IceDragon Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Now you get to see my excuse for a bedroom... It's a bombsite! Damn exams... Probably the most impressive piece of DIY in the house today: My very elaborate bookcase, which took about 10 weeks from start to finish My computer desk with random crap-o-rama! Home made stand and everything! Over the top soundsystem much? 2x200watt speakers and my decks because I'm a DJ! My leaning collection of DVDs and boxsets. What you can't see is 3 seasons of Family Guy CD collection... New Linkin Park didn't make it because it hauls ass so much... My (fairly outdated) video collection... Some fairly outdated scary movies in there... Keyboard with Psychology revision notes over it... I'm in a band! FREEVIEW!!! The cheapest source of entertainment evar! TV and stand floorspace, part of my bed, my TV and stand/chair with floorspace... *some* of my school books... Others are still in my bag which has a massive hole in it... Free driving lessons? Hot damn! View from the door... Very white if I do say so myself Only my dressing gown that's being used as a door stop seeing as my door doesn't lock What in God's name is that??? Prepare yourself...
the sound Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 ^ With the exception of about, perhaps, one in about 100, no one in Australia has there own TV in there room. Some may have two TVs, but not necessarily in their bedroom, well, not at my age or even just a bit older (I'm talking up to perhaps 17 or 18 ). As for watching different things, well, sometimes we are courteous and share the TV, or tape things that we want to watch. Yea... But then how would you fall alseep in your bed watching it? Well, you obviously wouldn't, now would you! You know, Lot's of people read books to fall asleep, or watch TV before hand, then go to bed. Sounds pretty logical to me. I would take a guess that because in the states we grew up watching tv, it's pretty much glued to our faces... we grow up watching Sesame Street as toddlers then move to cartoons from about age 4 to well some adults still watch them. Then move to Nick and Disney channel... THEN we grow up and watch sitcoms and news... Also we have our kids go through the same process lol (just a stereo type...) So we probably watch a lot more tv than most places. I can't sleep for longer than a week with out a tv in my room with cable... I don't know about others though... Don't get me wrong, i watch a lot of TV! And yes, i went through that process as well but i still don't see why you should need a TV in your room, if you want to watch something else that's on at the same time you record. But hey, it's my opinion, and i guess it's probably the minority opinion anyway.
Gav Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 ^I think you do represent a minority view, I have a TV in my room, as do a number of my mates (off the top of my head about four of them have one) Younger kids dont tend to have them, but I think most teenagers would. Definitely not this 1 in 100 distribution you are claiming, plenty of people have TVs in their own room. but i still don't see why you should need a TV in your room, if you want to watch something else that's on at the same time you record. Because doing that is a pain (it would be cheaper to get a second TV than a recording unit), and TVs aren't just used for watching programs, there are those things called gaming consoles and DVD players. For example if someone was in the middle of a game, and someone wanted to watch the news then taping the news and watching it later isn't really a good solution. A bit of an extreme example, but you can see where I'm getting at. It could simply be you aren't old enough to have bought a TV of your own or had enough birthdays/Christmases to have received one, judging by your avatar this could be the case.
snuggles Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Why not get another TV or 3? Its not like it costs more on your cable bill..
