Photo TR: A Summer at Cedar Point
schotj replied to BigDipper 80's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Awesome pics yo. Was able to make a trip out to the point last summer and really enjoyed. Love the atmosphere and collection of rides they have. Keep it up -
It even makes me wonder why they've left it dead like that for so long. It's been what, like 5 years that that section of the park has been quarantined off from the rest of everything? Either they have something major in the works for that area, or they just don't have the capital to reignite the flame for movie town/old country. Why leave such a high trafficked area blocked off? It hurts the flow of traffic, and is a complete eye-sore. It's not even like that area is in a back corner of the park. If it was opened again it would see a lot people.

Great Adventure really has the potential to be a 'Disney of the North' in my opinion. The fact that they own an incredible amount of land, are situated in some of the densest population areas of the country, and already boast a unique attraction in the safari make me believe that this park could be out of this world. While I love the thrills that great adventure offers, I think this park has much more potential. I'd be curious as to see what their 10 year plan looks like. Are they going to keep mashing coasters together? IE, Superman, Green lantern, El Toro, Kingda Ka....or are they going to re-develop some land and put some thought into further expansion.

Now imagine launching two of them, for a while at the same exact time. You can see why the park couldn't handle them, right? And I'm sure the system's problems all stemmed from the power overuse. And then on top of it you have the problem of the forces in the barrel rolls. I never got to ride them myself, or the ride at all - I only got to see it being taken down. But I have to imagine that hitting a roll like that, especially backwards when your body isn't expecting it, stresses both the body and the trains pretty hard. Yea, all that makes sense, but chiller was broken down even after the Mr. Freeze rides were up and running. My point is, why could those run successfully and this one not? Sure it was older technology, but after dumping so much money into the ride to change the profile of it, why couldn't they update the LIM's as well? Chiller constantly swapped LIM's from one track to another. It seemed like every so often one side would have more and the other less as they switched them around. So how hard would it have been to order new ones? If it was that easy haha...... Power consumption is another issue. If anything, if they could have gotten the ride working properly, they could have just one side open each day and eliminate the need to launch them both at the same time. I know I'm re-hashing an old issue, but the chiller de-construction never made sense to me

The two Freezes were made after the Chiller, so there was slightly more time to work out the kinks with the LIM systems. Plus I'm sure it didn't help that for a little while they tried to launch both Chiller tracks at once. While this is true, they dumped so much money into the ride trying to make it reliable...wouldn't they have updated the technology to that similar of the Mr. Freeze rides, if those actually ran well? I'm still in the dark on why the final decision was made to cut it all-together.

I don't post very much....

The only fast food restaurant I really go to is Subway. The rest are just nasty to me....so unhealthy and really low quality food. I'll really only hit up Subway if I'm on the road and I need a quick bite to eat. I am a victim of Dunkin' Donuts when I want coffee though. Their iced coffee is really good.

And schotj, no more posts like this please. Your posts in this thread seem to only be focused on stirring the pot. How so? I disagree with how some people see Steve Jobs. Then a dude comes along saying I'm trolling? I feel like it's the other way around.

Haha, knew it. Run away back to your hole.

Categorically untrue. Try doing some research before you post dumb stuff to the Internet. I did do research. What part of my statement don't you agree with? At least I supported my opinions with evidence. You make outlandish claims without anything to back it up with. That's rich. Hat's off to you man.

Yea, look at this: http://osxdaily.com/2010/03/28/steve-jobs-car-has-no-license-plates/

LLO...you can't say someone's opinion is wrong, that's just not how it works. The guy said Steve Jobs did nothing for him. How is that wrong? I agree with him in respect that the Apple company didn't really do much for me; much of it was overpriced, under-performing equipment. I see Steve Jobs as an innovator in marketing. That's pretty much it. What did he do besides trick people into buying a barely different product every six months? He made a slight difference in interface design, but that's hardly a reason to make the guy a deity. Taking a step back and looking at it objectively, all he did was put a touch screen on something which really only paid off because they were such a huge company that had the money to make it plus the cult following after the iMac 1 and the classic iPod. Those were basically huge products all because of the product design lifted straight from dieter rams 40 years ago. I'm just annoyed at the throngs of people who sweat apple so hard just because they make some phone that does pretty much everything every other phone makes, just a clever advertising scheme. Apple revolutionized the music industry, there's no denying that. With the addition of iTunes, although I don't like it, where you could buy individual songs legally at a relatively cheap price, Apple exploded. I give him credit however for financing Pixar when no one else would. I appreciate that. Possibly my favorite thing to come from Jobs. I'm not diminishing him as a human, there are just some people who have a huge hard on for Steve Jobs because of his 'revolutionary' tech ideas. I disagree. He knew how to market his products. That's about it. Rest in Peace
