  1. I bet they are putting the rumored flyers in next year to beat SFMM by one coaster if they market them as two separate.
  2. I'm sure some of those park will go back to their original names. Just like Geauga Lake came back when they acquired SFWOA.
  3. I agree with socalman123 i do not think it would be a smart move for Cedar Fair to buy the whole chain a few parks would be fine. They should get GADV so they can have big money makers in the mid west and east with record breaking rides. Both GADV and the Point both draw a lot of income so it would help them in the long run. Plus its my home park it deserves good treatment.
  4. My first Looping Roller Coaster was Sooper Dooper Looper at Hershey Park.
  5. I am not sure if this is a more economical way but wouldnt selling the parks off be better then handing over your debt to a new company. I mean $2 billion dollars is a lot I am not sure who would want to buy the company. It may be a risky situation for them. It seems the debt is worth more then the company. I know some of you may think the parks would all get the bad end of the stick like SFAW but Cedar Fair did express interest in that park. Just a thought.
  6. Parktrips I mean that GADV has food stores that are ran from in the park. Meaning the park gets the full 100% profit verses the outsiders that the park probably gets a small percentage of the profit. Some examples would be Granny's Chicken near the Big Wheel, some of the smaller food and drink stands, Best of the West near log flume, The new Out Post Grill used to be Doge House. Those places are ran by GADV the old McDonalds and the Wok N Roll are out side vendors. You can tell because they don't have the SF uniform shirt like the food places that GADV runs have on.
  7. Great video that has to be one of my favorite drop rides.
  8. SFGADV has had out sourcing food places for years. We used to have a McDonald and you would pay like 5 dollars for a hamburger that would be on the dollar menu at the one down the road. They have a Wok N Roll and you pay 10 dollars for food that is worth maybe 6 dollars at a normal Chinese food place. I don't think out sourcing is a good idea since most people bring their own food to parks and eat the picnic areas or at their cars. We already pay a ton to get into a park why make us pay more money. I am not speaking on an enthusiast side but more on a GP side. Most people that go to theme parks bring their food. When I was younger and we had a family pass my mom would stop at Jersey Mikes Subs or make sandwiches. We would eat at are car and have the one day a year to buy souvenirs. When we would go to are car their would be lots of others doing the same and still happens. So how would out sourcing be any better? That company still needs to make there profit and so does SF.
  9. I agree as well about being open to any new management. I just remember how much fun the parks used to be. I am not saying there not any more. I just have a memory of when my home park was clean, safe, fun in the mid to late 90's. Parents would drop their kids off and not have to worry about thugs or other issues. I disagree with Twister II when its just a NJ thing. I have seen the park in its best and worst. I live in a great area in NJ. I think its all a marketing issue and wanting to bring in money no matter where it comes from. We can not stereotype a whole state for those from bad areas. If they up the prices like it seems Snyder wants to do it may cut back on these issues. Families tend to have more money and if they realize a safe area for their families they will spend the money. A good example is Disney World. Families pay a ton of money in traveling and hotel stays. Look at the Location of Disney World. When I was down their last there was news about issues in Orlando from fights and robberies. Every state has these issues but its how each park wants to bring in their money. The family way or if you can count to $50 dollars bring it attitude.
  10. I just hope who ever runs SF next year gets rid of the bad crowds. At least at GADV the crowds are horrible. They are extremely rude, nasty, and over all disgusting. Its not a place for small children or families. If Snyder wants to make it clean, safe, and fun he will have to start with the crowd. I have seen the crews get attacked by foul language and other obscene words. I wouldn't be surprised if this leads to their bad attitude we all read about. Making minimum wage and dealing with those people. It seems the current management does not recognize that.
  11. I love rides of all types but I am not too sure if the Star Flyer is for me looks way to insane. Does anyone know their record for safety?
  12. The only ride I have been stuck on was TTD. We were on the second train as we were heading out to the waiting area to be launched. The train stoped. I looked over at the operator booth and saw a red light flashing. We were then backed up to the station postions and then went back to the launch. Not that exciting a roll back would have be better.
  13. ^ you can go to sixflags.com for the animation
  14. I have no problems with the OTSR's. I find them to give me more room and air time. The only ride I think is a bit much to add the OTSR's to is Rita. I have not been to Alton Towers to ride it but looking at videos and pictures it looks like a larger launched version of Tivoli Coaster. I got a lot more air time on KK then TDD cause I was not stapled as much since the OTSR's were used. I have also sated in a previous post that from talking with operators at KK they said the Intamin considers these to be a redesign of a lap bar since the straps don't really have a function other then a back up safety precaution.
  15. Well since Viper at SFGADV is no longer not sure if we can count that but that was the worst ever. Flashback at SFMM one time only never do it again. If you don't know how to ride the Arrow Loopers they can give you a nice beating. Same with the Vekoma rides. I though X was smooth when I was on it January 03'. CoasterCrazy has it gotten rough since then?
  16. ^not sure if your suggesting paddle boats again or that area on the peninsula of log flume across from where the paddle boasts used be?
  17. From looking at the pictures I am sure they are keeping the bridge. They probably had it closed for construction from removing viper and now building El Toro. As for the nice landscaping they put in. I am sure they will still have most of it left and looking just as good or better then it was this year. I am sure the theme and landscaping will be great. They did an awesome job fixing the landscaping around the park. But they did re pave the parking lot the year before they built SUF so who knows.
  18. They normally don't announce there times till after the first of the year.
  19. Most wood coasters have steel sheets placed over the wood so its easier for the wheels of the train to ride. Does this make them a steelie or a woodie?
  20. Looks like you may actually get some air time on the bunny hill unlike KK
  21. I'm not sure if i read the press realease properly but I thought Volcano in PKD had the tallest inversion at 155'ft? I can say I'm glad to see an X-coaster make it to the U.S.
  22. SROS does not have the this style restraint systems correct but this new design does allow more guests to properly fit safely into the seat. This allows more people to be able to enjoy these attractions. I guess you can compare it to having a larger seat for the whole train verses the single seat some of the B&M rides have.
  23. I thought Xanadu was under construction. I heard it would not be ready until 2012.
  24. From talking with park Employees at both Hershey and GADV. Intamin does not consider what we would call OTSR'S. They state it’s a redesign of their lap bar system. If you think about it we are being held in at the waist and not at the shoulder. The straps that are over us do not even make contact with are body unless you are a larger guest. I also have realized from riding TTD there is a lot more air time on both Storm Runner and even Kingda Ka. This is most likely because we are not completely stapled as the crews at Cedar Point have done. The only ride that I feel comes close to the air time on both Storm runner and Kingda Ka would be Xcelerator. The signs also state to hold onto the black grab bars which are on the lap bar portion. This is different since on a typical OTSR we hold onto the portion over our shoulder. I do not understand why everyone gets all edgy. As long as the ride still has air time I am happy and there is no way these new restraints restrict the air time. I am confident Intamin knows what they are doing to keep their rides safe with the same old shock factor.
