NEWS: Two new Six Flags Parks for 2005
Paul replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's planned to open in fall of this year, to be open year-round...the only thing is, I think the indoor waterpark will be open to hotel guests only, or there will be some separate fee for it. One thing that will benefit most of us regular visitors, though, will be the addition of a pedestrian bridge over the road from the parking lot, similar to the one they have at Six Flags New England. -Paul "Maybe I'll pay to go to the waterpark once, just to see it" Bleichert -

^It's not really called that, it's just called The Great Escape. I think if they do ever flag the park, it woud be Six Flags Great Escape. There is evidence of a possible future flagging, with the new Six Flags hotel and indoor waterpark, as well as the re-naming of Desperado Plunge into "Poland Springs Plunge". I think they should have planned a flagging for this year, since they branded that ride into the Six Flags name. Maybe 2006... -
Battle of the Manufacturers

^I never knew that Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop coasters were supposed to be that forceful....but I've never been on one, so I wouldn't know. Coasters like Laser at Dorney and Mindbender at Edmonton look like they'd beat 95% of the B&M coasters out there, though. -
^^Yeah, those "hill-trims" on Silver Star look like they'd kill any hope of airtime. The floater airtime is nice on Nitro in the back seat, though...but you're right, it is pretty overrated.

^But the only Lake George tourists that ever go to Great Escape are the motorcycle festival people, and you DON'T want to go there while they're in town...they're a pretty rough crowd. Most tourists to Lake George are older people, and don't visit Great Escape. As I said before, most (like 98%) of the guests are locals, usually between the ages of 15-25, and wouldn't need a hotel, since they live in the area. Great Escape is in no way a destination park, like Cedar Point is.

^I think there's some Schwarzkopfs out there that seem like they'd be better than most B&M coasters. -

Intamin. I'd like to get on more of their hypercoasters, since Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE is amazing. As for B&M, it seems like a lot of their coasters are very forceless. The only B&M coasters that I've enjoyed a lot for their forces are Batman: The Ride and Batman: The Dark Knight. Medusa is rated pretty highly among enthusiasts, but I really just didn't feel anything during that ride, and I'm pretty big on forces. -
^^^I'd agree with you that The Great Escape is underrated, but it's been starting to live up to it's low ratings in the last year or two. Yes, the Comet and a few other coasters at Great Escape are excellent, but the park itself seems to be going in the wrong direction. For example, parts of Ghost Town look like they're falling apart, ride capacity is getting worse and worse, and for this year, Chipper's Magical Mystery Ride, which was an indoor scrambler with a 10 minute ride cycle and strobe lights, is being taken out of it's building, and will operate under the name "Blizzard". Also, I'm really unhappy that we're getting stuck with Great Adventure's used kiddie rides. If they have to put in a bunch of kiddie rides, they could at least be new ones, and not from Six Flags Great Adventure, of all places. However, we're getting that hotel and indoor waterpark that will open next fall, but I just really wonder how much use most visitors would get out of it, since the majority of people that go to Great Escape are us locals, and we have no use for a hotel. And as far as the hotel goes, there really isn't anything special about Great Escape, except for the Comet, that will bring in tourists...so it just seems like a bad investment. -Paul "...and I will NEVER ride anything called the Lolly Swing...never!" I like both, but they're sort of differently ranked for me. I'm a big airtime junkie, like Robb, but I also like a forceful ride, which a lot of coasters just don't seem to provide. For example, I'd take a ride on The Comet at Great Escape over Nitro or Medusa any day, mainly because of the airtime differences. But, I don't really consider Superman: Ride of Steel to have "ejector" airtime, since it's different in that you don't really get banged up into the lapbar, but it's WAY farther out of your seat than any floater airtime, and it's pretty powerful. I call it "abrupt" airtime. There's just too many differences to compare them, and the ride experiences have a few similarities, but are very different for the most part. -Paul "I always thought I was the only one who wasn't impressed with Nitro" Bleichert

Sounds like a network drive to me...at my school we have an H-drive for our things. Since it is most likely a network drive, the answer is...you can't. You would have to go back to the school, plug into the network, and then go into the drive...if your drive account even exists still on their server. Other than that, everything on it from your college days are gone forever...

I don't know why people think Algebra is so hard...I thought it was pretty easy. It's geometry that sucks, my teacher is one sadistic b*tch! Some schools water the subject down a bit by not making students learn these evil little things called "proofs", but since I'm in the advanced Geometry class, we have to do them. =( -Paul "Just wait until you future-engineers have to learn Boolean Algebra...now that's fun!" ^But if I had that as my title, I might as well add "ACE Member For 10 Years" to my signature. =P -Paul "Not an ACE Member, I swear!" Bleichert

Got any other suggestions then, Gregg?

Elissa, could you please change mine to just be "PreppieBoy9489"? I'd rather have it there than in my signature, since I was only "previously" PreppieBoy9489 on WestCoaster...if that makes sense... Thanks!

^Oh, well it still looks pretty cool. Just a question, I can't seem to be able to find the custom title option in my profile. Is it an admin-only option, or is it in a part of my profile I haven't found yet...? Also, I'd recommend changing the order of the profile fields, it just doesn't seem to flow right. It would look better if it went something like: Name Gender Age Location Joined Date Posts ...or something of that nature. If you don't know how to change it, you can switch the order in the /templates/subSilver/viewtopic.tpl file via ftp, the same way you add modifications to the forum. -Paul "Just a suggestion!"
