Twister II Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I was trying to play No Limits earlier today, but when I wanted to ride a track, it was only getting 1FPS. The max was 16FPS. I go into Task Manager, and it says Im using 100% CPU Usage! Its been like this since last night. How do I bring it down? I've searched, but I didn't fine anything. Thanks
ParkTrips Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 http://google.com/search?q=help+my+computer+is+at+100%25+usage You probably have some spyware or a virus if it's crawling for an extended period of time.
FlyingScooter Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 ^Awesome Avatar, Wes. Yeah, that 'pron' will get you every time.
Twister II Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 I ran 2 seperate virus checks, on 2 seperate programs. AdAware and Spybot, and yet, its still at 100% CPU.
ParkTrips Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If all else fails, go to the highest level in your residence, and throw it out the window. It makes for some really good entertainment. Seriously, how much do you think we can help without direct access to your computer?
Homer Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Stop downloading the pron. Darnit, I was going to say that... Anyways, maybe try to uninstall programs you don't use. Clean out your comp by looking at documents you don't need anymore, etc.
Wes Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete and see what's running in the task manager.
joel0613 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 1. Right click on the task bar (bar with the start button on it) 2. Left click on task manager 3. Click on processes tab 4. Click twice on CPU heading. This will show you at the top of the list what process is causing 100% cpu time. Once you know what it is, you can try and get rid of it. It is normal for system idle process to be a large number, don't worry about that. The process that is taking up lots of time, you can try and right click on it and then end process tree. Just a warning, if you end a process that is system dependant or application dependant you can crash your system. Good luck. jg613@pacbell.net
Twister II Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 I got it down. It was advertising software.
PhishyBrewer Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Stop downloading the pron. The Sex Tracker Spyware will do that to you. Not that I know or anything.
memphish Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 ^Oh, your computer is absolutly tip top. ... It's just I'm not sure about the color. Now how about those sausages Charley?
