I read an article recently where someone from B&M said that their coasters becoming less forcefull was because of stricter US regulations. Has anyone here ridden alot of recent outside of th US B&Ms, and if so, are they more forcefull then recent B&Ms built in the US? If that is true, it could just be US B&Ms that have been being built more and more forceless, and ones in Europe and Asia are still very forcefull rides like older B&Ms.
-
No I don't. I guess I'll try that next. Also, is the username case-sensitive? EDIT: I think I finally got it. Thanks for the help. EDIT; I did finally see it. There isn't much footage of the coaster, but it looks great. Very fast and forcefull looking, it just flys through the loop, and the low to the ground helices later in the ride look absolutly insane. Robb, please try and get a POV of it on the Korea trip, I'd love to see the entire ride.

I managed to get to the adverts in Firefox too, but now I'm trying in IE and can't get anything but the website's main page.

Could you possibly post the video on youtube? I just can't figure out what to do to get it to work. EDIT: Nevermind, I think I got it to work. EDIT 2: I'm just getting two commercials that play over and over. I did what you said, but I can't see the video.

Except for the fact that word on the street says that pride and respect are going to be pizza toppings at select Six Flags parks next year... Just don't tell anyone... -

AQUATRAX!!!!1111!!!! Sorry, I had to do it -
I mentioned that about Thunderhawk at GL in the thread earlier. It's turning 10 next year and it's still smooth as it was when it first opened. If the park takes good care of them, they will operate smooth...but if the park treats it like crap...then it turns into a Six Flags SLC. Yeah, thats what I was thinking, but my main thought was, if a small park managed to buy a B&M, and maintained it badly, I wonder if it could get pretty rough? Some B&Ms even in larger parks get pretty rough (Mantis and Batman: The Dark Knight come to mind), so what could a small park that couldn't pay for excellent maintnence like a bigger park could do to a B&M? Would it still be silky smooth like most of them, or would it get rough like older, badly maintained Vekomas do? Although I do sorta doubt that would happen. I mean, the big price tags have to be for a reason.
-
Is it just me, or does Infusion run slower than most SLCs? When I watched the POV, it looked slow, and sure enough, when I watched this POV of Mind Eraser at SFNE, it looks alot faster then Infusion. Also, I had a thought. The parks who buy B&M coasters are big parks, that can afford top-notch maitnence. Most parks that buy Vekoma are small parks that can't. And when B&Ms are not maintained well, they supposedly get very rattly. So perhaps it is mostly a maitnence thing? After all, Vekomas supossedly tend to be smooth in their first year.

Actually, they're calling it "America's Rockin' Roller Coast" these days. I guess they wanted to steal Disneyland's failures with Rockin' California Screamin' and Rockin' Space Mountain. Actualy, Cedar Point started using the slogan "America's Rock N' Roller Coast" in around 2000 or 2001, and only recently switched to a new slogan "Ride On". I guess the employees just didn't get the news. -

Or so you would think. Storm Runner's S-curve slams riders' heads from one side of the harness to the other. Ow. I can't imagine how much more painful that would be at the speed Maverick's trains will be taking that curve. Maybe a flat-section would've been better off. What people don't seem to realize, is that immediatly after the heartline roll, there is a slight left hand curve leading into the first stengel dive. This is just a change of banking heading into that curve. What really sucks is that they seemed to have enough room to signifigantly extend the roll, but for whatever reason didn't. You can really see here and here just how much room they had that just didn't utilize. I mean, would you rather have a completly nuetered Maverick open early june, or a Maverick with an extended heartline roll open later this summer? -

YEA! I mean, its not like the ride doesn't already have two or anything.... I'm a little sad the roll is going, but the ride will still be great, right? Probably. And look at it this way, you will be upside down if you tilt your head far enough to the side -

I would say you don't have much of a chance. If you really want to ride July or after would probably be the safest bet. -

