Nice find. Thanks for posting this. --Robb -
I saw that too. After reading the article, I like the name even less....and I hate it to begin with! I feel there were two MAJOR "fails" on the name: 1. The word "Freestyle" alone just is a strange word to begin with, and certainly doesn't seem to fit an "amusement park." Perhaps in Russia this name may ring a better bell, but in the US, it just sounds really wrong. 2. "Freestyle Music" - Now that you know they weren't replacing the word "Hard Rock" with "Freestyle Music" (like as if they ran the words through Mr. Thesauraus or something) it makes even LESS sense. I forget who mentioned it, but I think even the name "Freestyle Park" is better than "Freestyle MUSIC Park" because "Freestyle Music" exists as an entity which may confuse people into thinking the park is based on some off the wall music genre. Basically, it seems to be that this Russian group wanted really badly to use the "Freestyle" name (That's the name of their company), and that was part of the deal. They kept "music" because of the original music theme. And probably had NO PROBLEM trademarking that name because, quite frankly, it's terrible. I really think a little more thought should have been put into it other than just taking the name of the company and slapping the words "music park" on the end of it. Seriously, I was giving them SOME credit that there was a little bit of thought put into the name, but now after reading that article you come to realize that ZERO thought was put into the name. --Robb

PREPARING FOR SURGERY Orlando, Fla. – SeaWorld veterinarian Dr. Lara Croft evaluates a Kemp’s Ridley turtle – one of 11 endangered sea turtles the has recently filled the park’s rehabilitation center to capacity. An unexplained mass stranding along Florida’s northeast coast is thought to be the cause of unusually high rescue numbers. SeaWorld is working with the University of Florida and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission to hopefully discover the cause of the stranding. Photo by SeaWorld I always wondered what Lara Croft would do after Tomb Raider. Glad to see she's saving turtles!

^ I appreciate you replying and telling us about your camera, but are you actually able to answer any of the questions above? Other than saying you edit in Premiere elements, a little more detail would have been appreciated. For example: What kind of computer and graphics card do you have? If you gave me this information and I started running into the same problems at least I'd know this is a common issue with similar configurations. How so? It's one thing to tell us about a problem, but what was your solution? That's what I'm asking about...what are the solutions that people are finding? Which program? What is the process? What does it convert to? What kind of files are you opening? What resolution are they? Is it more work or is it not? You basically just contradicted yourself in that sentence! And what makes it more difficult? Again, I really do appreciate you responding, but I want everyone to know that I'm specifically looking for some solutions here, not other people's problems. Thank you for your help. --Robb

Do you listen to them while wearing this T-Shirt?

So as many of you all know the world is going HD so that means that TPR eventually had to do it too. While we won't be producing any "BlueRay" DVDs in the next couple of years (until the price for raw materials drop) we will be shooting everything in HD and probably creating some HD content downloads. So having said all that, we have some new equipment and a few questions about this HD world. Some of our new equipment records onto a memory stick or the internal hard drive an .mts AVCHD file, and if anyone has used these file types, please let me know. Ok, now the questions - 1. Have any of you had experience with these AVCHD .mts files? I've heard that you can import them into CS4, but I haven't tried it yet. I know there are other ways to convert them, but I haven't found too much. I want to be able to import into Premiere and edit like I do when I capture off a DV tape. 2. Which "record mode" to use? There is HD FH (16m), HD HQ (9m), HD SP (7m), and HD LP (5m). For those of you using an HD camera, which one do you currently use and what results have you gotten? 3. Have you seen any difference in quality from DV tape based HD cameras and memory stick based cameras? 4. What do you use to edit/capture with? 5. Once I have edited something in HD, what do I need to do to play it back on my HD TV? 6. Any other suggestions? Like any settings that I should know about that may be overlooked. (for example, I've found many people never knew about recording 16 bit audio versus 12 bit on the DV camera because the factory setting was 12 bit) I know some of these may sound like basic questions, and I think I know the answers to most of them, but I'm totally new at HD so I want to make sure I'm getting as much information as possible. Thank you! --Robb

Really? Am I the only one that thinks it looks like it was made in about 5 minutes in Photoshop? Seriously, the guitar with loops is *slightly below average* at best (honestly, it's terrible), and then the font looks like a stock Windows TTF font. I'm sure I've used it on something before.... --Robb EDIT - as an example, here is the logo for our upcoming Coaster Expedition Volume 12 DVD. If *I* can have a logo and artwork put together that looks this good, a theme park should be able to do a million times better.... You guys do see my point, right? If TPR can create a logo that looks this good, why can't a theme park? Here's our Scandi Tour shirt. Seriously, this doesn't cost that much or take much time to put together. I speak from experience. If *I* can produce kick ass logos and art there is no reason why a park can't do this also!

