Geboldi Gardens Amusement Park, 2006|RCT3|

Recommended Posts

Let me just begin this park by saying, this park is going to be a rollercoaster ride in itself! Lets just say, Geboldi didn't have the brightest start.

So you wanna know how Geboldi started....

1970: Rick Geboldi buys a plot of land in the outskirts of Memphis, TN. He begins buying amusement rides

1972: Geboldi Gardens Amusement Park opens to the public

1974:

An overview of the small park

One of the rides two coasters, Screamer

Flight

Bumper Boats

The classic Roll-o-Plane!

Screamer's first drop.

The pre-lift turn

Lifthill fans...

The hi-speed turnaround...

First drop

Flight

The train goes through Screamer's layout

1981

The park has been losing money for the past few years, over the last seven years, the park added an Arrow shuttle loop and a Round-Up.

At the end of the 1981 season, Rick Geboldi announced the closure of the park. Here are pictures from the park's last season:

There was a pretty large turnout for the last day

The trains were removed from the track and put in storage.

The last two people to leave the park.

All buildings were boarded up

They attempt to dismantle some of the rides but run out of money.

The area sits and rots, next update: 1993

**Visiting an abandoned park, 1993**

ATTENTION: SOME OF THE FOLLOWING IMAGES MAY DISTURB DIE-HARD COASTER FANS

After the closure, Geboldi only had completely gone bankrupt, he sold the park for literally, a couple hundred dollars, to some real estate company. They said they would keep the land incase Geboldi ever made a comeback (like they did), but Rick Geboldi died in 1992, his son took control of the company and opened Geboldi Gardens Wild Safari in 1993. He had no idea this park ever existed....

The splashboats

Viper is still in the same condition as it was 12 years ago

Sad....

The midway...

Rust everywhere...

I would not wanna go on that!

**1998-1999**

SIX FLAGS BOUGHT THE LAND!! When Rick Geboldi died, the company felt that it was okay to put the land on the market. Six Flags (realize, this is BEFORE Shapiro took over!) has bought the land. They have released little details over what they intend to do, but we know:

- Screamer, Flight, the train, and Thunder Runner, and the carousel are all staying

- The ferris wheel, arrow shuttle, mini-coaster, roll-o-plane, round-up, and splash boats will not be returning.

- When the park opens, Medusa, Screamer, and Canyon Blaster will be the only coasters at the park.

These pictures are from 1999

Paint??

Sorry Viper, but you were already half-way dismantled.

Just like the old days!!

Medusa! (not an exact clone, but close)

Nice....

Oh yeah, they added a massive ferris wheel to replace the old one.

Ah, that's alright. I've informed viewers that they will sound similar.

Seriously, though, if I'm ever half as good as that in RCT3, I'll be happy (on all your Geboldi RCT3 parks, not just this one).

The park is almost ready to reopen! The park has added two more clon... I mean rides!

Oh look, it's Acrophobia

And Mind Eraser...

You can really feel the Geboldi charm now!

Wit chain-link fence theming...

I wish I could go there.
