  1. Here's a wild idea. How about we go back to the days when the park and its core experience were solid enough to keep guests coming back, regardless of how long it had been since a major addition? There are plenty of parks that I've been to, large and small, that I would absolutely go to again even if they were exactly the same as they were several years ago. No park, anywhere, for the entirety of human existence, will ever have a "complete" collection of anything. Because, regardless of what they do, there will always be people that will complain, and additions that seemed new and exciting will eventually become old and dull, and the needs of new generations of guests will need to be addressed. If Cedar Point had a "complete" coaster collection we wouldn't be hearing everyone shout, "OMG RMC MEAN STREAK". If Canada's Wonderland had a "complete" collection no one would care about "Ziz". If Busch Gardens Williamsburg had a "complete" collection we wouldn't be arguing about height restrictions.
  2. Honestly, this is one of the things that keeps me motivated to finish my Master's and get into this business. I wish there were more parks with attractions that can be enjoyed by everyone! Cough cough. Just build Firechaser Express everywhere. Cough cough. EDIT: Memo Knoebels - Firechaser Express clone as your next coaster. Cough cough.
  3. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are the Mr. Freeze coasters which have the sliding track, and California Screamin', which has the fork track.
  4. I've honestly leaned more toward the "ride coasters because they're fun" mentality more and more as I've grown older. It's why Phoenix is my favorite, honestly, and it's why I enjoy riding coasters like Firechaser Express and Freedom Flyer over and over.
  5. Darn it, I don't need any more reminders of my own stupidity. Leave me alone!
  6. I'm assuming this is one of the reasons why transfer garages on B&Ms don't have any rails but rather a line of wheels that runs down the center.
  7. Why? It's stupidly simple, and it works. I'm actually thrilled that it's a set of Rocky Mountain trains that ISN'T covered in wood-look trim, or iron-look trim, or some weird thematic element. It's a coaster, it's not trying to be anything else.
  8. Yeah, color me disappointed about the 46" restriction. Though, wishful thinking, maybe this is part of a longer-term plan and there will be a bunch of new flat rides with 36-46" restrictions installed over the next few years.
  9. Hey everyone, Just wanted to bring to your attention that, based on the build quality of some new games, we've added new tags to be placed before project titles when you start a new thread. They are: [ORCT2] for parks created using the open-source RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 project OpenRCT2 [PKT] for parks created using Parkitect OpenRCT2 is a little tricky because builds are being...built all the time. Until they reach a consistently stable release please be sure to let everyone know what build you're using for your park. The best practice would probably be to just use the latest "stable" build (which is 0.0.3 at this time) but that's up to you. The same goes for Parkitect. Thanks!
  10. You are most certainly right. They need something to fit between Grover's Alpine Express and the others. Even Big Bad Wolf wouldn't have done that, though, in my opinion. Regardless of its height restriction I'm not very sure I'd consider it a true family coaster. Here's a fun question - how about a coaster with those kid-sized trains they put on Coastersaurus?
  11. A family wooden coaster? Like White Lightning? HECK. YES. My goodness, I'm so excited that it's a Great Coasters project.
  12. Honestly, situations like this me wonder if, in reality, Busch Gardens' refusal to acknowledge Tempesto actually paid off. I wonder how a park would be received if they, say, pulled the "Apple approach" and announced a brand new ride opening several weeks to a month after the announcement, as opposed to building hype over an entire off-season.
  13. As someone who doesn't have a set date to go ride the thing, this would be good news because I'd rather they get it done right. However, I do feel frustrated for those who have planned resort stays around the coaster's opening.
  14. They -kind of- do it at the Walt Disney World parks in that even though clusters of FastPass Plus kiosks are placed near attractions specifically, you can pretty much reserve any attraction's FastPass at any kiosk. At least, that's what I remember happening.
  15. I would guess that this also means that the coaster doesn't end up being "better" at night and / or "not as good" in the morning.
  16. The location inside the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse has one of my favorite ropes courses.
  17. That looks to be about the same size, if not a little bit larger, than the Wizarding World. As an FYI, that map in the article is rotated 180 degrees compared to Google Maps.
  18. Still not good enough, methinks. If they're looking for a true family coaster they need something like Firechaser Express. Having a lower height restriction isn't what makes a coaster a family coaster - it has to be more approachable than a big, bad B&M.
  19. I mean, they let Rattler rot for...twenty years?
  20. Honestly, I absolutely think that Six Flags would have had Rocky Mountain redo the coaster, albeit Twisted Colossus-style or still two separate tracks.
  21. Cross-quote from the Magic Mountain thread: Honestly, I'd feel like Batwing would be a more "appropriate" ride for this sort of thing, but I understand that they want to deploy the Metropolis one for the Superman coasters.
  22. The VR Coaster system is definitely an interesting trend, even though it isn't my cup of tea.
  23. I mean, Flying Aces is the only coaster of its kind in the UAE. Laying aside the winged trains, there aren't any traditional mega coasters in that market.
  24. Looking good. It seems to be very graceful.
  25. I'll be honest, I just want to see an on-ride video of the darned thing.
