momo1tx
On Friday I went to Six Flags America with my family, mostly with the intent to get my season pass processed, but also with the intent to see what was new for this year. I saw many changes (mostly improvements), but I'll get to that later. Upon arrival to park, they gave one of those new poster maps (which look really nice). After getting a season parking pass, we headed in to process our passes. It was relatively quick and painless, and the benefits from the coupon book were nice. Now that we had gotten the season passes taken care of, it was time to check out the park. We headed over to Wild One, ready to begin the day on one of my favorite coasters. I saw Two-Face, looking closed as usual. Looks like Six Flags hadn't done much to change. But wait a minute! The staff at the entrance was moving aside, and people were getting in line. Not wanting to pass up a walk-on, my sister and I got in line. It was definitely a great way to truly begin my coaster year. After getting off, we headed straight to Wild One. From the crowds that I had seen so far, I was suprised to find it being a walk-on. It is one of my favorite coasters, a classic. After leaving the Southwest Territory area (which really doesn't have that much of a theme), I went over to Joker's Jinx. It's always good to have a ride operator who's into it, and this one was. He was not like the ones in the infamous pictures of ops sleeping on this ride. After getting off, I noticed something beyond the fence where the Alpine Bobs used to be. Could it be? It was! Lying next to Wild One were the cars for Ultra Twister, with boxes labelled "UT" lying next to them. I have two pictures attached of them. The rest of the day, I rode mostly everything else (except Batwing, the lines were bad), and noticed distinct improvements around the park. To name a few: - No rides were closed more than 30 minutes. - Lots of characters around the park. - General quicker service. - More kid-oriented activities. I also got to ride Wild One 8 times in a row, and rode Mind Eraser in the back . Overall, I was impressed with operations, and intend to go back soon,
okinawaboy11
I saw Two-Face, looking closed as usual. Looks like Six Flags hadn't done much to change. After the BIG breakdown in 2004. The ride has had incredible up-time and has been up every visit from 05-Now. (About 20 visits). It's my favorite Vekoma creation. Besides the Giant Inverted Boomerang. Carnage
Those cars look like something right of star wars.
rollermonkey
Pictures of AW's Ultratwister cars at 6FA are always welcome! I just hope it has travelled well. UT's are a lot of fun, but when a coaster moves, it's pretty hard to rebuild it as smooth as before. Good luck!

momo1tx
^ I don't know the details, but I know the ride was down through the summer of 2004. In my only visit that year, I recall seeing a maintenance truck wuth men working on the lift of the ride.

And when the catch car was about to release, something, went wrong. Anywho it left riders stranded for about 3 hours. It even was big enough to make the news. All together a new part had to be ordered from Vekoma. Which took the ENTIRE summer. And then one of the cars, had a side panel missing for about the first month of the '05 season, causing more delays. In about May of '05 the ride opened back up again and has been working ever since. The only problem I have seen so far since the accident was it vallies on occasion. Inbetween the Loop and the second lift.
