  1. I think the "small Gem" idea stems from the fact that pretty much every amusement park in North America is dwarfed by Disney and Universal's parks. I think the Disney / Universal market is out of reach for them, the general public will come from all over the world to go to those places. I feel like Dollywood and Silver Dollar City are attempting to stake their claim on their domestic markets, much like higher-end theme parks in continental Europe. I think they want to capture people who would normally come to the Smokies or the Ozarks for another reason and keep them in their resort bubbles for as long as possible.
  2. Is there a source available if the zoning plan rejection was made public (for Grona Lund)? Would be useful for my own research, even if it would need translation.
  3. Grona Lund has just announced a major new expansion, anticipated to open in 2024! https://www.gronalund.com/2024 The press release is only available in Swedish, but here are the highlights: New amusement area with 25 percent of land and roof surfaces designed with trees and vegetation and a park-like character Potential new attraction with an overall height of 45 meters "Classic amusement romance" with new attractions at ground level Public bridge / beach promenade Architecture borrowing from historic buildings around the area This post will be updated if and when an English press release is published.
  4. And the map would make sense if the above rumor were true. If they really wanted to get rid of Avalanche, I believe they would do so before starting the construction work on the Free Spin. Mack still sells the Bobsleigh coasters as new models so it's not like Kings Dominion would be running out of parts to maintain it.
  5. Hi Valenz - Thanks for your contribution! However, your post violates the TPR Terms of Service: I've left the thread intact but I've removed your links. Please contribute to the forum! We don't know much about who you are. Thanks!
  6. This is a pointless argument, go back to complaining about Mystery Mine's new track or something.
  7. Keep this conversation on the potential Gerstlauer coaster please, talk about Dollywood's next coaster in the Dollywood thread.
  8. 9. Oh for goodness' sake. Herschend is not going to change anything about the freaking music because family / gospel stuff is their brand. Dollywood especially has successfully toed the line in making their religious values known, but not so in-your-face that it is alienating. I really don't see that changing, especially considering that mindset is anchored in tradition.
  10. We're not sure of the nature of this announcement today... EDIT: The Harlem Globetrotters are coming back!
  11. If Dolly Parton is in fact selling her stake or whatever, there can still be licensing agreements in place to keep the museum going, bring her and others in for shows, etc... I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons that she's stuck around for so long is because she and Herschend's brand mesh together so well. Silver Dollar City and Dollywood are IMO the best theme parks in the US not named Disney or Universal, I don't see that changing a whole lot. Maybe a little less butterflies though.
  12. Grand Reveal: See How the Disney Wish Will Unlock Enchanting Family Vacations in Summer 2022 VIDEO: https://www.facebook.com/194340658565/videos/299470571877897/ by Laura Cabo, Portfolio Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering Today was a special day for Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering, as we unveiled a first look at the incredible spaces and experiences coming to the Disney Wish. I could not be more proud of our teams for the hard work and dedication they’re putting into making Disney’s newest ship unlike anything on the seas. If you saw the video we released last week — the first in our “Designing the Disney Wish series” — you already know what a special passion project this has been for me. Leading the creative team for Disney’s fleet expansion truly is a dream come true, and I am so excited to share the details of our grand reveal with you. When the Disney Wish sets sail in summer 2022, you’ll be immersed in Disney’s rich legacy of enchanting storytelling. We’re bringing to life the stories and characters of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars adventures like never before. While I won’t be able to share every ounce of magic we’re putting on this ship (we’re saving some to reveal over the coming months!), I hope the details I do share get you every bit as excited as I am to cruise on the Disney Wish. To “Swim”-finity and Beyond We’re taking fun in the sun to the next level on board the Disney Wish with a brand-new family water attraction and three themed districts that offer dedicated space for families, children and adults alike. You’ll be immersed in “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts aboard the first-ever Disney attraction at sea, AquaMouse. Complete with show scenes, lighting and special effects, and splashtacular surprises, this wild water ride is sure to delight everyone in the family as they zig, zag and zoom through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks. Families will have more pools, more deck space