Yes it was a old train car from the B&O to go with the theme. Also here is the link. Actually, there is still another suprise, which will probably have to do with the tunnel. A report from someone who saw it testing recently said that he heard from the tunnel sounds like the dinging of a railroad crossing, a "meltdown siren" and a cannon being fired. Also, inside the tunnel there where railroad crossing type signs marked "turn back", when I saw the ride on opening day. -
So I ended up getting to go to Cedar Point last weekend for opening, no Maverick, but I had alot of fun. No pictures though, because I don't have a digital camera, just a camera phone. Day 1 (Saturday) Woke up at 2:15 AM, got ready and then left at around 2:45. Got to the airport (Bradley International in Hartford, CT if you want to know) around 4:30 (It was my first time flying), and got on it around 6, and got to Cleveland around 8. We headed over to the rental car center, then drove to Bob Evans to meet my grandfather for breakfast. We ended driving atleast like 2 miles down the road, only to find that it was right next to the on ramp. We eat, then my grandfather invited us to his house, and we hang around for a little while. At around 1:30, we left for the park, and got there around 3:30. As we passed by, we noticed that the park was packed. We checked in at the Breakers, then lounged around for a while before going into the park for starlight admission. We went in the Magnum gate, and got right in line for Magnum, which said 45 minutes, but the line was moving quickly, so it seemed like only a half hour. Got the front row, and although a great ride, wasn't better than S:ROS SFNE (which from now on I will refer to simply as Superman). After that, we headed around past Dragster towards Millennium Force, and ended up getting on Mantis. After a hour or so line, we got on. Kinda fun ride, but all the headbanging in the second half pretty much ruined it. We decided to walk down Frontier Trail to see Maverick, and almost got a funnel cake, but the line was way too long. We walked past Maverick, trying to get a good look at the heartline roll, but couldn't, then went over to Mean Streak, getting a snack on the way, but it broke just as we where about to get on, so we wen't over to Skyhawk, which was alot of fun. We saw Dragster running empty, so we tried to get there before there where any lines, but there were already a ton of people there, so we headed out of the park, got pizza for dinner, and watched TV some. I wanted to go back into the park to get the last ride of the night on Millennium Force, but my dad didn't, so I asked him f I could go in alone, but he said I would have to call my mom about it, and she convinced into going in with me. We got there, and found an hour wait. Awesome ride, but I didn't think it was quite better then Superman. After that, we wen't back to the hotel and went right to sleep. Day 2 (Sunday) We woke up at 7:30, got ready, then headed down to the Cofee Shop for breakfast. After that, we went into the park. I had forgotten my jacket, but didn't go back to the room since my dad len't me his. Me got in and ran to Dragster, but found an already hour or so wait. After a couple test runs (most of which where rollbacks) they opened the line. The wind was freezing in the station, and it took ages to get on, and it really wasn't worth it. The ride is fun, but far too short. We where going to ride Corkscrew, but I wanted to but something warmer on, so we headed back up to our room. After a few minutes, we headed down to the Wicked Twister gate, and found Wicked Twister to be pratically a walk on. We ended up waiting for the front row. Way better ride then Dragster, a must do if you are at the park. I don't know why it gets lost in all the hype for Dragster and Millennium Force. After that, we headed over to maXair, which had about a half hour wait. Fun, but really no better then Skyhawk, or even normal sized Frisbees. Getting off that, we decided Raptor was next. We found it had an hour line. We got on after an hour with no complications. Great ride, silky smooth and fast and very intense throughout the entire ride. I could even feel the blood rushing away from my head in the Cobra Roll. We wanted to get the video, but it wasn't working. Afterwards, we wen't over to Blue Streak, and rode twice, once in the back and once in the front. Great ride, tons of ejector air over every hill. It must have been awesome when it had single position lap bars. Just remember to ride in the front, the airtime is more intense there. We decided to head up the midway towards Gemini and ride everything we missed along there. We waited about 15 minutes-half hour for Power Tower shot, which was decent, but not great, then hit up Corkscrew, which was fun but short. We continued up towards Gemini, riding Magnum on the way. My dad suggested the back, so we rode there. A much better ride then it was the day before, the trim brakes where off aswell. Insane airtime over the last few bunny hops. After that we bought our photo, then went back to our room to put it away. After going back into the park, we wen't straight to Gemini, which had almost no wait. We managed to get the front seat on opposing trains (me on red, my dad on blue). Fun ride, but nothing spectacular. We then wen't to Frontier Town to get on Mean Streak after missing it the day before. No line, but you can see why. It hurt alot more then Cyclone at SFNE, and had none of Cyclone's crazy airtime. Tear it down and build a record-breaking Intamin woodie. We decided to get on Skyhawk again, and after a half hour wait, we got on. Still a great ride. I'm hoping to get down to Lake Compounce later this year, so hopefully Thunder N Lighting is just as good. After riding, we headed back down Frontier Trail, trying to get a good look at Maverick's roll, but again failed. On the way back we got a funnel cake, and when we finished it was just after 6. Since the park was about to close, we decided to do Millennium Force right at closing, and do some other stuff before it. Walking down, we hit Iron Dragon since it had no line, but ended up waiting a train for the front. Cool ride, pretty fun and a nice diversion from the bigger rides. It doesn't deserve the flak it gets. After that, we went down to Raptor and rode it again, and saw that the video cameras where working, but didn't record us. We then wen't to check Wicked Twister, which was now really a walk-on. We rode three times, twice in the back and once in the middle. Ride in the back if you can, the snap through the twist on the second tower is great fun. By then it was almost 6:30, so we ran to check out Raptor, only to find the line had been closed down. We ran to Millenium Force, and where going to hop on Mantis a second time, but instead just got on Millennium. After about 45 minutes, we got on the front row. After that, I definatly have to say it is better then Superman. We left the park and then went swimming. They have a really cool hot tub at the Breakers now, it is the size of a small pool, but is heated and has two waterfalls. After soaking for about 2 hours, we had dinner at Fridays and went to bed. The next day, we got up, packed, showered, and had apples my grandfather gave us for breakfast. I had kinda wanted to try Ripcord that day, but we left before Challenge Park opened. We had an un-eventfull drive into Cleveland, but then ended up getting stuck in a really bad part of the city, and had to call back home to get directions. We dropped off the rental car, then met my grandfather again for lunch. We eat at a place not far off the highway in Berea called Donte's Restaruant. I recomend it to people who are in that area, pretty nice place. After that we headed back to the airport, and got on the plane back around 3. Allthough I was expecting a better ride on the 737 we took back then the little Embraer plane we took there, I was completly wrong, the 737 was much louder and alot rougher too. After getting back, we just picked up stuff for dinner, then went straight home. Anyway, I had a great opening weekend at Cedar Point, and I hope to be able to get back their this fall and ride Maverick. Also, kudos to CP's staff for being way better then Six Flags'. Total Ride Count; Day 1; Magnum x 1 Mantis x 1 Skyhawk x 1 Millennium Force x 1 Day 2; Top Thrill Dragster x 1 Wicked Twister x 4 maXair x 1 Raptor x 2 Blue Streak x 2 Power Tower x 1 Corkscrew x 1 Magnum x 1 Gemini x 1 Mean Streak x 1 Skyhawk x 1 Iron Dragon x 1 Millennium Force x 1

