  1. I've been juggling for close to eight years now, I'd say that I'm at least decent. I don't know many, if any, really advanced tricks, I've just mastered some really basic ones, such as throwing behind your back, or some variations of Columns (throwing one up, then two at once, with one on either side of the single ball, as the ball is at its apex, creating a neat 2-1-2-1 throwing pattern). What I'm really into these days, just like you, is the diabolo. I've gotten about three years of experience with it, though I've been slacking for the last year, and I feel I'm in the same situation as juggling. I know pretty much everything you do, and not terribly much else, I'm working on learning some new stuff with it. And, if it counts, I've been unicycling for about five years off-and-on, hence my username. ALSO: For diabolo tricks, http://www.diabolotricks.com/ is really good, it has little flash animations of every trick, and provides a really good explanation for each and every one.
  2. Maybe a general juggling thread would be more appropriate, diabolo-ing is just a single division of that general hobby.
  3. I think I'm gonna restart Fallout 3, and try to play the entire game without using weapons, only unarmed skills... This is gonna be a challenge. But it'll all be made up for when I punch out a Behemoth.
  4. I've got a yellow Higgins Brothers one, I've had it for something like three or four years now. It's gotten pretty scratched up from throwing it like 30 feet in the air and having it land on cement, which is expected, but it still works like a charm. I think I'm gonna go online and look for some new tricks to learn.
  5. By diabolo, do you mean the juggling equipment that's like a yoyo on a string connected to two sticks that you hold? If so, those really aren't that difficult to learn, just work on it for a day or two. Online lessons also help. Speaking of, I think I'm gonna pull mine out, I haven't tried it in years...
  6. Later... with Jools Holland might just be becoming my favorite music show on television. I mean, any show that has Al Green, The Killers and Pendulum playing in the same room within one hour is a winner in my book.
  7. Well, looks like I'm bumping this thread. Again. I picked up Battleheart a couple of weeks ago, the new RTS/RPG hybrid from the makers of Zombieville USA. It's actually a really fun, challenging game, each battle has tons of room for experimentation with strategies, and the different classes can vastly change how you play. It's $2.99, I caught it on sale for a buck, but I'd say it's still worth it at full price.
  8. I was talking to my friend about the film Twelve Angry Men (fantastic film, by the way) today at school, since he's watching it in English. He asks me, jokingly, "Man, this entire movie takes place in one room, it's like they could have done it all with no budget at all. What do you think they spent it on?" We spent the following minutes fantasizing what it would be like if Michael Bay or James Cameron were directing only the last five minutes of the movie, and were told to use the ENTIRE BUDGET to make whatever they wanted. Hilarity ensued.
  9. Amen to that. Even the most horrible games can be a blast with a few friends on the couch, especially if nobody's taking it seriously. Like if you get on MW2, an otherwise abysmal multiplayer game, and make up your own little games to play. It's just so much more fun than raging when playing with anons online.
  10. Listen from about 4:50 to the end for what is quite possibly my favorite dual guitar piece in history.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvUyPUfmwNU Holy crap. I guess that album isn't complete crap after all.
  12. Acoustics is probably the branch of physics I'm worst at, but here is what I would do. 1. Use the definition of sound intensity level: Intensity level=(10 dB) log [intensity/10^-12 W/m^2] to find the intensity of each sound wave. 2. Use the inverse-square law for intensity: [intensity 1/Intensity 2]=[((distance 1)^2)/((distance 2)^2)] to find the two distances. You will also need to use this simple algebraic fact: distance 1+distance 2=110 m. I'm not 100% sure if this will work, but it makes sense and is the only way I can think of doing it. Also, you might want to look up these equations in your book as they are a bit difficult to read on here without an equation writing program. ...I am now afraid to go into Physics next year, in 11th grade. Thank you, my good man, for scaring the living hell out of me.
