BrownStreak Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I have been attempting to plan a trip to Europe for this summer or next and I have found it hard to match parks up with which city they are near. I am a visual person. A few "personals" sites that I am on have world maps with a dot where each person is from. I thought it would be cool to do something like that on here but with a dot for each park and maybe if you click on it, it will tell you which park it is. You could have either different sized dots or different coloured dots depending on how big the park is. Just a thought...any ideas?
BrownStreak Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 That's not going to to show me multiple parks and their relation to each other as well as other cities
Wes Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Yeah, it can. Just create Placemarks for the parks you want and cities. The Placemarks in action.
Wes Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Just as an example, I made some Placemarks for the parks in SoCal, so now you can see them in relation to other cities. Plus, you have the added advantage of Google Earth to zoom in and out, pan, and such.
Red Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Wouldn't something like this be better at a site like RCDB?
rollermonkey Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Er, Duane's been working on that one for about two years or so. If you know the exact latitude and longitude for a park, send it to him, and he'll update the park. (He has lots of parks hooked up with google earth and MNS already, so check first!)
davidmorton Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 We had a Google Earth conversation ages ago; http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=42980 In there you can find links to stuff like a Googel Earth file that has "all the parks" in it (like everywhere).
Loefet Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Or you could go here and download a file containing a placemark for every (almost) park in the world, so you don´t have to do it your self. http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/52647/page/
