So last night I went to see LOVE, the new Cirque show at the Mirage Resort. No pictures because they dont allow them at these sort of things, but I just thought it was too cool NOT to post anything here.

If I had to describe it in one word...psycadelic!

Great show, but the best part about it was the theatre. Its in a circle so pretty much every seat seems to be good. The sound is awesome. In fact there are speakers in the seat backs as well as the seats in front of you so its true surround sound! Even the entry to the lobby is bad ass. Its all silver and red with a huge british flag built into the ceiling. I noticed the floor changes color as well!

As for the show itself, it has a lot more dancing that the other shows I've seen. Its based on the music of the Beatles so there was a lot of 60's era clothing. They did a great job at bringing such abstract lyrics to life in true cirque style.

Some highlights are the complex stage. It can open and close in so many different shapes. Special lighting means the stage looks like it actually has "texture". Theres also two huge wraparound screens that complement whats going on as well as a variety of screens and translucent curtains that fall from the ceiling. And because this is Cirque theres definately lots of flying!

Right now is a great time for anyone thinking of seeing the show as its in its preview period (the first performances started last weekend). While I could tell there were some akward moments, it was still worth the money...

Thats another thing, because its in previews all seats are 25% off the normal range of $150 - $69. Regular performances start July 1st.

SO if you are headed to Vegas in the near future, theres something new for you to check out!

Try 5 Cirque shows in Vegas...

As unbelievable as it sounds we now have KA (MGM Grand), O (Bellagio), Zumanity (NYNY), Mystere (Treasure Island), and now LOVE (Mirage). All within a stretch of less than 5 miles of each other. Some of them are literally across the street from each other and each one is doing VERY well.

They are all at the same "chain" of resorts, MGM Mirage Resorts.

I love Cirque de soleil. I have seen all of the shows in Vegas but love. Anyhow, thanks for posting this. I still don't think it will beat O.

I saw La Nouba at Disney World in 2000, and it was truly incredible! It's expensive, but well worth it for an unforgettable evening. I sat in the second row, and while some people say that that's too close, I'd sit there again in a heartbeat. The ribbon flyers were right above my head! I can't wait to get out to Vegas to take in a Cirque show or two.

If you haven't seen one, go! Now!

It's so awesome to know that there are other Cirque-lovers on this board! I haven't made it out to Vegas to see any of them, but I did see Varekai live, and it was absolutely amazing. I've seen every single one that's been broadcast on TV (Varekai, Alegria, Quidam, Saltimbanco, Dralion, La Nouba, Nouvelle Experience, and the Cirque specials- Fire Within, Soltrom, and Midnight Sun) and I completely love the magic that is Cirque personified.

It is cool to see other cirque fans. After you see one it becomes an addiction almost!

I highly recommend any of the resident shows (the permanent ones in Vegas and Orlando). Why? Because their theatres have been built especially for the show meaning the best sightlines and sound systems. Plus the effects are more bold and daring than anything they could do in the tent or arena shows.

I've only seen La Nouba, but I really want to see O, Mystere, Ka, Quidam, Dralion, and now Love.

I've heard Varekai is good, too, but I don't really have any interest in seeing it.

And who could forget Zumanity?

i got invited to a special showing of Zumanity tomorrow night. still debating on going or not. i hear its a different kind of show cause its all specifically adult oriented (you gotta be at least 18.) it just doesnt appeal to me like the others have.

im thinking i should go just cause its free and its cirque...lol
