  1. Here is a nifty find. Hersheypark used to have a train ride called the Miniature Train that ran from the area near present-day Founder's Circle, past the current park entrance, across the bridge and up the hill on the path along Park Blvd (where many of the Skyrush photos were taken). The train was removed in 1972 when the park was remodeled. I personally thought it was scrapped since parts were had to come by, but it turns out that in 2007, work was started on restoring the train and it now has the main engine and one passenger car restored! Here's a link to the page about it: http://hersheyhistory.org/exhibits-collections/trolley/miniature-railway Here are some from Ron Mann from the HP History Group on Facebook: EDIT: By the way, I have another Skyrush video coming soon as well as some close-up shots of the trains from the midway under it's brake-run.
  2. I see I snook into the picture in the background. lol It was a lot of fun working at Lightning Racer lasy year for ERT that it got me to sign up for this year's ECB! Hopefully I can make it back up in time when you guys stop by again!
  3. Time for the photo portion of the update! http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/skyrush-construction-update-112-5-6-and-5-7-12/ This is one of two footers on the hill between Comet and Skyview.
  4. Went over today and recorded a few laps of it testing in the rain. I'll have an update with photos from yesterday and today up momentarily. EDIT: For some reason the youtube video won't embed in the post. Could a Mod please fix this for me? Thanks!
  5. That thing looks like it's hauling a$$ over that first airtime hill! It is really looking like it may have the same amount as El Toro's mid-course hill. If so, then awesome!
  6. It's about following the construction of a coaster, not speculation. Speculation is making a prediction off of no evidence. Just becuase the ride has the trains on and is together doesn't mean that it's certain that testing will happen on Monday. In the end, it can confuse people. Anyways, they were testing the motor yesterday (the drum wasn't moving though). It kind of sounded like an RC car. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=3514264488832
  7. Are you aware that: blue and orange ARE complimentary colors, AND, there is a roller coaster right across the park with a blue and orange color scheme? Also, the track isn't blue. It's black. The supports are blue though.
  8. The full train is now parked inside the station. Also, Looper's station looks like it's going to be painted a different color. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-108-4-24-12/ Had to include this photo!
  9. I am assuming that this is the motorbike coaster that they are building: I don't know why, but I am kind of a little suprised that two of the six coasters they have already built are outside of China (Dubai and Argentina).
  10. Looks like one of the trains was eager to hit the track today. They also added the cable to the lift and a few magnetic brakes to Looper as well. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-107-4-19-12/
  11. Some of the cars are starting to go on the track. They had one full train in the storage track and it looks like the second one might be being added today. The ones linked are from the HersheyparkPR Twitter page and the ones uploaded are mine that were taken yesterday. https://twitter.com/#!/HersheyparkPR ------
  12. YES! I love Spring Creek Smokehouse (in fact I ate there tonight ). It is the most unique place to eat inside the park. Got another Skyrush Update for you guys. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/04/14/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-106-4-14-12/
  13. They brought the pull-through cart back out for a spin today and it's now parked at the top of the second airtime hill.
  14. I find that it depends on what angle you look at it. If you are in The Hollow, it does look a lot taller than it is, but if you're along park Bulevard, it does look shorter, but then again, you are seeing it from 30 feet above the creek.
  15. I'm starting to get my feet wet again with custom scenery for RCT3. Here's a taste of what I have so far for my first item:
  16. Found some cool photos on the HersheyparkPR Twitter page: The catchcar has been installed on the lift hill! Computer room, I believe. The famous edge seat. Check out that zero-car! That looks like a long catch car.
  17. Great Bear was operating and it had the shortest wait for the whole day (1 train wait) and they were sending out a train approximately every two minutes.
  18. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to.... The Hollow. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-4-8-12-a-look-at-the-hollow/ It feels like I've seen this picture before somewhere... Time for some panoramas!
  19. Yep. It's organized differently and the entrance has been moved to the other corner of the queue line, but the ramp and station set-up are the same. I do have to say that I love the new railings. It looks like it really opens up the station. By the way, I'll be going to the park tomorrow and will have a detailed update coming up tomorrow night.
  20. All of my photos are taken legally from outside the park. All the shots that I take, anyone can snap a photo from.
  21. Tomorrow is opening day for the 2012 season! Let's check out the progress of Skyrush and The Hollow. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/hersheypark-skyrush-and-pre-season-update-104-4-5-12/
  22. I was thinking about going to those two parks in June, but I think I can move some things around and just do SFA and KD on that date. If so, then it looks like I can go!
  23. So would this mean that Buzzsaw Falls will be staying? It could be considered to be an amusement ride and water park ride and I could see them doing something similar to Noah's Ark. I'd hate to see them build an attraction like that and then tear it down and sell it only a year later.
  24. Hersheypark has completely renovated their official website: http://www.hersheypark.com/ They also added some new details as well such as Fast Track Pass, which sounds like it's to be a system similar to Kennywood's. On those busy days, this might come in handy. http://www.hersheypark.com/rides/vip_experiences.php Also new to the site is a food and drink location database similar to the rides database: http://www.hersheypark.com/food/food_locations/index.php They also added the food and drink locations for The Hollow as well.
  25. I'm a little behind on the updates. Here is Monday's, enjoy! http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-101-3-26-12/
