  1. Dude, you need to seriously chill out. He was obviously referring to the entire Los Angeles County. Besides, hardly anyone from the SCV even goes to SFMM. I would partially agree with his statement regarding SFMM's location, but it's the clientele the park attracts by building world-record breaking coasters and nothing else.. You see the same thing if you go to CP and SFGAdv. Medical Marijuana is legal in CA but you can't do it in public. Having worked many a Grad Nite at Disneyland, I can say that marijuana use from LA County kids in theme parks is a very common practice.
  2. That single rider policy has got to be the worst thing I've ever heard. Why do they CARE if groups are together and do not mind being split up to ride single? Not even Cedar Point does that with Maverick.
  3. Most unions at DL have also gotten rid of CR-25 (not 35) too. And it's the CTs (Casual-Temporary) who are seasonal, not CRs (Casual Regular, part-time). Also, what I find funny is that the ride operators at Universal Studios Hollywood are a union but they still make minimum wage. What's the point? Some of the SFMM maintenance departments, I'm not sure exactly which ones, are unionized. I don't know how things have changed but when I worked at SFMM 6 years ago, you could easily work 60 hours a week if you really wanted to.
  4. I've finally listed all of the coasters I've ridden in order. #25 was: SPEED: The Ride #50 was:Mullholland Madness #100 was: Howler (HW) #150 was: Phoenix and, my last new coaster, #187: Loch Ness Monster
  5. Actually, thats Pirates on a BAD day. They consistently get 2,900-3,100 an hour. I also agree with going to DL on Saturday and SFMM on Monday. For some reason, DL is VERY BUSY on Mondays!
  6. If it's raining just a tiny bit before park opening, they usually don't open for the entire day.
  7. I love Holiday World! This just goes to show that they are THE BEST THEME PARK IN THE WORLD!
  8. Last summer a friend and I were able to visit SFNE and LC in one afternoon. It all depends on how much time you want at each park but don't think you need a full day at LC. I would suggest a minimum of 5 hours there. We went on a Thursday afternoon in mid-July and both parks were pretty slow which allowed for walk-ons at S:RoS and a 5 minute wait (like 3-4 trains) for Boulder Dash. I recommend driving all the way to SFNE first and spending an entire day there first so you can get your fill of S:RoS re-rides. On day 2, go to LC for a few hours, stop at Quassy since it's DIRECTLY on the way to Playland and then stop by Playland before driving home. Playland can be done in less than 2 hours.
  9. ^Instead of flying out here for just one day, why not make it a week-long trip in SoCal? You could visit SFMM, KBF, USH, DLR, and a lot of other little parks around the area. All of them are open year round.
  10. ^Unless you're referring to the theming, how is the ride "not close to being finished?" All that's left is the lift, station, and station fly-by...
  11. Does anyone else agree that the old Sierra Twist location would be a good spot for a drop ride?
  12. I don't have a picture but its located near the corner of the store nearest X2/FlashPass distribution. We found it after we saw another team move the recycle bin away from it.
  13. ^^Don't get your hopes up... hourly supervisors at SFMM are hardly in-the-know when it comes to future ride additions.
  14. That actually happens a lot on Gold Rusher. When I worked at the park from 2001-2003, supervisors would have leads send the operators they didn't like to Rusher because if a lapbar comes back to the station popped open, the lapbar attendants would be fired because management would automatically assume it was dispatched that way. I'm not joking. Wow that's terrible. I don't know what to say about that. I know... good thing that management is GONE.

  16. ^I have that phone too; I can't stand it either... I hate the keyboard. Back on topic, I'm very excited for Terminator. The airtime pop coming out of the deadman turn looks wicked.
  17. When I went, and it sounds like that's when X2coasterfreak was there too, was between 7:45-8:30 PM. We entered the line where it splits into the front 2 rows and back 2 rows and were in line for 45 minutes.
  18. ^^My group experienced the same exact problem at Superman. They were dispatching every 5-6 minutes (NO JOKE! I TIMED IT!) Once we finally got ON the ride, we noticed that the crew was messing around with Security employees instead of doing their jobs. They were VERY rude to Guests whose lapbars weren't coming down far enough to allow the sensor light to illuminate and then didn't let them ride. Those who couldn't ride understood that the lapbar has to come down to a certain point but the operators were singling them out and were not sensitive about it at all. We also took note that they would dispatch a car, unload the Guests, and then not open the load doors for another 2 minutes so they could mess around. Jay and crew heard about the incident and he said it would be taken care of right after we spoke to him. Other than that, I had a great time!! Most, if not all, the coasters were smoother than they have been in YEARS. I didn't experience any headbanging on Revolution or Viper! Batman was running like it was brand new! X2 was smoother than last year when it opened! Scream! was pretty good. The only coasters I did not ride were Riddler, Colossus, Canyon Blaster, and Superman (our group decided not to ride after dealing with those crappy ride operators.) Thank you Robb, Chris, Jay, Neal, Tim, and the rest of SFMM's operations management! Oh yeah, Scavenger Hunt group #24 FTW!