and more dining than ever before in an expansive district themed to Mickey and friends. In addition to AquaMouse, the area will feature six pools — spaciously staggered among tiered decks and surrounded by lounge chairs — and a fresh take on quick and casual fare with a festive character twist. Little ones will delight in an all-new Toy Story-themed district designed especially for families with toddlers and young children. This whimsical water wonderland will include a splash zone, wading pool, family waterslide and smoothie bar. Adults will indulge in sun-drenched serenity at Quiet Cove, a peaceful refuge dedicated to lounging, sipping and soaking. Set away from the bustle of family activities, this secluded adults-only district will feature a luxurious infinity pool, poolside bar and chic cafe. Prepared and Served with Flair – A Culinary Cabaret With the debut of three brand-new family dining concepts ranging from theatrical entertainment to cinematic adventure to sophisticated elegance, dinner on board the Disney Wish will be so much more than a meal – it will be a chance to interact with favorite Disney stories in exciting new ways. Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure is Disney’s first “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience that will bring the world of Arendelle to life through immersive live entertainment — featuring favorite characters like Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf — and world-class cuisine infused with Nordic influences. Worlds of Marvel is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, where you’ll play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around you, complete with a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 1923, named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, is an elegant celebration of the company’s legacy, paying homage to the golden age of animation and offering a tasteful tribute to its Californian heritage with dishes inspired by the state’s unique fusion of cultural flavors. A Whole New World of Family Entertainment We’re combining innovative design, technology and storytelling to create immersive entertainment environments that will surround guests in Disney stories in new and unexpected ways on board the Disney Wish. The Grand Hall will evolve from a fairytale gathering space into an environmental theater through the magic of built-in special effects and the first-ever atrium stage on a Disney ship. Dedicated shows and interactive entertainment will come to life all around the hall, putting you front and center as you play a special role in the magic. Luna is a brand-new entertainment hub that will transition from a daytime setting for family fun into an elegant evening venue for adult-exclusive entertainment, offering a variety of live shows and interactive programming throughout the day. Hero Zone is a futuristic sports arena where physical activity will blend with imagination during action-packed challenges and game show-style competitions for families to take on together. The Walt Disney Theatre is an opulent show palace that will come alive with original Broadway-style stage productions developed exclusively for Disney Cruise Line. The Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas are intimate screening rooms that will provide you more options than ever to watch classic and first-run films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and more. In true Disney Cruise Line fashion, the Disney Wish will offer a robust menu of world-class entertainment throughout every voyage, including spectacular stage shows, exhilarating deck parties, one-of-a-kind character experiences, fun family activities, contemporary cabarets and more. Imaginations, Assemble! Cool Clubs for Kids of All Ages Children ages 3 to 12 will enter the captivating worlds of favorite Disney stories in the reimagined Disney’s Oceaneer Club, a real-life wonderland featuring more spaces and stories than ever before. Marvel Super Hero Academy is a high-tech Avengers headquarters where young “recruits” will train to be the next generation of Super Heroes with the help of their own heroes, like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Fairytale Hall is a royal trio of activity rooms where princesses and princes will let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus. Walt Disney Imagineering Lab is a first-of-its-kind opportunity for kids to discover the secrets of Disney Imagineers with hands-on activities and inventive experiments. For the littlest cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years, It’s a Small World Nursery will offer babysitting services in a whimsical environment inspired by the beloved Disney attraction of the same name. Edge (ages 11 to 14) and Vibe (ages 14 to 17) are trendy hangouts where tweens and teens will chill and play in their own way, with dedicated programming designed to engage the unique interests of these age groups. A Trove of Untold Treasures Exclusively for Adults For the first time on a Disney ship, you will embark on a space-jumping tour of the Star Wars galaxy at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship. This richly themed, immersive experience will be reserved for adults every evening, offering interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by destinations such as Batuu, Tatooine and Mustafar. You’ll savor gourmet meals and exceptional beverages at an upscale suite of epicurean excellence exclusively for adults, inspired by the elegant icons of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Beauty and the Beast.” Palo Steakhouse is an evolution of the Palo restaurant that Disney cruisers know and love, now combining the relaxed sophistication of authentic Italian dining with the classic refinement of a modern steakhouse in a genteel setting inspired by Cogsworth, the tale’s majordomo-turned-enchanted-clock. Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement will offer the most luxurious dining experience on board, featuring a gourmet menu crafted by the three-Michelin-starred chef. This romantic and intimate venue evokes the dazzling spirit of the film’s candelabra maitre d’, Lumiere. The Rose is a chic lounge at the entrance of Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. Inspired by the fateful flower at the heart of the story, The Rose will be an idyllic setting for a pre-dinner aperitif or after-dinner cocktail. Senses Spa is a tranquil oasis offering indulgent spa and beauty treatments, drawing on the serenity of natural elements to promote pampering and relaxation. The spa will feature private treatment rooms, lavish spa villas, and steam and aromatherapy rooms, while the reimagined Senses Fitness will offer state-of-the-art exercise and wellness facilities. Other adult-exclusive spaces on board the Disney Wish will include the Quiet Cove pool district; a variety of gourmet cafes, relaxed bars and upscale lounges; and more. Artful Accommodations Where Dreams Do Come True With an all-new look and feel steeped in enchantment and inspired by dreamy Disney stories, every stateroom on board the Disney Wish will be a luxurious, peaceful retreat designed with ample room for families, plenty of storage and upscale amenities. Most will feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept for utmost comfort and function. Most of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms will offer an ocean view — including 877 (70%) with a spacious verandah — and there will be 451 connecting doors that adjoin rooms to accommodate larger families. The Disney Wish will elevate the concierge experience with more than double the number of premium concierge staterooms and suites, including Disney’s first-ever staterooms located above the bridge, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows that reveal breathtaking ocean views overlooking the bow of the ship. An exclusive lounge with private sun deck will be the perfect place for concierge guests to relax, sip a cocktail, and enjoy a premium level of dedicated service throughout the voyage. The Disney Wish will also debut four royal suites – richly adorned, lavishly appointed suites that accommodate up to six guests and feature extravagant details and first-class amenities. These include a pair of two-story suites, the first of their kind within the Disney fleet, which will feature stunning statement pieces like an elegant spiral staircase and a spectacular two-deck-high stained-glass frieze. Setting Sail Summer 2022 The Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage — a five-night cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay — on June 9, 2022, followed by an inaugural season of three- and four-night cruises to the same destinations from Port Canaveral, Fla. Bookings open to the general public on May 27, 2021. More details about the Disney Wish are on the horizon. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog to be among the first to see our exciting updates!
  13. This is correct, when your rankings are set to Private (or Public: no on your settings), the page comes up as a 404. Keep in mind that this only happens when we have voting closed, when voting opens back up again here in a month or so once the new season kicks off in earnest, you'll be able to see them regardless again.
  14. For what it's worth, a friend of mine has been going to SeaWorld San Diego now and some photos they sent me showed some parts of the ride covered in cobwebs.
  15. Unfortunately, you are correct, they were left off of the wooden coaster results in error due to being part of a depreciated "hybrid" classification that we had used previously. While I regret the error and apologize, we will not be doing anything about it at this time because they are showing up correctly on the combined poll, which is the one that is aggregated by third parties. Their entries have been fixed and will show up correctly on next year's wooden poll where they belong. Thanks for understanding.
  16. They're on there, they're just probably not as high in the rankings as you anticipated them to be! Cornball Express placed at #207, Lost Coaster placed at #360, and Hoosier Hurricane placed at #366.
  17. From what I understand, the refurbishment efforts are ongoing and being handled on-site at the park. I believe those pieces are still coming from Mexico, it can be assumed that the pieces already at the park are in the process of being worked on while waiting for the others.