  13. I understand that I'm a few months late, but this evening, I watched Inception for the first time. All I have to say, is WOW. It had absolutely everything I love in a movie: ambiguity, amazing visuals, a fast-paced story, and a metric crapload of general mindf**kery. I loved it. I think I might have a new entry for my top five movies of all time.
  14. I understand exactly what you're saying, and I absolutely respect that stance, but that's not exactly the kind of piracy I'm talking about. I mean downloading licensed media that you did not pay for, then treating it as if you bought it. If you DID buy the rights to a song from Amazon, backing it up or creating another copy for yourself is totally fine. But is the same true if you plan on distributing those copies to other individuals, without purchasing it multiple times? Also: I know I'm really crazy late to the party with this, but I just downloaded the updated version of iTunes, the BIG update where it added Ping and the new icon. To put it bluntly, I hate it so far. The font is uglier, the icon is hideous, and it just seems... too different, I dunno.
  15. Speaking of Dragon Age, the leaking of the sequel onto the internet sparked a debate on a gaming forum I'm a member of, that I just think is completely pointless. The question is whether or not piracy is "bad". People who say it's not bad are under the assumption that the people who pirate the game will tell friends about it, and they will go out and buy it for themselves. Or that there are people that pirate games just to try them out/see if they'll run on their computer, then if they enjoy it, they'll buy it. Um, no. People pirate games because they don't want to pay for them. If people can get something that usually costs money for free, even if it's completely illegal (like piracy is), there will be idiots that do it without remorse. These people are thieves, there is no question about it. They are in possession of a game that they did not pay for, a copy that goes against the copyright the game makers put on their product. The second you click that "download" button, you are breaking the law. There is no middle ground.
  16. I would say the show Disturbed is doing on the 13th at Arco Are--oh, wait, sorry, "PowerBalance Pavilion". God, I hate that name. But my parents would never let me go to a metal show like that, they don't even know I listen to music that's that heavy. Ah well, I'll just wait for my friend's punk band, The Carbonites, to play during Spring Break somewhere.
  17. Just sayin', instead of posting it here expecting us to help you, is there a way for you to look for online lessons? I mean, I'd be willing to help you if I weren't only in trigonometry, but I don't think the moderators would agree with me.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLrN7CKpyjg It's so different from the rest of the album, but that doesn't keep it from being one of their best songs.
  19. Because I'm learning it on bass. And man, is it challenging, but it's a really freaking fun song. And yes, those are the same guys that did the music video on the treadmills.
  20. There wouldn't happen to be any Dungeons & Dragons players on this site, would there? Because I'm really interested in starting the game. I'm considering buying the 4E Red Box, just as a way to start out solo, then joining some friends and learning to play 3.5E.
  21. Amen to this. They're easily one of my favorite bands of all time. Speaking of, I'm listening to "Beast and the Harlot" by them. It's quite possibly my favorite metal song of all time.
  22. I hate that Yahoo Answers doesn't give any way to contact users, except for Yahoo mail. For example, I recently answered a question where the person was wondering about why M-rated games were restricted to buyers 17 and over. One of the other people answering said: "See not all kids are like that. There was a kid who reenacted some GTA stunts shot some people stole a car and what not. Then lets not forget a few years ago a 5 year old drove a car to school because he thought he could because of a video game...oh yea the kid crashed into a tree and luckily did not hit anyone" I read this and immediately thought "BULL****." So I decided to send a message to him, asking for a source for those incidents, to see if he really is bluffing or not. But lo and behold, there was NO way to contact him from his profile. He didn't have his email set up, I couldn't send a private message, nothing. That sort of thing REALLY bugs me.
  23. Speed was a very cool movie. And the way the madman "lost his mind" was hilarious. Also, I feel so dangerous right now, I just downloaded my first (very legal) item from a torrent site. It's a copy of the game Tribes 2, which was released for free by its developers to promote the sequel.
  24. Waitwaitwait. According to Wikipedia, the safety directions on California Screamin' are now done by Neil Patrick Harris?? If this is true, Disney, you just gained fifty extra points in my book.
