LEGO is amazing! You can create almost anything with LEGO's and when it comes to designing roller coasters and theme park attractions, LEGO can be a way to show everyone's creativity at their finest. LEGO has also released some of their own theme park related and roller coaster sets in the past. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the latest LEGO Loop Coaster Set. Below are some pictures of me putting the set together and then the awesome details that this set has. If you have ever created a LEGO set related to theme parks, like roller coasters or rides, we would love to see it on Theme Park Review. If you want to share, feel free to post in this thread, or you can create your own thread. I think it would be great to see everyone else's creations and designs. I got my hands on this really awesome set! My family and extended family got me this as a Christmas gift this year...it was awesome AND a surprise! But of course my son just wanted to play in the box that it came in.... kids ...... This box is so cool. I didn't want to open it because it looked so cool. Some pretty fun details all around the box. I thought it looked tall from the picture on the box...but I would be lying if I said I wasn't surprised how tall the set actually was when it was complete. Time to dump everything out on our table. This was my battle ground for the next week to put this thing together. Everything laid out on the table and I'm ready to tackle the instruction book! Bag Number 1 Complete! That was a fun way to start! Bag Number 2 Complete! Starting to look like some roller coaster footers are being placed. Bag Number 3 Complete! Already placing track pieces? That was fast! Bag Number 4 Complete! I realized at this point, I needed to switch to the longer side of our table as this build was going to be a lot bigger than I anticipated! Bag Number 5 Complete! Not a lot added from this bag, but still fun seeing it come together! Bag Number 6 Complete! More track, the entrance sign and stairs were added. I love LEGO's sense of humor in all their sets. These signs are hilarious! Bag Number 7 Complete! The loops are already complete and I'm only half way through the instructions! This goes to show you that even LEGO makes mistakes on their instructions. If you know...you know... Bag Number 8 Complete! This piece doesn't look like much, but this bag took me the 2nd longest out of all the bags. You will see in a little bit which bag took the longest. Bag Number 9 Complete! Starting to see the drop come together! Bag Number 10 Complete! Almost done with Bag Number 11, and this was the crucial step of connecting the 2 separate pieces together. I'll admit...I was a little nervous something would break... Bag Number 11 Complete! It came together pretty easily. Bag Number 12 took the longest out of all the bags. First, I had to build the large "elevator" section. And then...... ...I had to make sure I had 222 pieces of the lift chain! I had to do this step 222 times!!! It was tedious but satisfying at the same time. I decided to split it up in groups to make sure I didn't lose count. The "elevator" section before the lift chain was attached! Bag Number 12 Complete! Tower has been completed! Bag Number 13 Complete! Added the portion of track that the coaster will sit on while going up the elevator! Bag Number 14 Complete! It doesn't look like much was added, but almost all of the gears and cables were added with this bag. This little red handle is the most important piece of the entire build! If you had a LEGO Motor function, this is where it would go to run the elevator continuously. Bag Number 15 Complete! THE ENTIRE SET IS COMPLETE! Now let's check out some fun details of this ride. When going to an amusement park, everyone needs pretzels and hot dogs! I love this guy selling balloons on his bike! I love his outfit and everything. Reminds me of some fun loving people here on TPR! The Grandma is terrified to ride...or is she so upset because her grandson is too small to ride? Any set with a squirrel is a winner in my book. Also, if you know LEGO, you can recognize some of the other larger LEGO Fairground builds. Let's look at the fun coaster station now... Fun little details within the station. They have pictures taken from the ride camera (including some taking the squirrel on the ride). The ride operator has their own area of the station with buttons for the ride. Time to take a ride on the elevator lift! It really is such an awesome set. The view from the top of the drop! What is great about this set, unlike some other LEGO sets, is that our entire family enjoys playing with it. It is interactive with the coaster traveling through the track and all the minifigs that we can switch out on the ride. Changing things up with this set is a blast for my boys and it's not some static LEGO build that will sit on a shelf and collect dust. They have played with this set nearly every day since I have completed it. And mostly, they try to derail the roller coaster! HAHA!! Thanks for reading. AGAIN, If you have any LEGO creations related to theme parks, roller coasters, rides, we would love to see them! Please share them!1 point