  18. Yep, this took over A Bug's Land, and the Flic's Fliers balloon race ride was rethemed and relocated to Pixar Pier where Maliboomer used to be.
  19. I believe the Web Slingers ride uses gesture-based control as opposed to a physical gun prop, not unlike the Ninjago dark rides at Legoland parks.
  20. Disney has announced that the Avengers Campus will be opening on June 4th! Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort Set to Open and Recruit Super Heroes June 4 https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/04/avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort-set-to-open-and-recruit-super-heroes-june-4/ Super Heroes Assemble! As we’ve all been anticipating, I’m pleased to share that Avengers Campus – an entirely new land dedicated to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of Super Heroes – will open June 4, 2021 at the Disneyland Resort! At this fully immersive land inside Disney California Adventure park, you will be invited to team up with the Avengers and their allies and live out your Super Hero dreams. Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations, each hosted by a different Avenger to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits. Today, I’m also excited to unveil a first look inside Avengers Campus! Sling webs with Spider-Man and unite with the Guardians of the Galaxy The first key area is the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB. It brings together bright innovators like Peter Parker who have been assembled by Tony Stark to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become Super Heroes like the Avengers. WEB will house the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature the iconic friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! We previously shared that Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man in the new family-friendly attraction, which invites you to put your web-slinging skills to the test and experience what it’s like to have powers alongside Spider-Man – a feat accomplished with innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction, perfect for up-and-coming recruits of all ages. The second anchor attraction looms high above the land, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, a fan-favorite that opened in 2017. This rockin’ adventure blasts you straight into the “Guardians of the Galaxy” story, alongside characters from the blockbuster films and comics. As you help Rocket bust his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy out of the Collector’s Fortress, you will experience raucous mayhem, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies, thrilling free-fall drop sequences and six different story lines! Power up with tiny treats and massive meals When it is time to take a break from the heroics, several new dining spots at Avengers Campus will offer dishes that are rich in both flavor and storytelling. Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive entrees and sweet treats. You will be able to savor such items as the Impossible™ plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich. Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. You can order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager, or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments. Both locations will offer mobile ordering via the Disneyland App.* Visit one of The Avengers favorite food joints, Shawarma Palace. Enjoy a shawarma wrap at this food cart, which is decked out with memorabilia for Avenger fans. Lastly, Taneleer Tivan did not limit his collection to lovable misfits; he is also curating a weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats at the Terran Treats food cart near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Team up with the Avengers and their allies like never before Throughout Avengers Campus, Super Heroes will come to life in more exciting ways than ever. You may have heroic encounters with Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Black Widow, Ant-Man and The Wasp, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and even villains like Loki, some of whom are making their first appearances at the park. You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never seen before in a Disney theme park. At a nearby ancient sanctum, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy. Suit up with the latest Super Hero gear The WEB Suppliers store will offer the latest inventions, including interactive Spider-Bots much like the ones you will see in the new attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Each Spider-Bot has a remote control, and all eight articulated legs move forward and backward. You may customize your Spider-Bot with tactical upgrades to harness the powers and style of favorite Super Heroes, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Other must-have items at WEB Suppliers include a specially-designed backpack to carry Spider-Bots when they are not in action, Spider-Man light goggles, a take-home spider web kit and Funko Pop! vinyl figurines of Spider-Man and Iron Man. The Campus Supply Pod is the place to power up with official Avengers Campus gear, including performance fleece hoodies and tees, headwear, drinkware and other Super Hero supplies. We are counting down the days till we can team up with the Avengers and their allies, sling webs with Spider-Man, taste-test inventive food and drinks and become part of a bigger universe alongside some of our favorite Super Heroes.
  21. So then here's the next thing... How good has reservation ability been on short notice?
  22. I would purchase a season pass, but I don't think it's wise for me to do so until reservation availability is confirmed for the specific date I'm looking at in June.
  23. Hey everyone, am I just dumb or has Six Flags not opened up ticket sales for the month of June yet?
