I think it opens the weekend of the 12th.. I'm going to try to get out there either Saturday or Sunday for at least a little while. Should be fun. Anyone else going? -

Yea, Dueling Dragons really kick butt. I'm heading to FL in Dec and will make a day to ride them, then a day for Busch Gardens for Montu. I swear Dueling Dragons never get boring. -

It's strange because Valleyfair specifically says the structure is three 250ft tall towers. It doesn't say that's how far you fall. Every other site says it's 275 feet though. So who knows. -

I stand corrected.. I don't know how VF is doing this math, but they say that Power tower is 250 feet high, and that it is actually 75 feet higher than Wild thing. (which lists at 207 feet tall) (According to VF own website) So maybe 250 feet is the height limit at the park, as it's mentioned on the VF web site that the power tower would have been higher if not for the FAA limit.. See bottom of this link for FAA statement. http://www.valleyfair.com/public/attractions/rides/thrill_rides/power_tower.cfm I've been on both of these rides too many times to count, and I can't say I really believe that power tower is that much taller than Wild Thing's first hill... They look to be pretty equal height when you're at the top of either. Anyone have any real insight into this fuzzy math that VF is using? -

I think they're limited to around 200-220 feet in height, so we'll never see a really tall coaster there. But you can do a lot with a good floorless or inverted coaster in under 110.. I just don't think we'll see anything like that for a while after this investment in Renegade. They could always just get rid of excalibur.. It really only ever runs 1 train, and never gets that many riders... Excalibur does have some good force to it, but it REALLY beats the hell out of you too, keeping me (and apparently everyone else) from riding it very much.. nearly anything would be an improvement over that. -

I think they could squeeze a coaster between the galaxy theater and the ampitheater if they did it right. Or maybe get rid of the mini golf? -

I agree Pinkslip.. I don't think they'll put another coaster in VF in 08... It's just too much capital to lay out, and I don't think CF is ready to put out that kind of money at a park like VF. Though I'll keep my virtual fingers crossed that they do bring in a coaster like that. -

Whether I consider Steel Venom a coaster or not has nothing to do with how I feel Renegade will or won't be.. Who knows, it might be fun.. but I would still rather have an LONG inverted or floorless model. -

Well, some are long enough in my book to be considered coasters, at least 200m.. but some aren't.. You are entitled to your opinions on what you think is a coaster as well. I will just not count Steel Venom as a coaster. You can take a "credit' for it if you like and need a credit that bad. -

Ok, Technically some might call Steel Venom a coaster.. but I don't. I don't think it's a coaster unless it actually goes out and back.. else it's just another ride. -

Please, Please, Please don't call Steel Venom a coaster. VF did that on the cheap.. It's not as tall in other places, and it doesn't twist on both sides like other places even.. It did draw a lot of people to the park the year it opened though. I only ride it if the line is minimal. I still think the GP likes steel more than wood. And nothing's saying they couldn't have spent more than 6.5mil. -

Well, it's one of their few parks without an inverted or floorless now, isn't it? -

Sticky, don't talk like that.. you're making me wet!! Hopefully something inverted/floorless!!!!!! Probably a Patriot (Worlds of Fun) clone.. seems to be what is being put in other parks. I'm there! -

Well, any new ride, no matter what it is, seems to attract guests for a while.. But after a while, the place just isn't as exciting unless they keep adding new things.. Sure, Renegade might be fun for a ride or two, and people will come to try it out, (Though I think MORE would have come for a B&M type product), that won't keep them coming for long. I am doubting Renegade would be rated higher than a 6 or 7 out of 10 by those going on it.. But I guess only time will tell. -

Since we'll be in Sandusky a few nights, does that mean we'll be doing Cedar Point for multiple days? Or more one full day with some ERT the next day? Doesn't seem like our clothes will have enough time to dry trying to wash them at night in the hotel, except for Sandusky. What's that fabric spray to remove the smell??!?? Will our valuables be safe on the bus while we are in a park? Will we have access to the bus while at the park? (Say we bring a cooler for beverages we want to get access to.) -

Ahh, yea, B&M, not Beams as in wood.. Gotcha.. Yes, that's what I'm saying.. I would have been happy with nearly ANY of their rides rather than another wooden coaster.. Floorless, inverted, whatever.. Valleyfair just isn't known for putting the best out there.. I think CF tries to save that stuff for Cedar Point. I know we'll never see anything at VF higher than 200 feet (limited to their max height do to the airport nearby), so a shorter, inverted would work great. New water slides would have been good too.. They haven't done much to update that part of the park in years. -

Speaking of hotels, how many different hotels will we be in on the Midwest trip? Will it be a different hotel every night? -