Hit closing day for about 5 hours. With the gorgeous weather it was much busier than I've ever experienced for HITP and while the coaster lines were still pretty short, the crowds kinda took away from the "magic" HITP usually brings. I know I always drank way too much Great Adventure Kool Aid with that statement, but the light crowds and family atmosphere always made it worth only having half the park open. Today felt like Frightfest but with half the park open. I didn't exactly hit a big variety of rides today, but from what I would tell everything was open except Green Lantern. On the other hand, getting food was a bit of a challenge as a lot of stuff was closed and what was open was very busy most of the afternoon. One of my favorite HITP traditions was Bacon Wrapped Pork Kabobs and last year on closing day they sold out by like 4pm, so when we got to the park we went right over to Jersey Devil BBQ and the place was already closed and mothballed. Guess having secondary food places open doesn't fit the premium experience mold as we would see quite a few closed and after walking into a mob scene at Granny's, we had to go over to Yum Yum Cafe for lunch that didn't require waiting 20 minutes. Around 4:30 we finally started riding stuff. Pretty much just hung out in Movietown, hitting Nitro, JDC, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Skull Mountain. Mostly short waits, but by 7 everything was a walk on. After a couple more JDC rides, I decided to do what I did with Superman on SFNEs closing day and spend an hour parked in the back row of Nitro. Had to relocate to row 8 a couple times and briefly ran off for a front row ride on Batman, but returned for a few more laps including the final ride of the year with fireworks in the background for added effect. There was a temperature inversion which was really neat, as the temp would drastically drop in the valleys but warm up on the tops of the tall hills. Briefly ran into coasterbill and crew a couple times at Nitro, ironically I believe this marks the first time I ever met a TPR member outside of a bar. Getting out of the park was a real premium experience as they have a grand total of 4 turnstiles for people to go through, but they are too narrow for strollers to fit so people with strollers had to cut across the mob to get to the wider exit path. That said, the usually mundane task of exiting the park couldn't be done without some people yelling at each other and employees yelling at people because New Jersey. Fun first day of 2023, and keeping the coaster party going tomorrow with a quick stop at American Dream in the works on the ride home.1 point

Ended up doing Fright Fest Power Hours last night with the family. This is only the second time I've been here this season, so hard to judge how it was compared to an average Thursday night, but it was absolutely dead. The rundown: Wonder Woman x3 (daughter's first rides on this, 1 cycle with the entire ride to ourselves) Batman x3 (son & I, 2 front row, 1 back, 1 cycle with the entire ride to ourselves) The Dark Knight x2 (wife and daughter only) Jersey Devil x3 (1 back row, 1 cycle with the entire ride to ourselves) Nitro x1 (son & I only) Justice League x1 (no 3D glasses) Reflections of the Dead x1 (no conga line) Overpriced dinner at Granny's (no meal plan for us this year) Skull Mountain x1 (entire ride to ourselves) Fender Benders x1 Big Top Terror Forgotten Carnival 3D x1 (no conga line) Fears x1 The Manor x1 Superman: Ultimate Flight x1 (son & I only) Kingda Ka x2 (son & I, 1 front row) The Joker x2 Green Lantern was scheduled to be open, but never did. All the better for my nether regions. The entire Plaza Del Carnaval and Frontier Adventures sections were blocked off, so no Runaway Mine Train or Medusa either. Skyscreamer was open and they have the skycoaster harnesses available as a $10 upcharge, but by the time we made it over there it was dark and pretty cold so we decided to pass on it for right now. Maybe during the daytime sometime when it's a little warmer. The haunted houses? Reflections of the Dead had I think three scare actors in it, no video overlays like they have had in the past, and it was pretty short to get through. Big Top Terror has some great setpieces and more actors, but also a lot of dead space. This was my favorite of the houses last year and it didn't really live up to what we remembered. On the other hand, usually Fears and The Manor were disappointments but they really pumped them full of actors this year, and they weren't shy about screaming at the absolute top of their lungs. I think The Manor is my pick of the four this year. Honestly, it was a pretty good way to kill a few hours on a Thursday night. I hope they continue offering this event in the years to come, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't end up making the cut.1 point
