Kolmården Discussion Thread

What's hard to tell from the video is where airtime will actually be. If you remember, the Outlaw Run video looked more twisty than full of airtime, but in reality there is crazy airtime all over that ride! You get launched out of your seat sideways, upside down ways, and places that don't look like you should get airtime from the video. So you never know! -
^ I think that is absolutely correct. After what happened with Maruer on Rip Ride Rockit and then again Universal working with Vekoma on Battlestar, I cannot image they would go with anyone but B&M to re-do what is probably their #1 signature attraction. Weirder things have happened, but if I were a gambling man, I'd place my bets that the information saying it's B&M is correct.

Exactly. We all make "choices" on how we spend our money and what value we place on those things. And that value goes beyond the actual ticket price. I feel as though I get way more personal value out of my Disney pass that goes above and beyond the ticket price. I can say the same for my MacBook also!

So let's breakdown what you said for a moment, because this is actually a great example... You used to go once a week, or about 48 times per year. Parking is $18. If you paid for parking each time that would have cost you $864. The price of the lower tier pass that includes parking is $849. You would have made up the cost of the pass in parking alone, and admission to the park would have been totally free. Even if you went half that amount, the cost of each visit would be $35 including parking, and considering that parking is $18, you're now looking at each visit costing you $17 if you only went twice per month. The only way these passes aren't a good deal is if you buy them and only use it a couple of times. And I have to believe that anyone that's going to spend $849 or $1049 is going frequent enough for the pass to pay for itself many times over. Aren't I right?

In all fairness (even though he doesn't deserve it), living in SoCal is so expensive that even shopping at Walmart is a scary idea for a budget. But this is exactly why Disneyland offers different tiers. I get that not everyone can afford every pass, but the lowest tier is still less than $50 per month and a one-day, one-park ticket is $99. And it's not like the blackout dates are THAT insane. I'm sure someone could figure out time to visit the park once a month if they were that big of a fan and make it work. What frustrates me is that, in most cases, the monthly payment for either a Disneyland or WDW pass is probably less than someone would spend on a nice dinner somewhere. Let's put this into perspective here... An average dinner at a place like Outback Steakhouse will run you about $45 for an app, entree, dessert, and a beer. That's about the same amount as one month of going to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Can someone please explain to me how a month of theme parks is NOT a better deal than one meal? You can't. And this is what I mean when i say "make better or different choices."

It's ok, folks, I took care of the "sokalkostr problem." One less SoCal self-entitled attitude among us... Challenge accepted. Turns out this IS a stereo-typical SoCal a$$hole we've known for a while and was banned from the forums before. Apparently he just couldn't stay away and just HAD to create a new screen name because, you know, he's Californian and WHAT HE HAS TO SAY IS IMPORTANT!!! But no, he was just an obnoxious jerk when we knew him then, and apparently he still is now. You can't change people. You can't fix stupid. And you most certainly cannot reason with your self-entitled SoCal jerk. Bu-bye, Jon LoCoco. You weren't welcome here before, and you're most certainly not welcome here now! It would seem to me the basis of the complaints are due to not being able to afford the *most expensive* pass, but perhaps the lesson here is to make better or different life choices so you can afford stuff you want? No one is forcing anyone to get the most expensive pass and I refuse to believe that people cannot work around the block out dates for the least expensive pass. What frustrates me is that, in most cases, the monthly payment for either a Disneyland or WDW pass is probably less than someone would spend on a nice dinner somewhere. It honestly varies. When we lived in SoCal and had a pass, there would be weekends we would go down (we lived 1-2 hours away based on stupid traffic) and spend the whole weekend including a hotel stay, other times we would go down just for the day. We would probably go once a month on average. Probably about 20 "park visits" per year. Here in Orlando, where we live 15 minutes away from the park without any annoying traffic, we'll go 2-3 times per week sometimes. And those visits could be just few a few hours all the way to an entire day depending on who is in town or what we are doing. In the past 30 days alone, I've probably made 15 visits with about 5 of them being close to "full days." As far as what we spend in the park, it's usually at least one full meal each full-day visit, a couple of drinks, and maybe some small item. For a shorter visit, I will usually almost always get 1-2 drinks and/or a snack. Honestly, we probably drop anywhere between $30 - $150 per visit. I realize that's a large range, but it really depends on if it's all three of us, just me, how long we stay, etc. I'm guessing I do about 100 visits per year at WDW now.

