The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
terrancew_hod replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
LOL @ Big Mike! Can you imaging me singing in back: Get a little closer, Don't be shy... These old jingles just stick in my head! Although I didn't have the tape with the jingle to the Pro-line "Just for me" Relaxer commercial... with a remix. My best friend has that! Terry "Just for meeeeee" Weaver -
As a bonus, I have two videos for you. Let me know if you need them zipped up! Anyway, that's all for this update! Next I join the TPR gang for "Jardin" and hopefully some real statue credits! Colorado Mess.wmv Remember I said I would show you why we wasted 20 Euros on the Colorado Train? Take a look! Wild Train.wmv I think this is the first posted video of Wild Train! Knowing you guys, I'm probably wrong!

Well I've been doing my usual crap that's kept me from updating the TPR... oh well. Let's do a big update this time! Story so far: After a decent night on the town, I headed back to the hotel for sleep. Getting up early I head to the Louvre.... Tada!!!! After getting lost a few more times, we make it back to the hotel. See Robb back a car up! We paid 20 Euros to get on this! I'll show you why later! Too much sand! The train went this direction... and the line to get on it was loooong! There's lots of sand here... it's like a desert without the oasis! Next, Mer de Sable. Or should I say Merde de Sable? How about "How I wasted 20 Euros"? I still owe Robb for telling me that this was fun... the damn thing spins! You can tell how much I liked this one as it spun out of control and I hung on for dear life! I almost threw up! Cool looking cars! Our next credit. This ride was crazy, especially the little air hill and how we felt the coaster was going to dump us! This is the layout, the drop was pretty steep! Wild Train. You make my heart sang! Not really but it was pretty fun. I don't recognize any of these people. Do you? Anyway, we had to tell the gang about how many times we got lost and poor Beatle... nevermind Bet you've seen this one before! Ok. Now HERE'S the first official statue credit of the trip! Looking in, I thought it was a ghetto carnival. But I was pleasantly surprised. Enough Disney. Let's go to the next day! Parc Saint Paul! With a pocket full of fresh Euros, I was ready to really enjoy my vacation! I managed to get most of my credits out of the way by noon with care use of the fast passes. Some of the ride ops weren't happy with me showing up 2 hours late, but I threw a look of death and they cleaned that attitude up! Worry about the people trying to come in early please! Anyway, I spent most of my day hanging out with a fashion model and her boyfriend after they witnessed my look of death and fell out laughing! This was our last ride... they lied about the time. It was only 15 minutes to wait; but the ride opened at 4pm! You can figure they wanted to keep the line low! I don't have to tell you what this is... Let's skip quickly to the next day.... Disney! Well I didn't get a lot of pics since I was concentrating on getting as much of the coasters done as possible. From the buses, you can more statues than you can from foot, of course. Leaving the tower, I caught the bus tour for the second day. Here you get a better view of Napoleons tomb. Counting my euros, this is how much of the tower tour I could afford. Thank goodness I get my paycheck deposited tomorrow! After the tomb and the other museums in the same building it was off to the base of the Eiffel tower. As you can see, you'd best behave yourself here. Here it is... Next, Napoleon's tomb. I took the obligatory pics of Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, etc. But you can see this is the "touristy" part of the museum, so I took a few pics and moved on. I think this would look good in my room. Anyone got a moving truck... and a boat? I hit the palace part of the museum; I think this belonged to one of the King Louis. Wasn't paying too much attention. Want more? Here's your statue fix... I toured the Egyptian exhibit first, this is the less "touristy" part of the museum so I covered a lot of ground with minimal heads in the way. Catching the metro, I find the Louvre... or at least the entrance where my museum pass will work. I snap a picture from the top of the hill outside the church. Unfortunately, they don't allow cameras in, so no pics... but you probably didn't want to see them anyway. Here's the view from this point... (pant) I'm half way there! Ain't I pretty? My morning destination. I have some stairs to climb! I know the last update didn't have any rides, so here's one! Before catching the metro, I backtracked to Sacre Coeur, which was just up the street from my hotel. This is about how close to it before getting assaulted by beggars!

