momo1tx Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 As some of you may know, I went up to Canada this past weekend for a French class trip. We visited Montreal and Quebec, and I enjoyed the trip. Since I lost my camera I am borrowing a friend's photos for this trip report. I'll let the photos do the talking. Le Monstre at La Ronde. A blurry night shot of La Ronda A great aerial view of Montreal. The big white thing is Olympic Stadium. The Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal. And finally, a picture of St. Anne's (I think) The view from Montmorency Falls Mega Parc's Ferris Wheel. More Mega Parc The Capitale Express at Mega Parc, the track emerging from the tunnel. The funiculaire leading up to the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec. The Biodome, which was this biulding with "mini-environments" in it. And... Goliath! The track was complete and the ride was looking nice. Vampire at La Ronde
Swimace Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Did you ride that Mack coaster that looks like an Intamin ride? It looks like a fairly rare credit. If so how was it?
momo1tx Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 I rode it, and I found it very enjoyable! It was fairly small in size, but was very fun. The first section takes place in a tunnel that goes over the food court (perfect for ACErs!) that has a nice lighting package inside it. After the tunnel, the ride has a couple of bunny hops running parallel to the main walkway. the ride finishes with a forceful helix around the carousel up into the brake run. It was a very nice ride, in a nice mall.
What Now Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I want to go to Montreal now. Between Goliath and, well, Montreal, it looks like a nice place to visit.
Carnage Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 That Mack coaster looks pretty cool. I plan on going to Montreal for La Ronde at some point this summer. Maybe I can fit in a trip up to Quebec City. How far between Montreal and Quebec City is it? Google maps has it at 3 hours, but that's not always correct.
momo1tx Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 I slept most of the time between the two, so I'm not sure if I'm correct, but I think it actually did come to be around three hours (depending on how fast you drive on the highway).
rcoasters Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 If you drive at about 120 kph (aproximately 75 mph), it should take you about 3 hours or even 3 hours and a half at max.
DerekRx Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Looks cool. I plan on heading up to La Ronde sometime this year, though I'm not too sure if I'll have the ambition to head up to Quebec City too for the coaster there. If I make it that far, I may as well tackle Tree Topper!