Seriously, they could have just renamed it something generic like "Myrtle Beach Fun Park" or even "Myrtle Beach Amusement Park" would have been a better name. Why did they THINK they had to find a name to shoehorn into the old theme? You have to re-name everything already, so why not just start from scratch and over time phase out the music theme that didn't seem to work in the first place and start over again? It's clear the new owners felt they needed to keep the music theme in tact, but without the "Hard Rock" brand behind it, IMO, I just don't think it works. I mean, if you're going to land on a name as bad as "Freestlye Music Park" you might well have just called it "Soft Rock Park" and licensed Kenny Loggins. --Robb

I hear what you are saying. But I think those other parks you mentioned, as silly as the names may be, made sense for the park. This to me just sounds like they were scrambling for a name. It's one thing to scramble to re-name an already established ride from "Top Gun" to "Flight Deck" at a park that already has an attendance base, but in this case they are trying to build a "brand" that will have longevity. IMO, when you name a park you *NEED* to put some thought into it. Just look at the trouble Visionland/Alabama Adventure has had over the years, but they at least have a top 10 woodie and they are in a good location that helps them out. Other examples are Geauga Lake/Six Flags Ohio/Six Flags Worlds of Adventure/Geauga Lake and Lesourdesville Lake Park/Americana/Lesourdesville Lake Park. And look at where those parks are today! "Freestyle Music Park" IMO sounds more like a museum or a skateboard park. I either see the park failing or the park's name being changed yet again in a short amount of time. It's just a bad name. Really bad. Like "Flight Deck" bad.... --Robb

^ Assuming you mean the Alton Towers Corkscrew? No, sorry. I've already got about 40 coasters on the list (20 wood, 20 steel) and all of them seem to have a bit more significance than a Vekoma Corkscrew. No offense or anything, but I just don't see an "off-the-shelf" model of a ride that you can still ride in plenty of other parks being added. I've stuck with custom made coasters, rides of a dying breed, or rides with other unique elements. IMO, adding the Alton Towers Corkscrew would be like adding a dufunct Boomerang or SLC on the disc. IMO, I just don't see the point in it. --Robb EDIT: As for steel coasters, this is what I have on the list so far: Cop Car Chase Double Loop (Kobe) Doulbe Loop (Geauga Lake) Double Loop (Fuji-Q) Flashback (SFMM) Batman (Astroworld) Bullet (Flamingoland) Orochi Batman & Robin: The Chiller Viper (SFGadv) High Roller (Stratosphere) Hayabusa XLR-8 Orient Express (Worlds of Fun) Fujin Ragin II WindJammer Bobsled (Kobe) Bobsled (Nara Dreamland) Laser (Dorney) Zonga Quantum Loop

What exactly are you trying to say? Is your point trying to be "Give Freestyle Music Park a chance because even a park named Muscle Park can be a success?" Because if it is, that's a really, really bad analogy. Many of us who have been to Muscle Park understand why the name works for the park and the Japanese culture. Do you actually know anything about Muscle Park and it's history? Because if you did you would know that this is not a good comparison at all. If you're going to look for a comparison, please not try to be clueless about it. --Robb

All I can say to "Freestyle Music Park"..... LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!! OMG! Seriously, could this be the WORST THEME PARK NAME....EVAR? I mean, really? FREESTYLE MUSIC PARK? WHAT - THE - FU*K It's just terrible. Absolutely terrible. "Hey kids, let's go to Freestyle Music Park!" "What is that mom?" "I have no idea...but we can see the CSI Live show there!" Does anyone else think this is heading down the road to epic fail? I may be wrong, but I would personally get to the park this season, because I'm not counting on there being a 3rd season of this place... --Robb
