  1. I want to go next year (wanted to go this year but couldn't) - I thought the parks only opened at weekends in September? The reason I didn't go this year was because it'd have to be in august, when flights are too expensive. So I want to go next may instead - the flights will be a lot cheaper too. So I think early may is the best time then.........
  2. Waiting for my degree results, but they are been held up by postal strikes!
  3. Yeah that looks weird. Looking closer though it's just two circles of dirt on the camera lens. Above that though, slightly to the right, looks like a person (and not very ghost like), leaning on the fence.
  4. I want to go on this trip, but I'm still waiting to confirm a job offer (so I'll be able to afford it), which is going to take another week probably. I just can't spend $3000 without being being 100% ure.
  5. it's maybe some sort of feedback loop system to keep the chain at constant speed, but is not very accurate (as other rides)
  6. This ride was amazing, the only bad thing about it is the slow moving Que. There was a rumour Thorpe was getting a second, 185ft tower (presumably because the ques are so long.)
  7. I decided not to put in a deposit for the midwest. I'd either want to go to them midwest on my own trip, or the TPR Japan trip. Theres still a very good chance that I'll put in a deposit for that. I think it'll be the more fun of the two, even if it's less famous rides/parks. It's a longer (13hr) flight, but i've done it before, so it's not a huge deal (and probably not as long as east coast US people!)
  8. I'm waiting for my student loan before I can put down a despoit ( for the midwest), I know it's leaving it late but i'm confident I can meet the deadline still EDIT: I really want to go to the midwest, but I think overall the Japan trip will be more of an adventure, so at the moment I'm looking at that. Only downside is the 13 hour flight from london........
  9. I'm still on uni holidays, but I have to go to sleep at some ponit. I'll try and make though, if not It'll just have to be the transcript. (it's 00:12 right now)
  10. What time is the chat? I read the times you gave but I can't figure it out. If it's 9pm on the east coast, I think thats 2am in the UK but I'm not sure - anyone know?
  11. It would depend on the flight cost. JFK or ORD is probably cheaper. I have been to CVG once but only to get a connection to Florida.
  12. I really want to go on both the midwest and Japan trips, but I need lots of money for that!!! If I decide to go on both trips or not makes a huge difference, becasue if I went on the Japan trip I'd have to fly LHR-ORD-NRT-LHR (i.e. around the globe), but if I only went on the midwest it'd be just LHR-ORD-LHR. I'm *really* tempted to go on both but I just don't think I can afford two deposits at this stage without huge debt. Finding £4000 ($8000) by february might be difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. Depends if I get a job this year or not. For now though, the deposits are more difficult. I'd be 23 on this trip(s) but because I'd just be finishing Univeristy I don't have a huge amount of money.
  13. Might have little choice though how else do you get around the USA? Flying isn't even cheap there. Flying in Europe and renting cars is surprisingly cheaper. A Ford Focus is about $200 - $300a week, but for that you get full insurance (Zero excess) and unlimited mileage usually, and often there is no extra for under 25's.
  14. That's a big surcharge. Some renters in Europe are 25+, but companies that rent to 21+ don't normally add a surcharge. $200/a week is OK. 2 more questions though - can you take the car into other states, and is there a mileage limit?
  15. me and there was another 28 year old guy. I hope £2400 is enough, because I only have around £2000 to spend. And that includes my own trips (To Bgw/pki). Question for Americans: How is much is a typical weeks car hire in the US? And how old do you need to be? (i'm 23). I'd be flying from LHR, as it's my local airport.
  16. I'm hoping to go on the midwest trip - i'm from London.
  17. I 've been to spain at least 10 times probably in the last 5 years, it can be hot, but it depends where you go. The sun can be really strong and if you burn easily (I do) best to avoid the sun at midday and use SPF25-30. SPF 50 will stop you getting burnt at all. Barcelona you could expect to be around 32-35'C but Madrid *can* be much hotter. When I went it hit 43'C in July. Unless your from Utah or somewhere, thats probably hotter than you are use to. That temperature isn't unusal in certain other areas either but none your going to). PA (which is in Tarragona, an 2 hours south of Barcelona). These places are much cooler being on the coast though.
  18. ^Wouldn't it be a good idea to email everyone a reciept then?
  19. Agreed.........it's more expensive than it should be. Right now I can't find anything even reasonable.
  20. Hopefully more will join? Spain looks better in that more UK people are going but it's not just not good value for me, I go to spain all the time. I was planning a midwest trip anyway.
  21. My wife can do a mean British accent and people tell me I look like Mr. Bean (before I grew my beard) so we'll make you feel at home! Matt I think even with that i might still stand out BTW Anyone here post on TN? curious to know if there are any members here?
  22. i'll put in a desposit for the midwest trip tomorrow. Bit dissapointed there isn't more uk people going though on this trip (i mean people from the UK, not people who went on the TPR Uk trip).
  23. Haven't tried CVG yet, i'll look into it, thanks. LHR-JFK can be as cheap as £270 ($520), but LHR-ORD is typically more like £470 ($900). LHR-YYZ can be cheap too I think, probably $550-ish. I haven't tried from LGW but I don't think it'll be much cheaper than LHR. Other locations are typically £375 ($750) like Dulles, but thats too far away really. Could be an option if I decide to go to BGW first though........
  24. Haven't applied for the spain trip, because I've been to most of those places before, including the cities. But if you haven't been before, your'll have a great time. I'll go to PA sometime next year think anyway. Thinking about the midwest trip. Flights from LHR-ORD are extremley expensive though, I suppose would have to fly LHR-JFK and drive or something. I would want to add at least SFGAV and BGW/PKD to the trip, either before or after. I would want at least 2-3 days at CP too. Might be a lot for people who have been before, but for me this would be a one off trip, so if the ques were long or something, I would want to go on most rides - it's not like I can go back easily. SFKK dosn't interest me that much but it don't put me off the tour.