Quoting this because it's 100% factually correct. No opinions here at all, Just the facts, ma'am. People who want to complain about the price hike, please, I beg you, DON'T GO TO THE PARKS! The last thing I want standing in line next to me at any Disney park is someone who is going to be bitchy and complain about stuff. And we all have had that person behind them in line. IMO, if the parks can weed out some of these people, that's s WIN for the park and a WIN for the guests. I'm all for the higher prices just to get rid of some of these people. EDIT: Quoting this too because it's spot on... 100% agree! It would seem to me the basis of the complaints are due to not being able to afford the *most expensive* pass, but perhaps the lesson here is to make better or different life choices so you can afford stuff you want? I moved out of the state to get away from people like you.

We did Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party again last night. I really love this event! Seriously, it is my personal favorite "Orlando Halloween Event!" As much as I do like and appreciate the "haunts" going around with family & friends riding a bunch of our favorite rides with no lines dressed up in costume and getting stupidly ridiculous amounts of candy and watching some of the best family-friendly theme park shows that exist is just my kind of fun! Here's some photos from last night... Tonight we are at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party again! Follow along! First stop... Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! It's fun riding coasters in costume! Here we all are for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! I'm celebrating #NationalTacoDay at Pecos Bill during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! One of the many reasons we love Mickey's #NotSoScary Halloween Party! 5 minute wait!!! And the best part of Mickey's #NotSoScary? Free candy!!! And LOTS of it! Yum!!! And yes adults along with kids are allowed if not encouraged to dress up! Check it out: We saw some really awesome costumes! So much fun riding Big Thunder while in costumes! Absolutely LOVE the way they dress up Haunted Mansion for Mickey's #NotSoScary Halloween Party! We brought Anna a bag of chocolate. She was pretty happy with that! Space Mountain said 10 min but it was a walk-on! Yesss! The candy staff have been AWESOME tonight!!! Soooo much candy! [twitter] [/twitter] Suck it, California! Love the new Walt Disney World Annual Pass perks! Already using our unlimited PhotoPass! Headless Horseman running through the park still one of the coolest things at Walt Disney World you'll see all year! Boo To You >>> Paint The Night! Not as high tech, but waaaaay more fun!!! Better music too, OMG so much better music! Haunted Mansion Gravediggers still best part of any parade! Love them!!! Silly Sideshow wins the night for best candy crew at Mickey's #NotSoScary Halloween Party! Yay! We hung out with Rapunzel tonight! Anna & Elsa were very impressed with the amount of chocolate we collected tonight! Another amazing Mickey's #NotSoScary Halloween Party! Best Halloween event ever!!! Oh, and here is the volume of candy we collected! "Objective complete... Achievement unlocked!"

Even though we have discussion threads for all the WDW parks, I'm just going to put this in here... This morning WDW announced New Annual Pass prices that INCLUDE unlimited "PhotoPass Downloads" on many of the options. IMO, this is a GREAT benefit and with most photos being $15 - $20 each a huge value added to the pass. Of course, many Disney "fans" are freaking out over the new prices which I just don't understand. They have added a new "Gold" tier for Florida Residents, and while it does include some blockout dates, it's a GREAT deal considering the blockout dates are some of the worst days at the parks anyway and you still get free parking and PhotoPass. It's only $20 more than the old "Annual Pass" and while, yes, you lose some dates, you gain PhotoPass! I think that's awesome.

I don't think it's fair to bash another groups event. We have been successful because we focus on what we do and not worry about what other groups are doing. And personally, I don't look at three groups coming together and selling 50 tickets to be "competition" for WCB. No one is trying to prove anything. That's not what it's all about. Instead of bashing other events, show your support and come to WCB again next year!