The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update

^^^"Creeptacular" is a most appropriate word. Would I be out of place if I told nojarama: "GIRL!!!! Use your inside voice... and leave these youngin's alone!" That is all. Back on subject Looks like that trip is going to be a blast! I wish I had more vacation days (and a lot more money!) to go! I have to settle for throwing these weights around in preparation for trying to look better in my White Party outfit in November! Terry "I see you Kimmy!" Weaver -
My ex lives there and if I decide to go next year he said he will be my tour guide. I just need to save up the money, which shouldn't be that much. Oh and I need to practice my spanish, which shouldn't be that hard with two spanish roommates.
-
^No, that's probably a real good choice of words. I do know most of the Spanish versions of all those appropriate words... it's part of my "emergency Spanish"! I need to try to head down to South America; Argentina's currency is weaker than ours, so I can act like a 'Sugar Papi' even if I'm not. The boys can party in Madrid, but my funds won't go nearly as far. Terry
-
so: That would explain why I have problems being attracted to people. My sinuses are severely messed up! The only scents I picked up last week was somebody smelled like they pooped on themselves (honest!), B.O., and somebody smoking a joint on the dance floor! Do you think my date would get apprehensive if I stuck my nose up his pit tonight and gave it a sniff? "I'm just checkin' to see if we're compatible..." Terry "I'd probably do it too" Weaver
-
My roommate calls them that whenever he has dairy products, but I'm not amused or attracted. Terry "More like fear-mones" Weaver

I really need to hang out on South Beach and Miami more! I'm always in Lauderdale getting "bothered", I got the "attention" I'm supposed to be getting when I put in the work at the gym! Terry -
^Stop looking and then they'll show up! I have somewhat of a date tomorrow, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Neither one of us is looking for anything heavy; he has some issues and I'm too busy getting things done to deal with anyone else's issues. If nothing else, I get to eat dinner out and catch Batman without listening to a couple bicker. Speaking of which, if you and your significant other argue about vacation plans and he tells you "you think this whole vacation is catered for you", don't reply "It is about me." I just walked in from the gym and heard that... I had to grab my protein shake and run upstairs and lock the door before the atom bomb went off downstairs. I couldn't believe my roommate's boyfriend said that; especially when my roommate is footing most of the bill. C'est la vie, I guess. Terry

When I was his age, I had to use a typewriter to type my papers... and the thing didn't have corrective tape (or electric--ouch my fingers), so I had a bottle of "wite-out'! Teachers didn't accept papers unless they were typed (or later on a letter-quality laser printer). It's so easy to communicate these days, so let's not be so lazy about it! Text and IM however you want to your friends in private; but when it's public communications, you need to act like you're typing that paper to your teacher because you are getting graded. (But then I've heard stories of students turning in papers like they typed them on a Sidekick. And they wondered why they got that 'F'!) Sorry to hijack the thread. Congrats, but this needs as much attention (if not more) than the boat. Terry EDIT: Brent, show your peers how to do it! You're posts are always on point!
-
^You did it again. Is it me, or are we losing the grammar battle to the texting and IM generation? Before you hit that submit button: 1. If I'm speaking about myself am I using a capital "I"? No lowercase. 2. Make sure you're not using run-on sentences. The thoughts shouldn't be running together without periods. Hint: Don't be in a hurry to post; slow down and take your time when typing. That way, you can catch most of the mistakes. You don't have to be perfect but I shouldn't be the third person to say something to you... people do get banned here for not getting those posts together. 3. Go back and read what you typed before you commit the changes. Honestly it's not that hard; and if it is, you probably need to lay off posting and crack open the English book and brush up. I'm not trying to be mean, but really. You're 13 and this should be fresh in your mind. I'd hate to see what business communications are going to look like in 10 years based on some of these posts from the younger generation. I think it's really going to be jacked. Terry

