, reopening is what has caused these "spikes" in some areas, so how would that make NY state in a good position to reopen?
  17. That's probably right. Both are capacity machines. Banshee is probably up there too.
  18. Passholder reservation system is now online. Only able to book one day (so far).
  19. Awesome. Second day booked. Thanks for keeping us all appraised on this, using whatever inside source you have.
  20. CF should file a lawsuit to force his hand like they did in Ohio. I'd say get SEAS to join in for BGW, but we all know they're not in the best financial position right now...
  21. Their website answers all of your questions. It looks like Flying Turns will be closed and the campgrounds have been open for some time. They have said that some rides that don't open with the park may open at a later date, "depending on project completion and additional hiring."
  22. Agreed. Unless you can temper you expectations to realize that everything is going to suck. Granted, I'm going to KI for 2 days and CP for 3 in a few weeks, but I fully expect everything not to be running, lines to be long, and food service to be a shitshow. I just need a dose of normalcy in my life, and if I can't go get drunk and play video games at my local Dave and Busters, coasters it is.
  23. When I was there in 2017 they did not have any locker requirements. Just be advised that you will need a riding partner for Thunderbolt, which in this post-COVID world probably can't be a stranger.
  24. Then don't go to the park and/or don't ride Orion out of protest. The park won't miss you, and I'll appreciate one less person in front of me in line.
  25. No idea; I don't have a pass or tickets, and you can't access the actual reservation system without one of those.
