  1. A brand-new update has been posted to the Keystone Thrills blog: http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/01/11/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-71-1-10-12/ I did take some 15 minutes of video of this occasion from my cellphone. Once I edit this, I'll upload it to youtube when I get the chance.
  2. Section number two has gone up on the lift hill. This is a photo heavy Skyrush construction update! http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/01/10/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-70-1-9-12/
  3. The track on the lift hill won't have a double spine like the rest of the ride becuase it will just connect right to the triple I-beams. Speaking of the track's spine, if you look at the turnaround it seems to be only a single spine. That's a complete suprise to me.
  4. ^I Think Thom has already posted a link that that update. A new update has been posted to Keystone Thrills showing off the station and lift motor work that has been going on. Nothing has been done to the lift hill itself yet. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-67-1-2-12/ EDIT: A color version of the artist's rendering of Skyrush has been posted to the Project 2012 page:
  5. 6. Yep, but it wasn't photographed as much as the Rhineland one. It was where Great Bear's loading station is today. From hpslappy.com (which doesn't exist anymore).
  7. ^It was removed at the end of 1992 and the most common reason that I have heard over the years was that the town's fire truck wasn't tall enough to evacuate people from 115 feet in the air. I've also heard of it being hard to get replacement parts (which could be possible since most of the Intamin ones had closed in the 1980s) and the ride being hard to close under windy conditions. Right now I'm believing that the first reason is more likely considering the ride is now at Dream World in Thailand. I don't know but ever since they moved Looper Games under the ride, Skyview seems to feel a little more scenic. I guess it's because you can't see the turnaround from the station anymore. The Rhineland station before. The Rhineland station today. The Sky Ride today in Thailand. Looper Lanes under Skyview.
  8. A Sony Cybershot that's a 9.1 megapixel. I also edited the photos a little as well. I plan on stopping by again tomorrow afternoon before work to see if the next lift support is up.
  9. Right here, Jake. Houston, we have airtime! http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-64-12-22-11/
  10. Here's a new update showing the Stengel Dive finished: http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-63-12-19-11/ I want to thank Walter, Harry, and Matt on the Project 2012 group for helping to get the photos for this update. Photo taken by Matt.
  11. Yes, but if that wasn't overbanked, it would've been an airtime hill. IMO, an overbank is a U-turn that has an angle of 180 degrees (give or take) and a Stengel Dive is a turn with a radius of around 90 degrees. Given the way it looks, I consider it a Stengel Dive.
  12. The ballot generator was a cool and helpful feature, but the only problem I found with it is that the list you drag to only goes down about half the list of coasters (took me a minute to figure out some of my coasters wern't being added). Other than that, it's great! My Favorite Steel El Toro Phoenix Thunderhawk DP Lightning Racer - T Lightning Racer - L Thunderbolt KW Comet HP Kingdom Coaster DW Racer KW Rolling Thunder NJ Jack Rabbit KW Twister Knoebels Wildcat HP Cyclone NY
  13. In a way, the concept art for Fahrenheit and this are similar and are similar to the real trains. The concept art also was released right around this time of the year for it as well. But I do agree that sometimes concept art can be totally the exact opposite of the real thing and doesn't really confirm anything yet. But I do hope though By the way, the Stengel Dive was being installed today:
  14. Here's some more coaster porn. They're starting the stengel dive. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/17/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-62-12-16-11/
  15. On Kennywood's Facebook page about announcing Black Widow: Don't you see the families when you go to a park??? Wow....
  16. I think that's a fabulous idea, but I can see why they didn't handle it like that when they moved the unloading area and exit path to that side of the station. I think has to do with the platform being narrower on that side, since originally you boarded and unloaded on the outer side of the station there was no reason make the inside belt of the station any wider than to accommodate ride attendants safely. There just isn't enough room for stalls and air gates over there without a major overhaul of the station. It would also put the entrance behind the buildings in Founder's Circle in a not-so-visible spot. Yes, but other than people eating at Crustano's Deli and people riding or waiting for people on the Comet, that path back there isn't heavily walked on since it's tucked back in a small corner. If there was a second path, then maybe, but I think it's fine where it is. I am curious to what they are going to do with the queue though since they tore up half of it. I hope that there's a more permanent way of covering the queue (maybe a building that looks like a covered train station platform (something similar to Skyrush's Station)). The rendering calls for some trees to be planted in front of the station, so that's going to be great when they grow in.
  17. New update on the first drop: http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/hersheypark-skyrush-update-61-121411/ Approximately 130 feet tall and climbing... The station is going up as well.
  18. The webcam is up, but the image is from this morning: http://www.hersheypark.com/skyrush_2012/index.php Just got back from the construction site and I'll have a new update posted tonight. So far the lift is very visible from Chocolate Ave. and you can see the top of it through the trees at Tudor Circle. The turn looks sexy.
  19. What did you just post in Leviathan's thread ? What did you like it. You're contradicting yourself and if you did ride I-305, then you really can't say that one coaster is better than the other when you haven't ridden them both (I took a course in symbolic logic, don't test me on that). I'll be heading back over to do another update this afternoon and I can't wait to see what I'll find.
  20. I've been using the crane and Kissing Tower as a refrence point. The cabin goes up 250 feet and so is the crane so i just estimate down the tower 50 feet, which isn't much and at any point around town that you can see 1/4 of the silver part of the tower, you'll be likely to see Skyrush. So far I can see most of the tower coming into Hershey from the west near the Medical Center, coming into Hershey from the east on Rt. 322 and 422, and around town. So far i can see some of the supports from Chocolate Ave next to the park, but are mostly covered from the treeline. So far only the lift hill is going to be visible outside the park and maybe a LITTLE bit of the first airtime hill.
  21. Yes and no. The supports are going to be the same, but the support system that holds the track is going to be very different. For those of you keeping score at home, this is what has been done to the lift hill so far and here are some more pictures that I took of the track: http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/hersheypark-skyrush-update-60-5-121211/ Still 4 more sections that need to be added.
  22. Skyrush is now as tall as Comet (if not taller)! Interesting color choice for the lift hill. Here's a new construction update: http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-60-121211/
  23. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2011/12/11/hersheypark-skyrush-update-59-121011/ New update has been posted. It is going up quite rapidly. The lift is starting to be visible in Founder's Circle.
  24. The lift is going up! I'll have more photos posted soon.
