I found this old thread and hope you don't mind me bumping it. It's been bumped once before from 2005 to 2012 and I noticed that the last time people ranked the coasters was before Gatekeeper opened. Since wingriders have been a big topic of conversation today, I thought it would be a perfect time to bump it and see where everyone ranked the Cedar Point coasters and where Gatekeeper fell on the list. Mine 1- Millennium Force 2 - Maverick 3 - Raptor 4 - Gatekeeper 5 - Top Thrill Dragster 6 - Magnum XL 200 7 - Wicked Twister 8 - Gemeni 9 - Blue Streak 10 - Iron Dragon 11 - Cedar Creek Mine Ride 12 - Mean Streak 13 - Woodstock's Express 14 - Mantis 15 - Corkscrew 16 - Jr. Gemeni / Wilderness Run

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I agree with this about a million times over. Same here... I love that last Corkscrew, especially because the train acts as if it's going to twist in the opposite direction right before it. An extra helix or something would be nice but as is I still really like Great Bear. There are much better inverts but it's still a great ride. -

Great Adventure names their Scrambler Deja Vu for some reason... -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Great Adventure is my home park and I go about 5-10 times a year and El Toro has always been open. It had a lift motor issue that caused it to go down for a few months this year but to my knowledge it's never had an issue like that before, and that could really happen to any coaster. I've seen the coaster go down for half hour periods here and there but I wouldn't call it unreliable by any stretch. I would even say it's more reliable than Batman which is amazing since it's a B&M coaster but for some reason that thing breaks down all the time (never for the whole day, but for prolonged periods throughout the day). There is absolutely no reason why Cedar Point shouldn't get an Intamin wood coaster. Every park that can afford one should go and buy one right now. They're amazing. -

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I love wing coasters. I know I'm in the minority but the more wing coasters, the better. They're not super intense but I think they're great rides. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

The way enthusiasts talk about the GP you would think these people couldn't even wipe themselves. I highly doubt that people think Psyclone and Apocalypse are the same coaster. If they did... how come the line for Apocalypse is always so long when the line for Psyclone was always non existant? Unless the line consists of only enthusiasts I think people must have figured it out. That being said, if there was ever any mass confusion about something like this then it would really be on the park for not marketing themselves properly. If Cedar Point demolishes Mean Streak and replaces it with a new coaster and they don't get the word out, then shame on them. As far as Blue Streak goes, I agree that the coaster is underrated. It's always a walk on (probably due in part to it's location) and it's a lot of fun. We always ride it a lot when we go to Cedar Point. -
So.. let me make sure I'm following you on this one. First you would have "killed off" the "fake mouse" ride instead of scrapping it (you just contradicted yourself, are we removing it or scrapping it?). Then you would have called up Cedar Point and asked if they would be willing to sell you their beat to crap bobsled coaster with a ridiculously low capacity completely ignoring the fact that there is already a beat to crap bobsled coaster in the chain that's rumored to be on it's way out at Great Escape that you could just move here without having to buy anything. You're also ignoring the fact that said beat to crap Bobsled was removed in 1988 FROM GREAT ADVENTURE because it has terrible capacity and can't run in any rain at all. What I'm not sure about is if you want to put Disaster Transport in the Dark Knight building where it wouldn't fit at all or if it would become an outdoor coaster that can't run in the rain. I'm also not sure why you'd put a ride with a capacity too low for Great Escape at Great Adventure.

Least favorite coaster element.
coasterbill replied to darklingscribe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never had an issue with B&M corkscrews, I'm surprised to see that so many people don't like them. The corkscrews (or Flat spins if you want to be technical) on the old inverts are actually some of my favorite B&M elements. -
Unless I'm just forgetting a park I don't think any Six Flags park has a giant Frisbee or an S&S Swing ride. Both rides also have a lot of mechanical problems. I absolutely love them and think they're great, but I'm worried that the maintenance headaches combined with the fact that Six Flags has never purchased either of them before (that I can think of) make it unlikely (but not impossible) that they'll be coming to Great Adventure anytime soon.

I don't find Maverick rough in any way shape or form, but I find the restraints on Skyrush to be pretty painful. I think in both cases it depends a lot on your height, body type and where you sit on the train. That being said the complaints about Maverick seem to be few and far between whereas on Skyrush it seems like it's about a 50/50 split between people that think the restraints take away from the ride experience and people that think Skyrush is perfect the way it is. I look forward to riding Skyrush again in a different, non-wing seat and see if I like it any better... but when I rode it this year I really didn't enjoy it. -
It's my home park so I never really think about it since I know how to get to everything but now that you mention it you're absolutely right. You have to cut through an arcade to bypass the boardwalk from the main midway area, there are 2 Golden Kingdoms since the area is no longer connected and Old Country just kind of ends. I know a lot of people are complaining about Old Country but the Golden Kingdom thing drives me insane. I hate the fact that there are 2 sections of it that aren't connected and they turned a short walk from El Toro to Kingda Ka into a really long walk through the most congested area of the park (which became more congested when they cut off Golden Kingdom). I hope whatever they do for the new drop tower entrance area involves re-opening this area.

Busch Gardens starts the yearly torture
coasterbill replied to sharpstick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is but if you decided to live near a year round major theme park and get upset by the sound of music coming from the park then that's really just too bad. It would be like moving next to an airport and complaining about how loud the planes are. -
^^I'm sure people are lining up for a ride just like Shoot the Rapids right now . I love the other 2 ideas but don't see either of them happening. Great Adventure does have a severe lack of non-coaster rides, but in the last 3 years they've done a lot to correct this problem with the addition of Adventure Alley, Safari Off Road Adventure and the new drop ride. I'm happy to see that they're addressing it.

They're both boomerangs. An RMC would ride really different from El Toro, it would still be redundant. I agree that it would be redundant, but there's nothing wrong with having two great wood coasters (I still don't think it will happen though because I'm really confident that our next major coaster will be a Wingrider). As far as SFNE goes having the 2 coasters next to eachother looks ridiculous but they really are entirely different ride experiences even though technically they're both boomerangs.

While you can see "backstage areas" at most parks, most of them do a better job at keeping these areas from being complete eyesores. Six Flags doesn't care at all. While I've seen boneyards and backstage areas at Cedar Fair parks, they're usually not overly ugly and in the case of boneyards they're hard to see if you don't know exactly where to look.

Cheerwine! They have it at Cracker Barrel apparently so now I can buy it in New York. I've never seen it outside of the Carolinas and surrounding states before.
