Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
schotj replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
one train operations irritate me to no end. I understand it's done so the maintenance crew can save time/money by not having to keep up with both trains...but it is SO inefficient. If you're only open 5 hours, make the guests your first priority. PLEASEEEE -
Record Breaking Waterslide?

Looks like a water slide I'd build in RCT haha. It'll be really interesting to hear how this ride plays out -

Thunder and Lightning is pretty solid. It's a small family park, so don't expect any exorbitant thrills other than Boulder Dash -
Lake Compounce Discussion Thread

I went Friday night, and rode Boulder Dash twice. First time was at dusk when the sun was just setting...and the second time was at about 9:30 right before I left. That last ride was BY far the best coaster experience I have ever had. It had just rained which lubed up the tracks, and the train was out of control! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

LOVE to see the early start they're getting on this. So many parks are notorious for starting construction late into the year and not being able to have the ride ready for opening day. Let's hope the pace keeps up! -
I'm 6'8", and while I fit on most rides, it's not the most comfortable. Kingda Ka at GADV is pretty brutal on my shoulders because I'm not able to sit up straight. B&M's would are definitely the most comfortable though.

Hey Robb I know you were toying with the idea of a design change for the front page a little while back...although I'm not totally sure if you decided to go through with it...but I was wondering if you're open to ideas about the forums. I find myself browsing and reading more than I do posting, but I can get overwhelmed with the quantity of threads within the 'main' forum; Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, and Donkeys. Have you ever thought about the idea of adding additional sub-forums within that one? I know there are a ton of international folk that frequent this site, so what about forums dedicated to discussing American Parks, European Parks, or Asian Parks? Or a forum dedicated to new construction/future projects, while one talks about what is currently going on? Those are just random thoughts I had, and was wondering what you thought. I've been following for years, and the quantity of content has significantly increased. Just throwing out ideas. Thanks!

My role is simply to help with promotion, and to lend advice where I can based on my years in the video games and theme park business. I guess you can say I'm "helping" to produce it, but I'm not producing it. It's 100% a Pantera Entertainment development. Makes sense. i knew you were involved in the video game scene a while back...just wasn't sure if this was an extension of that. Looking forward to the final product

Usually its in the low 40's. It depends on manufacturer's recommendations. I know I have been to Hershey for Springtime in the Park and once it got to below 45 degrees the coasters closed. I will be there Saturday - only a 10% chance of rain and currently reads 47 degrees as the high. Great Adventure doesn't seem to have any interest whatsoever in manufacturers recommendations. I say this because on October 30th, 2011 on the day after a large snowstorm that gave us a rare "White Halloween", they opened all of the coasters (except for Kingda Ka which was closed for much of the 2011 season because of that cable snap). It was incredibly cold in NJ that day. Hershey never opened their coasters. Source stating all coasters were open. Weather that day come to think of it...i think you're spot on. I HATE going to six flags NE because of the height restrictions on all their good rides. Bizarro, Goliath, Mindbender, all have a 6'4" height maximum...and I'm 6'7" lol. It really depends on the ride-op though because I've been able to ride Bizarro, hands up the whole time, and I've been completely fine. GADV on the other hand, there are zero height restrictions that I know of...but there probably should be. For example on El Toro, if I raise my hands up high enough in the back seat of each car, I can hit the beams going under the structure. Also on Kingda Ka, the OTSH are really tight on my shoulders.

Rob, you seem pretty set in your ways about only supporting the apple platform: This thread is for discussing why. Considering that the Galaxy S3 has just surpassed a new record for selling 20 million phones in 100 days....I'm curious about your business practices.

I would rather have fewer downloads than support Android. I really do not want this thread to become posts about Android phones. We're not supporting it. There. Done. No more discussion is needed, so any further posts regarding Android will be deleted, and the poster will get a 24 hour ban from TPR. This thread is about our Roller Coaster Trivia App, and those people who have downloaded and played it. Please post if you've downloaded it! Thank you! --Robb What about windows phone? That's what I have and want to download it!

My thoughts Big - Dippin Dots Cart Bigger - Dippin Dots Stand Biggest - Dippin Dots Store Biggest might have something to do with the safari because that's a fairly large chunk of land they would be dealing with Bigger/Big - opening back up the movie town/old country section with a roller coaster and a few flats all of that would be ideal...but it's doubtful that it would all happen in one season

I think a baller water park would be a great way to get GADV more publicity. I know the theme park has a bunch of space to expand...but I'm not sure about the water park. Is the space limited by the theme park or the safari? I don't know. Also the fact that it's separate admission means that GADV should at least make it worth the money. Is Holiday World's water park separate admission from the theme park? They have two kick ass water coasters there....GADV should invest in one, and a sweet unique slide complex.