I've been a bit busy with things here, so I'm going to give you a day of Paris before moving into the parks. Story so far: I made it to Paris! I got off the Eurostar and made my way to the hotel. With a Metro map in hand I find my way to my hotel. I get mixed up in the direction and I walk around the block a few time and realize that the hotel was just across the street from the station! Oops! I check in and unpack a few things for the next day; then I turn in because I'm absolutely exhausted! After a little wine and cheese at Frenchie's (and checking my email) I was back at the Arc looking for the Quickie Burger I saw from the bus. Ordering in French, I got my meal ate it and headed back to the hotel to change to go to the bars for a while. That's it for this relatively boring update. I'll breeze by the other two days (include the 5 pics I took at Disney) to get caught up to the TPR trip. Later! Meet Frenchie. See Frenchie on his BMW Scooter. See Frenchie try to argue with me as he was 10 minutes late that he gave me the apartment number to ring. See me pull out the email that had no such thing on it. See Frenchie shut up. The end. I make it across from the Eiffel tower with 45 minutes to spare before meeting my friend. Time for a photo op! I think someone invested a few coins on this... This was the closest I could get to this landmark. But I did get a few close up shots without getting hit by cars! I found the bus stop for my Tour and I got on. From there I was able to rest my feet and snap more pics. There was another museum under Notre Dame that had the old foundation of Paris. The pass worked there so I went inside. I walked down the street a bit to look around and to get another photo op. Next I took the Metro to Notre Dame. My museum pass allowed me to go inside and snap a few pics and a video since I couldn't work the camera too well. I won't bore you with those pics though. Hungry, I looked at the museum snack bar for food. Still on a budget, it was waaay too high. Time to use the broken French to order a sandwich on the street. Success! Mmmmm! My hotel was around the corner of this famous landmark. Can you guess which one? The Eiffel Tower was that way; I figured I would end my day around there, since my friend lived in that direction. I found an outside area in the museum that gave a pretty good view. Yep, this is art. I think it would go in a pool real good. The inflatables had the pump running and everything! Of course, i didn't feel I had enough time to go to the Louvre, so I figure I would do a smaller museum then the bus tour I paid for. I made my way to the Museum of Modern Art. I already had my Metro pass, but I needed to track down my museum pass. If you use expedia, don't order your metro pass from them! Find a company online to send it to you; then you can at least get around without paying when you arrive! Anyway, the store with my pass was across from the Tulleries; so I decided to walk there and figure out which museum to visit. Let take one in the next direction! With that done, let's grab a little breakfast (which is free) downstairs and begin sightseeing! I wake up and walk out on the small balcony in my room and snap a pic of the street.

The Official "TPR Europe Trip 2008" Thread!

^^Hopefully they give you advanced warning... I can see them trying to open that on my mom... they wouldn't have that animatronic long! My mom HATES any type of rodent. One time, my brother's pet gerbil got loose in the house and we found it in my room late that night. Mom comes running in mad because we woke her up with the noise trying to catch it; the thing ran between her legs and mom went airborne! Then she proceed to grab any large object and started throwing it at the gerbil! Mom: "A rat! Kill it! KILL IT!!!" Brother: "No mom! It's my my gerbil!" Terry -
I was having a real productive day until my roommate pulls up and tells me that a mutual friend died and her wake was in an half hour. So I ran back in the house, changed and went. You know, sometimes as you get older you end up catching up with people you haven't spoke to for a long time at funerals. That's a sad thing. It's also a sad thing when a parent has to bury their kids. They had a wonderful memorial with all the things she used to do: a pool cue, a remote, and a Corona. She and her life partner was together for over 35 years and the family treated the life partner like a member of the family. That was really sweet.

You forgot they are some of the worst drivers! I hate to see the accidents as they try to navigate that new express lane on I-95! The first day they opened the lane there were multiple accidents and people had undercarriage damage slamming through the poles dividing the lanes! The city is still trying to correct the setup to reduce the confusion! Terry -

^Well they were working my nerves in most places... and that was with me speaking French. And I also had a high percentage of people using me as a prop or punching bag when I'm just minding my own business. I shouldn't have total strangers putting their chin on my shoulders or their kids slapping me in my back and expect not to get punched. It was unreal. The only place they weren't rude was the bars... rudeness never works when you're trying to hit on someone! Terry -

^And you didn't have the pleasure of spending time with one... especially after finding out he stopped taking his meds. The 'clicking out' wasn't pretty. Later, I was at the airport 3 hours early, drinking and watching the planes taking off. That was a better use of my time. And I told him so... and to seek professional help. Terry -

Get a room? Looks like they got all the room they need! You're lucky you don't see them taking advantage of the bench! It's worse when you see 16 year olds at it in line at Disney! Terry -
My last job had 5 days the first year then 10 the next. Really crappy. They had 5 days off during Christmas when the office closed, but it was unpaid. My new job gave me 3 weeks and I got an extra 1 week (unpaid) for the Europe trip. I think next year or the year after I get 4 weeks. I'm going to try to get a few day before new years off to go to LA if possible. It's a large enough company that I'm able to do it. Terry

After years of procrastination and prodding from my roommate, I'm planning to visit Argentina next year to visit my ex... or the "had he lived in the US, we would be off to L.A. for a marriage license." I guess after going to Europe and being on my own, it's not as scary as I thought it would be. Actually I got a firm reading from my roommate. "You get your a$$ down there! You were crazy about each other!" Etc. Etc. Anyway, we've kept in touch over the years. I got a kick over his aerobic class videos on youtube, especially with him teaching cardio strip dance! Also he sees the silly stuff on TPR. I emailed him asking if he's willing to be a tour guide, I'll come and visit. He emailed me right back and said anytime I want to visit, he will be available and he would love to see me. I told my roommate and he said "Told ya!" Now to save this money and pratice mi espanol... Terry