  19. As long as X2 is warmed up well it can operate in the rain. Wind, on the other hand, could be the biggest issue for it. The B&M coasters' drive tires might slip in the rain so those coasters may go down. Ninja cannot operate under something like 65 degrees either.
  20. When I worked at Disneyland, I saw... Kobe Bryant (A mob was gathering at the exit waiting for him to get off of Pirates and I walked him backstage behind the bayou so he could escape!) Kirsten Dunst (Saw her enter the Haunted Mansion foyer when I was at that position) Johnny Depp (Operated Pirates during his ride through with Make-A-Wish kids right before the Dead Man's Chest Premiere) Hugh Hefner w/ 3 Playboy bunnies (I was in the expanding room at the Haunted Mansion with them! Seth Green (unloaded him at Pirates) Brad Garret (loaded him onto Pirates) Mickey Rooney (loaded him onto Pirates) Nicholas Cage Chris "Jesus" Ferguson There are many others that I am forgetting. One sees many celebrities while working at Disneyland. Oh, and this one time in 2002 I was operating Flashback at SFMM and Robb and Elissa rode.
  21. I feel the the $10 upcharge on X2 is needed, especially with how relatively inexpensive the FlashPasses are at SFMM. When you compare SFGAdv and SFMM in terms of capacity, the only thing X2 can be compared to is Kingda Ka with regards to popularity and type of queue. Both coasters have split stations. FlashPass users only utilize the right side of the station at KK (right?) but still have to wait a long time once they are inside the station because it's basically a one train operation once you are waiting there. The line before the station split at KK moves in a fair pace because there are 4 stations for them to use. Now I could see SFMM having FlashPass users only use 1 side of the station but they would be making their regular queue guests wait longer because only 2 stations are there. KK's capacity is also about 300-400 persons HIGHER an hour than X2's. It all comes down to numbers. When Kingda Ka is running at full capacity, it can pull 1200-1300 riders per hour; theoretical is 1400. When X2 is running with 2 trains, it pulls maybe 900-1000. If SFMM could learn how to operate X2 with 3 trains, I could see them potentially eliminating the $10 upcharge because the wait would be severely reduced. 1400-1600 an hour, which is what it would do with 3 trains, is almost as good as many Disney attractions.
  22. ^Unfortunately their PR director was laid off.
  23. Oh yeah! Guess it's not so special after all...
  24. California's Great America: Runaway Reptar (just never went on it, but I'll get it the next time I visit) Taxi Jam (if I recall, you need a child to ride?) Castle Park: All of them. I went mini-golfing there with some friends and they didn't want to ride anything. I'll get back there eventually... Scandia: Both credits. I always drive by it when I go to Vegas but never stop. I will make it there one of these days. Perhaps I should do a mini day trip over to Castle Park and Scandia... SeaWorld San Diego: Journey To Atlantis (too long of a line, 90+ mins) SFDK: Boomerang Coast to Coaster (don't care for Boomerang clones...) Lake Compounce: Zoomerang (again, I don't care for Boomerang clones...) Kiddie Coaster (too tall to ride) SFA: Great Chase (forgot about it) Two Face (SBNO) SFNE: Great Chase (forgot about it) Cyclone (closed the day we went, they were doing some trackwork) Flashback (another Boomerang clone...) SFGAdv: Rolling Thunder left side (only right side was open that day) Astroland: Coney Island Cyclone (didn't want to pay $8 for it) Rye Playland Park: Family Flyer Kiddie Coaster Cedar Point: Jr. Gemini (Missed twice! I didn't have a kid to take with me back in 2003, and then they changed the policy when I went in 2007.) Geauga Lake (SFWoA when I visited in 2003): Beaver Land Mine Ride/Roadrunner Express (forgot about it) Double Loop (not enough time) Head Spin/Mind Eraser (boomerang...) Raging Wolf Bobs (closed) Thunderhawk (it's an SLC... need I say more?) Kings Island: Firehawk (one-train operation + two hour wait at park opening + I went on X-Flight at SFWoA/GL) Little Bill's Giggle Coaster/Top Cat's Taxi Jam Dorney Park: Little Laser Hersheypark: Sidewinder (boomerang...) Knoebels: Flying Turns (self-explanatory) Kings Dominion: Taxi Jam BUT! I have one credit that almost nobody else has: Goliath Jr/Percy's Railway!