Sorry for the double post, but I had a pretty major update that would have gone completly unnoticed if I had just edited my previous post, and I didn't find any rules against double posting if you have an update. Anyway, just posting this because I wanted to get some stuff done today before I leave for Cedar Point (leaving my house at around 2:45 AM tomorrow to get there, I hope to have a TR for that up monday or tuesday), and ended up making major progress, so I decided to update. Overview of the newly updated entrance midway. The new midway, looking towards the parking lot from Fear Factor's exit. Screamliner zooming around the turn just before the second launch. Looking up at the newest ride, a B&M Dive Machine. It lacks inversions, but features a unique layout with two vertical drops, two underground tunnels, several crossovers, and a couple suprises. The second of the rides two lift hills. The first lift and second vertical drop. So that's where Maverick's coal elevator went... On ride shot of the first drop, which is inside the ride's queue house. The station and entrance, the ride still has no name, so I am taking suggestions. Astro, a Chance Inverter. To end the update, here is a before and after. This shot is from April 16th. And this one from today, May 11th. -

For Austria, the one major park is Wiener Pratner, which has 9 coasters, including a Vekoma Boomerang, custom Zamperla Volare, and a side friction woodie. There is also Erlebnispark Strasswalchen, which only has one coaster, but it is supposedly pretty good. In Poland, the biggest park is Silesian Amusment Park, which has some 40 rides, 3 coasters including an under construction Soquet looper, and also features a swimming pool complex, skate park, musuem, and rose garden, among other attractions. In Hungary, there is Vidampark, which has two family/kiddie coasters, a old wooden coaster, and a Shwarzkopf looper. In Slovakia there is nothing, and in the Tchec Republic, there is nothing unless you where talking about the Czech Republic. -

Pretty off topic, but can anyone confirm or deny that Raptor is getting on ride DVDs for 2007?
